I dont know why, but using the Wii Fit Trainer is hilarious, nobody ever uses him/her, and its moves are funny, its difficult to use though .

My thought is that a lot of those choices might be more due to performance than stage size. Maybe they couldn't get the stages with complex backgrounds and lots of animation running at 60 FPS with 8 people.

It's almost assuredly performance, otherwise all final destination forms would work.

Has nintendo said if there will be some major DLC updates in the future?

Sakurai is playing coy and saying don't expect much...

Personally, I think the bulk of DLC is going to be veterans and classic stages, as he can probably get B-tier teams to do that, while he'd probably want to be responsible himself for brand new characters and stages, and it seems he wants to take a break.

We ARE getting a Miiverse Stage, Tourney Mode, and a mode to share Pics, Miis, and Stage Builder Stages, soon. No clue when...Japanese release is the best bet. Hope it isn't saved till the Mewtwo DLC.

Really?

I actually did that on my first try, with no problem. Just kept spamming Gordo, and slammed my hammer whenever Kirby got near.

I'm wondering though...if you use an Equipment that heals you, does it count as no damage if you finish the match with 0%, even though you got hit and healed?
You're lucky... and probably good lol. I could almost never get him to run into my Fsmash, and he'd usually jump over and do something if I Gordo's at mid range. I was getting pretty far, mostly on Gordos, ftilt, down throw nair. If you neutral B in the beginning, somehow Kirby always falls into it, then usually up air would work after that.

But inevitably something would happen when I was trying. > : |

I tried the event where you have to fight Link/Zelda/Palu as Ganon... I can't see myself doing that in 45 seconds. Probably gonna have to turn it down to easy for the reward, instead of doing it on hard like I want.
Played a shit load of melee back in the day, so I guess I got my answer.
Cool, hope it helps. Enjoy the game!

Is there really no Pushmo stuff anywhere? No music, no Trophy?

Really...odd. Suspiciously so since IS already put a lot of stuff in. It's by far the most popular ESHOP game, but Dillon gets an AT and music, and Sakura Samurai gets music and a Trophy, but no Mallo anywhere...

I'm *shocked* we didn't get a Pushmo stage or something like that. Totally shocked.

Miiverse stage is probably going to be bundled with the other ones, but i'd bet it's 100% complete, they're just waiting on a large enough pool of 'approved' miiverse posts to save off and send to users.

I assumed they were gonna make a special "tag" on Miiverse so it knows which character you're supporting, and then pick from their.

So I just learnt that there is a Super Punch-Out Arcade clone where Little Mac is replaced with Frank Bruno. I need this alt!

I do wish we had the Super PO "Mac" as an Alt. I guess we got the blonde Little Mac, but I like the bratty, 90s anime look of Super Mac.

So after watching www.twitch.tv/iateyourpipe go over 10 minutes using the GameXplain method for Lucina's 8 KOs in cruel smash and still fail with only 6 KOs, I think the method seems pretty poor. It requires a lot of luck for a method that takes so long.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8RsRFJTBX4 That seems like a better approach overall, though it requires a bit more skill/timing. Still, it seems like it's a lot quicker so shouldn't be as annoying.

I like how if you're in your Friends List and someone creates a room in Smash, a message appears at the top saying " _______ is available to play" or something like that.

I don't like the fact that if you're already running Smash and you opt to join someone from the Friends List, you have to exit Smash first. It should just take you to their room from wherever you are in the game.

I'm expecting an extreme in terms of DLC, either it'll just be mewtwo and not much else, or itll be a landslide of smash hype. Seeing the trend DLC is going with WiiU I'd bet on the latter

So, after seeing how little people were rolling in that sky tournament yesterday, I spent the last two nights doing nothing but forcing myself not to roll spam like I usually do while trying to specifically punish every roll i can.

It was hard to get used to, but eventually it finally clicked and now i'm tearing through everyone i meet online. Just like that, I'm able to punish so much more stuff than I used to by simply using my shield instead of my roll, and I'm starting to see myself pick up real spacing, now that i'm not limited to the set distances of a roll and using my normal movement to dodge things instead.

Feels great to get improvement like that. I highly recommend it to anyone that uses rolls as a crutch and want to get better at this game.

Yeah, I second this. I find myself only using rolls occasionally compared to the other ways to move around.

My local EB Games manager told me they aren't even able to order new Gamecube controller adapters for the Wii U and that their rep says Nintendo only made enough for the first batch, and a second batch could be months away.

WTF Nintendo!?

The opponents are even worst stereotypes than the real Punch-Out!

Holy shit

I guess they assumed it was a niche group that would want to use a 13 year old controller. Which, they're probably right-ish. They just significantly underestimated the size of that group.

I just left EB Games and asked. The employee said it was a 1 day only thing and that Nintendo said there would be no more. I didn't believe them, but you never know.

There are a few other Alts they could do, like the Koppa kids all have different names and Alph is an Olmare alt.

