I have trouble just hitting people. I always end up just past them or just outside of reach. So I usually end up rolling around in free for all blocking while everybody else beats each other up.

you'll the timing and spacing down. That's all a matter of getting the muscle memory into your head, and the experience to recognize when to attack. Just have to play more.

While running if you press the shield button you'll stop yourself dead in your tracks, no sliding at all. So if you do that and then drop your shield (or you can press A while shielding and grab someone) you can then use an attack. See if that helps you at all.

In other fighting games you play, do your opponents not move?

They move plenty it's just the hit detection is super strict in this game vs street fighter or MK

That's actually great advice and I might try that out.

I keep losing against G&W and can't unlock him. Stupid stage is killing me and he's relentless for some reason. Bad luck, I tell myself.

If I send someone a message from the online with friends menu, does that person get like a popup or, what happens exactly?
The light on their Gamepad should light up blue, and a notification will appear in Miiverse from what I can tell (but I haven't received a message in Smash yet).

Just stage spiked a Peach on her first stock with thunder and then did back+B with Pika while in air to prevent recovery to stage on the second stock. Felt so good.

I think I'll stick with Pika as my main unless a new character ends up really compelling me.

Pika, zero suit, and duck hunt.

How does this compare with Melee? I thought Brawl was good but vastly inferior to Melee.

Most people will say it's much better than Brawl.

Some people will tell you it's as good or better than Melee.

I say it's only slightly better than Brawl and nowhere near as good as 64/Melee/Project M from a gameplay standpoint.

On mobile, and PISSED - unlocked DK Rap, and they cut out the Lanky and Chunky parts, as well as "Cranky, take it to the fridge!" WTF!

Man, I'm kinda disappointed in the Wii U unlockable stages. I feel like the 3DS's were more exciting. I mean...freakin Magicant. Can't beat that.

Aren't Lanky and Chunky technically considered Rare's properties? I might be wrong on that account, but I feel like I've read that before.

It doesn't help that I don't give a hoot for equipment, which make up an insane amount of the rewards both in Challenges, in Events, in Master/Crazy orders, etc. I'd actually look forward to them if they were trophies or CDs. The Saki trophy is very common to get on the 3DS version but it's an absolute pain in the behind to earn on Wii U, and for what, for it to have the same text?
While I'm on full complaining mode I should note that these are the worst crowd sound effects in the franchise, (ya know, when they cheer up on a character) a step down from all those who preceded them. And that despite having an enormous soundtrack, the actual new arrangements feel like they make up a very small portion of it.

Love the hell out of the game (12 hours and a half and counting, and that's just on pure offline play) but it's hard not to notice such things.

It sends a miiverse message, so the miiverse icon will pulse for that person when they open the home menu

It's not really useful as it never explicitly tells you what the notification is for, and opening up miiverse every time to send/receive messages is too much of a hassle

@ Pro controller users:

Have you plugged them up to your laptop/desktop to charge? The fact that the Wii U needs to be on for the controller to charge, the fuck Nintendo...

I spent an extra $50 for all this GameCube crap, but I like the Pro controller so much better. Going to a GC controller would actually take some getting used to now.

I got the Samus and Link amiibos, but I guess all they're good for is your Figure Player. Is there really no way to save a playable custom fighter on your amiibo? I don't care about FPs at all.

Has anybody got any impressions on the HORI Battle Pad?

Any lag? and what about the quality? Thinking going that route since the GC adaptor is really hard to get and i miss using a gamecube controller in mario kart.

it would literally be a perfect controller if it could charge indiscriminately.

I've been playing heavily all weekend and it still shows 4 bars in the menu. ridiculous.

Lol if anybody is having trouble with the Training combo challenges, I just found out that if you do Grab + A and keep mashing A you can do some pretty long combos. Do that grab near the ledge, the CPU will fall and then return to the stage, so grab them before they touch the ground and repeat... If you do it right the combo counter won't reset so you'll get the chance to add many hits.

I managed a 104 hit combo with Luigi just now haha.

My Robin has so much trouble dealing with fatass characters, I don't know why.

My only problem with it is the unreliable air inputs that I keep getting when trying it over the gamecube controller. I'll try to do an uair only to get a bair or fair.

Eh? Only once have I charged mine via the Wii U. Every other time has been through my laptop.

Custom-DORF for life. Jumping slanted dive kick, warlock sword, and change the up B to the double uppercut. I am a wrecking machine now with side recovery and better vertical recovery. If folks jump on him now I use the uppercut and instead of a grab I can sweet spot that thing and KO at under 65% given the stage.

Also their is no greater feeling than goin into a 1 stock all scenario at 0% and hitting THE CHOKENDORF to flame choke them to hell out of the air to win. Never get over a pit within Chokendorf range. Its like a wrestler's finishing maneuver. I'll be damned if I ever pass up the opportunity to hit it. Stock count be damned I will hit that fucking move if I see you offer it up to me. I don't care if you are up stock and I lose I am worse than the Dudley Boyz in the 90's for not giving a fuck about losing matches to hit my signature move.

Chokendorf mother fuckers...it's comin' for ya!

Get DORFED.
