I was listening to the soundtrack and got to "Corneria" and didn't really know if it was the Brawl remix which I don't like or the Melee stage, which I do like. Corneria in Melee isn't even the theme of Corneria in Star Fox.

They should probably fix all the old Melee music so it actually describes what it is. They did this with Mother 2 (became Polyanna), and Termina Bay (became the Legend of Zelda Theme) but they didn't really do it for anything else.

So
Corneria -> Venom (Star Fox)
Venom -> Star Fox Main Theme (Star Fox 64)
Mother -> Bein' Friends
Princess Peach's Castle -> Mario Themes Medley
Pokémon Stadium -> Main Theme
Poké Floats -> Battle Music Medley
Icicle Mountain -> Ice Climbers Medley
Fire Emblem -> Together We Ride/Main Theme
Dr. Mario -> Dr Mario Fever

Remember, there are people playing Smash 4 who weren't even born when Melee came out and look at this and wonder what the heck is a Poke Floats and seeing "Peach's Castle" makes me think of an entirely different tune from Mario 64 (that I'm kind of surprised has never appeared in Smash)

Yesterday's pic of the day said they "couldn't" change the names of the tracks, which is odd, because they did change a few--the tracks on Onett were called "Mother" and "Mother 2" until this one.

They also added V2 to a few Brawl songs like Mute City as well.

I had no idea that Post of the Day existed. Kind of funny I came to the same issue he did... except I see no reason they couldn't change the names of the songs. I wonder if it's some dumb licensing issue with the original composers

Getting tomorrow confirmed !

(Reims is about 150km from where I live)
And they included ORAS too!

I know I suck at this game, but the CPU in the Smash Tour are a bunch of cheating assholes. Am I the only one that has a problem noticing where my character is at the start with that gigantic text? The CPU will start out with the hammer of death and will move instantly to the other players.

I'd use custom moves if the game didn't restrict them to select multiplayer modes. Honestly, I think the most disappointing thing about Smash 4 is that they failed to integrate the most interesting new feature across the entire experience.

It's only online-matchmaking where you can't use customs. You can through all the local MP, all the SP, and in friends online matches.

Wait ? How ?!

I also ordered through Amazon France, and they didn't even ship it yet. I took the one-day shipping as well.

You are really lucky !

Well, I have Amazon Premium and they dispatched everything, Amiibos + both Pokémon + Smash with adapter bundle.
It happens sometimes.

Set up some quick 8-CPU battles just to get a feel for which stages would be appealing in 8-player.

I have a 65-inch TV and can't tell wtf is going on in Palutena's Temple.

So, I started trying Sheik offline, and really like it. I need to polish my play lots more, but I'd like to make Sheik one of my secondaries!

Yeah, after thinking about it, I won't bother with some of the challenges.
Some of them are stupidly difficult and I don't have the time nor the patience to complete.
Plus, some characters are simply a chore to use for me which are required to complete said challenges. Oh well...

I built a CD/Parts Factory in the stage builder and tossed my amiibo in there (0.5 damage, 99 stock, all Master balls and hearts) to collect items for me. That was ten hours ago and the match is nowhere near complete. Welp, I'm sure to get a hell of a lot of stuff out of it.

Literally took 12 and a half hours to complete.

So I got a kick out of there being music from random games I didn't expect like Captain Rainbow, Soma Bringer, and Culdcept

My shock was Baten Kaitos.

What objects do you put in the stage to drop cds and parts?

Hey guys, gamecube controller or pro controller? Im thinking pro since itll be compatible with more games.

I've personally gone with Pro for similar reasons as you, but I'm not in the competitive scene so it's pretty easy for me to move on from a controller I haven't used for Smash in years. Also I felt that the click digital shoulder buttons would be easier to use than the deep analogue ones of the GCN for shield and grab.

If you don't already feel strongly about playing Smash with a GCN controller, go for the pro.

GC is a little better, but like you mention you can use the pro for other games. As an overall controller purchase, GCN controller will only be useful outside of Smash if you have a Gamecube (or I guess a third party adapter to PC/another system).

I'd use custom moves if the game didn't restrict them to select multiplayer modes. Honestly, I think the most disappointing thing about Smash 4 is that they failed to integrate the most interesting new feature across the entire experience.

the fact they need to be unlocked is annoying too.