Instead of just colors they could just change the name and appearance like those others
Dixie could be a Diddy alt
Dark Samus - Samus alt
Wolf - Fox alt (I think he will be DLC tho)

Dixie without being able to hair twirl in the air would be a misrepresentation of her playstyle though. She'd have to be a clone.

Dixie really wouldn't work as a Diddy Alt. A lot of what Diddy does just wouldn't work for Dixie, she has no tail, and no, her ponytail wouldn't be a natural replacement, and she wouldn't have any of her trademark flying abilities, so what would the point be? Honestly I'd be frustrated if she was a simple Alt. Lucas and Wolf being alts. would be a major downgrade, especially the latter who was plenty different.

I think Dixie would be best working as an in-between of Diddy and DK. Diddy's size and agility (but a bit slower), but with Donkey Kong's power (but a bit weaker). Like let her walk while carrying foes with her ponytail like DK does, and have her hair be her main weapon which is really strong and extends her hitrange.

For Alph and the Koopalings, it's the Pikmin/Clown Car that do everything, so it's acceptable. Olimar and Alph don't have any unique powers, the Pikmin do (although I'd like Alph as his own slot next time with Rock Pikmin), and for the Koopalings, it'd unrealistic to have all eight of them as their own slot, and the Clown Car provides a way to include them all without difficulty.

They weren't advertised as limited, and there'd be no reason to limit them. They probably underestimated early demand, but they'll be back. There's no reason to think they won't ever be produced again.

Gamestop employees love to make stuff up, I wouldn't really trust them.

I'm spoiled by MK8's online functionality. It had a tournament mode that essentially let GAF open a room for people to jump in at any time.

My one wish is that Smash 4 had something like this. Friend requesting everyone is just a pain. I wish I could just jump into some GAF games whenever I wanted, but I'm forced to essentially match make over the forums, which is lame.

I love playing with you guys, but I wish there was less "setup" in the process. Still love the game, obviously.

An online tournament mode is coming in a future patch

Dixie should move like Diddy but have moves like Donkey.

Think about it.

Donkey Kong has a helicopter spin. So does Dixie, she just uses her ponytail.

Donkey Kong can slap the ground. So can Dixie, she just uses her ponytail.

Donkey Kong can carry foes. So can Dixie, she just uses her ponytail.

And so on. She'd move like Diddy Kong, but have moves like Donkey Kong.

It would be SUCH a bummer to waste DLC dev time on someone like Dixie.

Gimme more totally unique fighters. No clones, semi-clones, or vets. Mewtwo was all I needed in that regard.

Well, have the game now and... I don't know.

I can't say I'm not underwhelmed so far. The thing that immediately stood out is that it just feels off. Nothing specific, just the overall feel of controlling my character. Even the 3DS version felt better. Maybe this is what the people who were talking about "input lag" meant, I'm not really sure if that's what it is, but something about the controls just isn't right.

8 player Smash is awful. Opinions and all, some people seem to like it. It seems like more effort is spent just keeping track of where the heck your character is and hoping you aren't off the edge somewhere than actually fighting. I don't find that fun for the same reasons I don't find intrusive and obnoxious stage hazards fun.

That by itself makes Classic mode a pretty irritating experience since most of the time you're in 4+ character matches. Haven't tried many other modes, just a couple rounds of Classic, some training mode, and some Smash rounds with CPUs so far.

Some other gameplay nitpicks, but I'm not even going to bother delving into that.

Further brief thoughts:

http://youtu.be/VmDkNkNPWYY - Talks in-depth about cancelling air dodges into aerials
http://youtu.be/iZPxLLaL4N8 - Highlights another element of launching properties
http://youtu.be/bSp885AxZss - Reports of C-Stick limits are greatly exaggerated. Jump as you please but return the directional stick to neutral before attacking with the C-Stick. Then, return the C-Stick to neutral if you wish to influence aerial movement. Returning to neutral resets command inputs in nearly all fighting games and is among the most important skills to learn if you want high level execution. In the case of Smash U, RARs allow forward advancing back airs. Backward falling forward airs are possible and really, a turnaround tilt or smash might be more advantageous because it keeps you on the ground. Evaluate your gameplan constantly and discard what does not work.

Until next time, folks...

Woah. Toss-cancelling is a game changer for Link. Makes me want to main Link now...

Mewtwo's all I really want, as well. I'm just pointing out that if Dixie were to be loosely inspired by anyone, it'd be Donkey, not Diddy.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I see Dixie Kong. Gumball Gun, sideways Ponytail Spin, vertical Propeller Spin, and a Ponytail Ground Pound. Plus using her hair to walk at normal speeds with crates and barrels like Donkey Kong.

So is there an explanation as to why we can't use the gamepad touch screen for menus? And is there a way to change what's on the gamepad screen?

Man, Ness players are brutal u_u
I faced two today and both were killing machines D:

Ness players are bro-tier, they are very focused and dedicated, and don't use cheap tricks.
also, learn to dodge his PK Fire, and you'll be fine.

and use cheap tricks to throw them off the stage.
