1v1, no items anyone? My NNID is NamikazeBurst.

Online is amazing. 11 matches, 5 or so different people, and no lag at all. I suck due to having not played the 3DS version since October, but I am trying to get better, again.

Funny thing - On all the Smash games from 64 to Brawl, I tended to ignore the A attacks and focus on the specials. Only at the end of playing Brawl did I learn to value Link's A attacks. (Which made me always think that it was weird that the B Button on the GC Controller was so small.) But with WiiU and the placement of the stick on the Pro Controller, I've been practically living off A attacks. Love the Pro controller.

Even Kirby isn't safe.

Question, how do you make it apply your profile's controller preferences game-wide?

Event mode still has tap-jump on, which I do not like.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the name thing now.

Is anyone else having difficulty beating the AI when unlocking characters?

I don't know what is going on, but they just seem absurdly difficult compared to the 3DS version. It's like they're physic and just read your every move. I got completely wrecked by both Lucina and Game and Watch.

I'm not good at the game by any stretch of the imagination, but unlocking them in the 3DS version was easy as hell.

Okay, Crazy Orders is a lot of fun. Way more so than Smash Tour. Got to 15 wins before taking on Crazy Hand.

Also got a shitton of rewards for it too; goddamn, 20+ customs (though most of it was just Equipment)?!

Was totally going to hold off on this with the amount of games that I have purchased for the PS4 and XB1 in the past few weeks, but I happened to dig up the one remaining Wavebird in my house and now I feel like I need to buy the game and GameCube controller adapter this weekend.

My son plays single player so he's the one who unlocks the AI fights. The default level is 3 and I find them pretty easy to beat when I take over.

Better off just getting a refurb from nintendo.

Nintendo as a whole has barely any of their products on sale next week. It's really odd.

Anyone got any experience ordering a refurb from Nintendo? Like how long will it ship to your house and the condition of the Wii U system?

What level are the unlock battles? Lucina handed my ass twice before Robin finally put her in her place. I had never lost any of those fights until today D:

I guess this is what I want some more info on. What is it specifically that people like about it? Is it just because of the button layout? Just what people are used to? The fact that there is a special adapter just for this game makes me think it would make a big difference and I think the gamecube controller is fine but I don't see what it really adds here.

I'm wondering about this too. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are the only fighting games I've ever played extensively, and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this game, and having the right joystick above the buttons is making things difficult for me.

I have GC controllers already, so I'm wondering if it will make the game easier to pick up. It's really fun though, and the levels are beautiful.

It just seems weird, because Game and Watch was dodging every single move, shielding every attack, it was crazy. It was like he was just plain psychic. Way different than the AI in the 3DS version, and even the AI I was facing in Classic mode.

By the way when I was at the store, like 5 more people came and bought the game, two of them were taking their preorders and another was looking intensely at the amiibo stand and bough Yoshi. And I just stayed for like 10 minutes at the store. I've never seen that level of hype in that particular store towards a Nintendo game, not even for MK8. #HypeIsReallyReal2K14

Picking this up after work. Never played this series. If any other noobs want to play a few matches my Nintendo name is Dubzinator.

Meanwhile at local Walmart: me and one other guy got smash, about ten others got Pokemon. Midnight release

Okay...so you can't even use the Wii U GCN controller unless you also buy an adapter? WTF Nintendo? Why didn't they make this like a Pro controller? Or why not have it plug into a Wii controller like the Classic?

So Nintendo releases 10 million new GCN controllers into the wild (which I suspect were just old GCN controllers sitting in a warehouse somewhere that they slapped a new logo on) and then releases a total of maybe 500 controller adapters across North America. :\

It's quite frustrating. There are literally no adapters in my entire city, they were all sold out by 9am this morning when I phoned around. So bad!

I bet I won't be able to use a GCN controller on this game until Jan or Feb. :( If they would let us use more than 1 Wii U pad on a system (not even the middle screen, just as a controller!) then it would be okay, but they won't. Arg!

January? Lots of places are shipping by early December (Wal-Mart and Best Buy for example).

I am so fucking bad at this now. Getting stomped online by 3DS players is fun. Goodbye again Captain Falcon, hello Megaman. Also, getting my hands on a gamecube adapter ASAP, getting used to the pro controller is harder than I thought.
