Damn my wi-fi connection is too weak and I can't get the Wii U to connect. I'm going to need that usb to lan adapter.

I've read online that some of them don't work, I'll probably order it online but that means no online smash for like a week :(

Question for 8-player smash? Does it require 3DSes or can you use Wii remotes/nunchucks to fill out remaining controllers?

The 8 Player Smash page on the website lays out the control options and limits:

○Wii U GamePad (Max 1)
○Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus* (Max 7)
○Wii U Pro Controller (Max 7)
○Nintendo GameCube controller** (Max 8)
○Nintendo 3DS series system*** (Max 8)

* Includes expansion controllers (such as the Nunchuk or Classic Controller Pro).
** Two GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U accessories are required to connect eight GameCube controllers (each sold separately)
*** In order to use a Nintendo 3DS as a controller, each Nintendo 3DS system must have Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Is this worth getting for someone who likes traditional fighting games, likes Nintendo characters and has never played any of the previous installments?

Posted this in other thread, but thought it'd go well here:

Last night was AWESOME. Whole bunch of people came back to my place that I had just met at the launch, and we played until 5 a.m. :-D

Also, these amiibo are great. Here, Kirby and Yoshi tour part of my personal library:

Smash Bros. is literature, confirmed

One Million Percent Yes.

Welcome. You're here forever. See you for the next smash bros hype in 6 years. Trust me, you'll be there.

Yeah try it! All Smash games are very accessible. Just be a little more open-minded on the mechanics of this game as it really deviates from the traditional fighting games.

Yes. It's really not that different from a traditional fighting game once you go 1v1 no items.

I ordered this through Toys R Us online because they were offering a free Amiibo with it but it won't be coming for 7-10 days. I'm seriously considering going across the street and picking it up at Walmart and then just returning the Toys R Us copy to Walmart when I get that in the mail.

I shouldn't have a problem doing this as long as I hold onto the receipt right?

Reposting as I didn't get an answer. Anyone know if I will have a problem doing this?

Don't know if it's been posted in here, but apparently you can't use a 3DS as a controller online? Disappointing. Tried the gamepad and wasn't feeling it, so I've been getting used to the 3DS as a controller for it.

Man the weekend can't come soon enough. I played a couple rounds of classic with my wife. For some weird reason, she seems to prefer the Wii Remote, but to each their own I guess. Anyway, I added my info to the friend list in the OP, but I wasn't sure which Mii nickname they meant, so I just used the name of my main Mii fighter (J Ratcliff).

UK release isn't for another week, but I was wondering. Is the online garbage? Brawl had horrendous online play and the 3DS version feels like I'm playing the game through MS Power Point for 70% of the match. Is this any better?

Am I incorrect in thinking that you can do 5 player smash on any stage? I could've sworn I heard that you can do five players on any stage but it's limited to the big stages for 6 or more.

Manually set up your Wii U internet connection. Set a static IP, use Google DNS or OpenDNS, and make sure the MTU matches your router setting. You can also enable DMZ for that IP address you set.

Also make sure nothing else is using up your bandwidth. If someone is streaming video or playing an intensive online game or whatever that can interfere with your connection.

Thanks yo, getting right on it!

Hey friends. I'll be playing Smash all day, like you of course, but if you're taking a break, I'd be thrilled if you stopped in at my website 6am Games Machine and checked out my Smash Bros. comic ' Super Smashed with U.

The third comic went up today and of course, there's a new one every Friday.
There are no ads or anything, so I'm not trying to be sneaky. In honor of Smash Day, I'm looking to share this with a few more people.

Here's the second comic from last week:

Check out the new comic won't you? Thank you!

I laughed.

Man Smash Tour really sucks. I don't know why they thought making you play with random characters and then messing with the physics depending on what you pick up is fun. Add in that you have to play 15 rounds of it for one game and it just becomes tedious and unfun.

But does it produce the Mario Party phenom of suddenly becoming a great time when you introduce friends?

YES! My Gamecube Adapter bundle actually shipped a day early from GameStop and now I finally have my Bundle! ...and Pikachu Amiibo! It is currently sitting on my desk between my arms as I type this with Pikachu standing triumphantly on top of this smexy box which I intend to keep and hoard away. I have to go to work here in about a half hour so I will play it when I get home.

Because the game released on Friday, I was thinking that they would ship it on that day but not get to my house until Monday, but here it is! Jubilation!

Tested 5 matches online; it's buttery smooth!
Wifi in case anyone was wondering.

I can't wait till online tournaments get implemented.

Argh. I hit a GameStop midnight launch and another GameStop + two Targets this morning at opening hoping to find a GameCube adapter with no luck. These things are seriously hard to find.

For those of you who have gotten one, where did you get it? Going to keep trying throughout the day, but I know my chances will only decrease...
