Dear brother:

You said you'd pick up Smash Bros for me

I don't see it. Please explain. Oh, found it. You got it digitally. On your account.

Which means that once you leave and if you decide to unlink your account I'll have to buy the game a second time. This also means I can't get Mewtwo for free or the soundtrack CD without buying the game again.

Screw you. First you pickpocket me to "borrow" money and now you're pulling this crap. You didn't even tell me you were going to get it digitally, because if you had I would had told you that I wanted it physically because it's MY MONEY.

Now I'm going to have to body ffdgh later to make myself feel better. Thanks a lot.

Sincerely,
Your brother

Whelp guess I'll try the game even though I got fucked in the ass like that.

Sorry. Smash HD won't be on the menu for a week or 2 :p.

Melee had an amazing Adventure mode because they made it short, but incredibly high quality and really well detailed. Made it replayable over and over again because of how great it was.

Then with Brawl Sakurai decided to turn Adventure mode into this like 5 hour story mode where you go through a platforming game fighting monsters and the level design was absolute crap, gameplay was a bore, story was stupid (not that I expected much though), and it was just bland overall. It was hyped up like crazy too and I was so let down by it.

So naturally people hated the Brawl Adventure Mode because how bad it was, so Sakurai just took this as "Oh people don't want an adventure mode" instead of "People like a short but well done adventure mode".

Melee's adventure mode is one of the worst modes the series has ever had. SSE especially for people who wanted to unlock things literally took care of a large chunk of unlocks. SSE also gave us one of the best modes so far in Boss Battles as opposed to these glorified Stage hazards that are called Bosses now. SSE was better than Melee's adventure mode in just about every way. Melee's adventure mode might as well have been a bare bones version of Smash Run without the time limit.

Again, my NINID is - Jintek - I accept all friend requests! ;)

I really like the Pro controller - more than I thought I would. It feels way more comfortable in my hand, particularly the triggers. GC controllers leave my index fingers extremely raw.

Playing on the game pad sucks. The shoulder buttons are so far apart from each other. The regular L and R buttons are almost unusable. I guess I should just change the config.

Adventure Mode: Fun game

SSE: Chore with cutscenes

I'm really not enjoying Classic mode. I wish there was an option to disable matches with 5 or more fighters (except the Mii team of course).

Had a look at a few places out of curiosity, and it appears there was no Smash Wii U console bundle released? Doesn't look like there will be any released in Europe either. Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity. Bundle with the console, game, amiibo, and GC controller + adapter would have gone down well I reckon.

No way to do digital smash bros on an 8 gig system w/ 8 gamecube controllers ;_; Wii U needs 5+ usb ports.

Yes, I have. It's weird. it didn't happen when plugged directly into the tv, but now it's going through a receiver and it's happening.

I've heard rumors that you only need one of the USB plugged in, as the other is for rumble? No idea if this is true though.

So, has anyone found a fast way to get custom moves? I don't know if you can cheese the roulette wheel here in Classic mode with the Home Button.

Welp I'm having a giant smash party in my apartment tonight. About 20 people are coming over and I will have 8 player smash on Wii U., 4 player Smash 64, and 4 player Melee all running simultaneously on 3 different displays in the same apartment. This should be pretty awesome and I anticipate many drinks will be had.

I think there will also be a few 3DS Smash people floating around. Never really had a gaming party before but I think I struck a good balance between good/novice players and guys/girls. I'll take pictures of the festivities.
Where do you even meet that many people who play videogames socially? Are you in college?

What for? Online is only 4-player.

I'd like to setup my console once. Having to plugin the extra four-port adapter and unplug ethernet everytime is going to be annoying. But I guess it's fine.

Does no one have two adapters? There must be a horse's mouth around here.

Uh sure dude, whatever you say...

Is there an option for 2 players from the same system to play online together? And does anyone know of a website or video on tips for playing, poppin my Smash cherry right now.

two people can play from the same console online. As soon as you get online, it will ask you if it's one person or two.

as for the tips... the best way is to watch the "how to play" video that should be on Vault/Videos... that pretty much covers the basics... after that, pick your favorite characters and explore. After that, just watch youtube videos to learn combos and tricks specifically for your character.

the good thing about Smash is that you don't need to memorize complex stuff, you just have to master the basics and improvise. If traditional fighters are Classical Music, Smash Bros is Jazz. =)

welcome to the party, I hope you have fun!

Darn. Looks like I'll be returning my bundle. The box is all smashed up from Amazon and Dolphin seems to not recognize the gamecube controller and adapter.

Most of them aren't gamers. I'm not in college... In fact I just graduated law school. But everyone is coming over to drink and have fun and play anyway. About 4 of us actually play games and are decent to amazing at smash.

Not sure how I feel about Smash Tour. I guess I don't -hate- playing it, but I dunno, it's just kinda...meh? I liked Smash Run a lot more.

Whaaaat, adventure mode was great. It didn't overdo itself, and it didn't feel like a completely randomized collection of standard matches. It was exciting. Probably one of the best one player modes Smash has had. (imo, only Event mode in Melee/Brawl/4 beat it out. Classic mode in 64 is close).

I actually prefer playing all the various modes to unlock characters. In Brawl it felt like I didn't have to do much to unlock them, since they almost all come from the story. It's similar in Smash 4 though; the match count is so low, feels like you never have to go out of the way to go unlock someone. But I suppose that can be a positive or negative to different people, yeah.
but those cutscenes
Those were really good though. As were the aforementioned boss battles. Great stuff. It's just all the in between parts that weren't that fun to me... the bulk of the gameplay. It just didn't feel like a good fit for Smash, and there was so much of it that I thought it dragged.

This is so stupid! I preordered my copy of the game along with the adapter back when Amazon said the adapter was in stock. But now it's saying the adapter won't ship until Dec 19!? What the hell is going on!?

So just in case anyone was interested in feeling some good old schadenfreude today... After waiting in line for close to 12 hours last night in the freezing cold at Nintendo World and buying the bundle and a couple amiibos, I go to turn on my wii u this morning and I got the dreaded blinking blue light of death.

And I had just been playing it a few days ago —with no problems whatsoever — rocking the new mario kart dlc stages. But today of all days, it decided to brick itself. After a long call with Nintendo customer service (during which they had the audacity to ask for a 99 dollar service charge which I negotiated down to 50 and then finally free) they said it should take 2-3 weeks at least until I get my precious Wii U back.

tl;dr - I hate my life, no smash for 3 weeks

You should've went back to the Nintendo World with the broken Wii U and see what they could have done for you. My uncle lives up in Seattle and his kids treat their DS' like crap and whenever one breaks they just go to the Nintendo headquarters and they switch it out for a new one for free. Nintendo World might have a similar program.

Sucks, was really fun

Brawls was unpolished, imprecise, and was overall just a bore to play through. They tried something new and it just didn't work IMO. I wanted to love it though.

I just realized that that GameXplain video totally showed you being able to use retreating aerials with the New3DS c-stick nub.

I'm assuming that whatever is preventing you from doing it here (besides the work-around) is some bizarro glitch that will hopefully be corrected.

Cruel Smash.

fucking how?!?

counter characters works great. I managed to do 6 with Palutena on the 3DS version. Haven't tried the WiiU version yet.

Kirby is also a good option... just try to lure them all to one point while you fly away and crush them all with down-B.

Good catch.
