For Brawl the PAL version removed all the unbreakable panels, not that that makes up for the massive delay we suffered. Of course now we only have to wait a week and despite clear signs that NoE are handling their side of thing I doubt they've made a similar edit again.
 
Dunno if this is the right place to ask (haven't been on gaf much since Thursday; for the first time in a while I actually feel like playing games instead of reading/writing about them), but are we gonna be doing a Wii U gaf tourney soon? Just wanna make sure I get in this one since I missed out on the 3DS one that happened
 
So has online been reliable for people. Haven't played a ton of online matches but seem to be hit or miss with it being super laggy.
 
Love how Customs are way more useful in Wii U. You get them faster, and you have Classic, Events, Special Orders, and such to really get good mileage with them. Also cool how in Classic, the last set of CPU characters have Custom Moves usually.

Most of the harder Challenges just give you Equipment, it seems. Thankfully?

ALL of my matches have been lag free and this includes around 50 For Fun matches. Anecdotal perharps, but it's certainly better than the 3DS and Brawl at the least.

That's amazing. I've mostly had perfectly lag free matches in 1 v 1 but 4 player smash is usually laggy for me unfortunately. Must be a bad connection from one of players screwing it up. Ethernet is practically a must for this game.
 
How is the game on the with the gamepad as a controller? Mario kart was kinda decent with the pad. Smash bros could be a bit more difficult.

About the same as the pro controller in my experience. Might need to switch around some of the buttons, but it works just fine.


Really enjoying the game. Had a lot of 8 player fun yesterday with friends. The only things I'm a little let down by is some of the stage omissions. Some classic levels were cut. No Corneria? No Dreamland? No Fountain of Dreams? Unfortunate, especially since the 3ds had some of these levels.

so apparently custom stages work online with friends, and you don't even need to send them to each other or anything

that's pretty damn cool, i would've bet on them just straight up not working

Picked up a Pikachu because all the Samus's and Donkey Kong's were sold old, but launched my Wal-mart sold all of the Wii Fit Trainers amiibos.

We never even got Fox despite having a mod for it.

Going to buy a Megaman amiibo for my Birthday.
 
Master Fortress... not a fan at all. Got through level 9 difficulty all the way, beat all the other master forms, only to get knocked down to 7.5 and lose all my customs I picked up. It was extremely tedious fighting through all the master forms over and over only to get killed by dumb shit in the fortress. It makes me not want to play classic mode tbh.

And I tried countering in the 3DS game (albeit with Marth) and that strategy failed miserably, they punish you hard on the cooldown.

I guess equipment + counters might make it doable.

Doesn't she have a better counter option in her customs? Like an autocounter or something. Abusing that might be the key, since the Miis won't ever throw you.

Before I was just playing 4 player matches for fun and now just did a few 1v1 (and owned at it!) and it was fine. So guess it's just other peoples connections.

Back roll to the edge over and over until a Mii gets close, shield grab, back throw, repeat.

You still have to get lucky but the Mii fighters, having no specials, can't Up B recover.

Not really, there is easy counter which lengthens the active counter state but it's a lot weaker, so you'll probably struggle to KO them. The other one I think has a shorter active state which would probably make it even harder.

Buffing your speed and attack as much as possible and then spamming normal counter seems like the best bet, but that would probably still require a lot of luck. Unless there are some effects that would help too (improved counter or something).
 
I didn't realize how much the 3DS was hindering my play style. I have the GC adapter but have been using the pro controller almost exclusively and I am beating peoples butts left and right.

My biggest issue on the 3DS is obviously side B input error and constant smash attacks. I know only to use Smashes as a punish but on 3DS my tilts tend to rend as a Smash.

With Wii U I am a champ right now. My brother usually destroys me with Dedede and yesterday I had to ask "are you going easy on me?" Bring it on SHAMROCK!!!!

Don't hurt me...
 
Anyone know of any good deals happening now or soon with the Wii U Pro Controller? I want to pick one up soon (especially since I can't find a gamecube adapter anywhere near me). I had to play the game with a fucking wiimote Friday night because I let my other friends use my better controllers and it was so annoying.