Ahh hype! It's a CD you have to pick up I take it? What stage is it on?

Can you use them in the "For Fun" online modes? I haven't messed with the custom stuff whatsoever yet.

So just curious do you guys think they will change for glory to 3 stock 8 min matches or keep it as is

They're going to keep it as is because they are going to be patching in the community feature which will allow you to essentially create lobbies with your own rules -- so you could do 3 stocks if that's what you prefer.

After playing the game over the weekend I have to say, I'm disappointed in it overall. Don't get me wrong the core gameplay is a lot of fun, but almost everything that surrounds it, not so much.

8-Player Smash: I really hate this. I like at least a bit of skill to be involved in Smash, but this just completely throws that out the window.

The new Classic mode: I really don't know why they felt the need to change it from the amazing Classic mode that is in the 3DS version. I feel that adding 8-player smash battles to it completely ruins the fun at higher intensities.

The stages: I feel that too many interfere with the fight too much (Orbital Gate, Kalos League, Pyrosphere, etc) or are just really dull to play on (Wrecking Crew, Duck Hunt, the omega stages, FD, etc).

Smash Tour: This thing is downright terrible. I honestly don't understand what Sakurai was thinking when he decided that this was a good mode.

Master/Crazy Orders: This is also ruined by 8-Player Smah.

Target Blast: It's still just a shitty Angry Birds clone. It would have been nice if the resources put into Smash Run, Smash Tour, and Target Blast were put into another character specific Break the Targets mode.

I'm also bummed out by the lack of a Melee-esque Adventure mode, but after SSE and Smash Run it's probably best that one wasn't included.

Event mode and All-Star are still fun.

Melee is still the best Smash IMO. I really hope they manage to best it with Smash 5.

GGs man. I thought you did your best that round. That ROB really had me confused for awhile.
I had no idea how annoying pac man can be haha and that pk thunder hitting regardless of what I do, in the air, won't let me hit the floor. I also still have trouble getting in on you. You make it really hard. And I myself mess up too much, sometimes there's an opening and I miss a grab or shield etc.

You know exactly what to do and when to do it

I really was hoping for a Melee-like Adventure mode, right now it feel like something is missing.
They might add it via DLC but it would be huge so don't expect it before late 2015.
If they ever do it
It feels like a game which has been rushed to be released this year.

Honestly, I equate it to playing years of competitive Brawl with Ness, who was considered low tier. I had to be better at reading opponents and reacting faster to make up for his deficiencies.

Never playing sonics again online. the homing attack is impossible to counter and they all just do it over and over again!

Just shield and then jump and punish them with an aerial (if you have a character that's quick enough to do so). Otherwise, bait out the homing attack and punish their landing lag for whiffing it.

Re: Input lag/general control "offness"

Tested Melee on the same TV I'm playing Smash 4 on. It didn't really feel too different than my CRT (IIRC this TV has about 20ms input lag in game mode, which is probably similar to PM's 1 frame delay even on a CRT) and didn't feel off like Smash 4 does.

So yeah, I don't think it's the TV.

Edit: Just tried to go online. Was able to get on, changed some things on my profile, then comm error. Now I can't connect again. 101-0502 error all over the place.

I feel that way as well. Smash Tour feels like a rushed idea. 60% of the game is Brawl.
I rather they release it next year with more modes and such.

I gave up on the DLC dream...

Edit: Still a solid 4/5 even with the issues it has though.

It's a random CD, yes. And it plays on Gaur Plains of course! :)

Figured it was Gaur Plains, which is kind of a shame because Xenoblade music is so good too. Does that stage even have an Omega version? It's never come up in For Glory online, which is all I really play.

I'm pretty sure the only place you can't use them is online With Anyone, right? You can use them in all single player modes (maybe not target smash?) and in online With Friends.

I think that's pretty all encompasing. It does stink that you can't use it with anyone, and quite frankly I'm not sure why they made that decision.

Echoing other statements: Yeah, the game is a very slight improvement over brawl. The roster and the graphics are the real leaps here, but otherwise it's a very similar experience, especially considering how many stages returned and how much music is reused. Doesn't feel like a six-year sequel.

I think 64 to Melee was such a gigantic jump in every aspect that it just set an impossible bar for the series to surpass.

I still don't have anyone on my friends list (anyone can add me: Celegus) so it's been pretty useless to me so far.
