Is there any way to change default controls so up tap jump is off for everyone without having to have each person create/choose a name?
Unfortunately, there's no "general options".

Well unlike the 3DS the Wii U has many people using the same console, so there's that.
When you choose your character, under the portrait (the box just outside the name I think?) click on that and it will allow you to chose your profile name.

Those people with amiibo; what do you think? I love the idea, but I don't know if I want more than two (Toon Link and Olimar). I'm thinking of getting the Donkey Kong amiibo - are they fun enough to warrant the $13 price tag?
In the next match, switch to Little Mac with the same costume. They Side-B off the stage every time.
Heavy characters in general are slow and thus harder to play as. You just need to get a feel for him, he's not that bad of a character.

Would any fit oor do we have to use a specific brand? I have some good GC controllers but the rubber is now torn off.

I honestly love playing Ganondorf in Smash 4. I never used him in Melee and Brawl, but man... he just feels strong here.
The controller actually hurts the palm of my right hand when I play for a while. I don't know if I'm gripping it too hard or what, but that sucks.

I found it quite boring to be honest. I just didn't get what was going on and to be honest I dislike equipments and stats boost. It feels like a bunch of crap added.
Yeouch ... how long is the ban? I've only been playing 1v1 matches so I haven't run into anything like this yet.

Just bumping to answer my own question. After a match, you can view a person's profile and add them that way (allegedly) or view them through the Wii U OS as that tracks the last few people you've played with, something I had no idea existed. I'm extremely happy about this news, woo.
Also you can transfer your customized miis from the 3DS into the Wii U version but then you can't customize them? Why?

Man, I can't believe I almost didn't buy this game. I thought I'd seen it all with the 3ds version, but this is just so much better in every imaginable way. I've only played For Fun Smash, but I'm just so enamored with it. The pro controller plays amazingly, the online is almost completely smooth. It's just on another level of gaming.
Just wanted to post my online experience.
I just played 10 matches online with my brother and his friend who live about 900 miles away from me (road wise). I have 175mb internet vs his 5mb internet. It was his lobby if that matters.
It was pretty much flawless lag wise. Had a couple of instances where the framerate would drop to single digits, not sure what that was about, but that's it.

Man, I was supposed to go out to Gamestop (which is only 10 minutes from where I'm at) to go pick up Pokemon AS four hours ago. Had to rip myself away from the Wii U to actually start getting ready, heh.
Might actually see if they have any Samus amiibos. Still not exactly sure what they do, and I'm not much of a figure collector, but I might as well get one, just for a keepsake. A friend of mine tells me that Marth's is sold out everywhere, so Samus is the next best thing, lol.
