Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 24-30 | Fighting Geriatrics Community

I would love some buffs for Ryu in 1.04. The character is based on basics and street fighter classic play so he should be able to go well in the game but... Since many characters are also based on basics but have gimmics, it's like ryu doesn't have anything than basics and he can't follow the other characters. I'd like a reinforcement of his basics as I like playing him for the classic style of play.
One of the real buffs he'll get will come from E.Ryu nerfs. By over-buffing E.Ryu (hi unnecessary health buff!) they essentially invalidated Ryu as a character because he was just a worse version of E.Ryu.
 
Man, online advertising is scary shit. I don't even use my Facebook anymore, and only log in when I absolutely need to and I see a sponsored ad for Canada Cup Gaming on my timeline. I mean.. what? There's never been anything fighting game related on my FB, BTW. Not even really on my twitter.

Check your Google AdSense settings. You build up a profile over time that's used to deliver advertising (for anything that uses their service), but you can opt out of all of it. (You may need to search to figure out the link to do this, I can't recall off the top of my head.)

(No idea if Facebook relies on AdSense data but it's an idea to check and something worth doing at any rate.)
 
Why should Honda have a safe invincible reversal? I never understood this, if you do a reversal and its blocked....you deserve to be punished.

Safe? It's -8 on block, it's a charge move(and it's a back charge), it's an EX move(meaning it requires meter), it has only ONE frame of invincibility with an active hitbox(8 frames of full invincibility so it can be safe jumped and OSed), after that its hitbox SUCKS(it can even be ground thrown after that), it's easily baitable and fully punishable by jumping backwards.

Yeah, Honda got dicked hard in Ultra. EX Headbutt FADC being negative 5 was the icing on the cake, lol.

Yeah, I think I've done this before but who knows what happens when it comes to multiple devices, whether you have Google apps installed or you clearing your cookies. Just a bit of a pain in the ass.

Not even close. Learn the timing and practice it, her 1f's aren't difficult.

Necessary:

What she does need however, is either her St.HP to be like 4-5 frames faster or give her back her cr.HP cancellable. Her st.HP is so bad right now it's ridiculous.
Also make it that exMallet smash doesn't go over the opponents body.
Also make sure that all of the attacks of her lynx tail hit consistently on all characters instead of working only on certain characters.
Also make sure her Spin Scythe always gets all the hits on crouching opponents.
Also make sure her Scratch Wheel hits crouching opponents properly instead of getting only one hit then proceeding to get bodied.

Prayers:

Make st.HK airborne on an earlier frame.
Change her input leniency to be more in line with all the other characters.
Why is her cr.HK -16 or something? Her ultra recovers faster.
Extend her cr.MK hitbox longer.

Those two are really the only ones I wouldn't see her needing. Between st lp, st mp, cr hp and EX Scratch wheel, her anti air game is pretty strong. The sweep reaching as far as it does deserves at least that much recovery, since a lot of characters still can't punish it unless they focus it. Everything else = Where do I sign the petition?

I think they just have no idea what to do with Honda and listened to the wrong players when deciding how to balance him. Some Honda players wanted to be able to do kewl handz combos easier when doing damage was never really his problem to begin with. With Sim it's kind of hard to balance in general as if you buff him too much all his even or advantage match ups would be hella good for him but his bad ones probably won't be that much better for him due to the nature of those characters. No matter what they give him, Yun, Makoto, Abel, Viper, Fuerte and Seth are still gonna do their thing.

They also had access to Japanese Arcade data - in pre-console Ultra, Honda players were still showing up in the top 100 BP players with very high winrates. He's "bad" in exclusively high-level play, but in lower-level play he's still fine. The turtly style of play he promotes is just kinda miserable and there's not a good way to fix that outside of say, Omega mode. The Honda mirrors at WCW are precisely what they're trying to avoid having happen on a regular basis.
 
I agree with everything Chaotix says about Sim. Some of his MU just hurt. I think safer drills will change how he plays.

Honestly for Elena, could use some easier combos even at the cost of damage. I just remember hitting her specials not all hitting and I get punished. Really frustrating.

Agreed, she doesn't need to be Vega II.

Because he blows in other areas. Now he just blows period unless you are godlike with using strong headbutt.
Also it wasn't fully safe before the nerf- certain supers/moves could punish it before.

Now just about anyone can.

Honestly if her damage wasnt so bad in her first stance and her normals were faster she would be pretty easy haha

She felt like one of the characters they made weak because they were scared she would be too good

So Chaos Code is 6-8 bucks on PSN right now during the sale and that seems like a better deal than buying a single BlazBlue character for the same price. I know it doesn't have online but does anyone want to chime in on if the thing's worth it or not?

It's a fun game, the big issue is... well... the same issue you would have with any other niche fighting game -- who are you going to play with? If you have another person or two who are willing to give the game a shot, it's worth buying at that price.

For that price, it's worth it just to mess around with the game for a while. The animations are a bit stiff, and hitstun is as soft as butter, but outside of that the game is mechanically solid. I don't remember if the NA version is 1.01 or if it got the 1.03 patch, but both versions are semi-balanced.

Really I think I'd just be content to lab it up with Cthylla just because her character concept seemed hilarious to me. I'll hold off and see if there's any other games I really want but I'm definitely leaning on Chaos Code for now. Thanks for the responses

Getting 40 damage for AA'ing isn't enough and using ex just to get the extra damage (not to mention you probably won't be getting all the hits off) doesn't seem worth it unless you're going to take the round/having trouble AA'ing certain dive kicks or jump ins that are changing trajectory. I feel her ex should mostly be used in combos because you get a lot more out of it that way. Or as a straight get off me attack.

Yup. Nerf her damage because your execution sucks. Makes perfect sense. The inconsistencies of her specials is definitely an issue, not the timing for her links.
 
As far as I know you still can't play CC online, right? Like that is a huge kicker if you can't find people, but if you're cool with it go for it.

It's also not a fun training mode game at all, which is why it sucks super hard.

It doesn't push back a ton, though. They nerfed that. I think every character can punish it now, albeit some only with super.

Yep, no online play at all. Forgot to mention that, sorry - I just kind of assumed people knew at this point. Wouldn't recommend it at full price at this point because of that.

The training mode is weird, I'll grant you that, but I think it's OK.

I don't have issues AA'ing with them either and st.LP is really good against some divekicks, but it's just the damage is lacking for it to really stand out.

Were getting like 20 damage/40 damage for our AA's while most other characters are getting 90~100 for there AA's.

I'd be ok with a risky headbutt if buttslam and ochio were improved, ochio to grappler standards and/or buttslam like I suggested earlier.

lack of options, and the chars don't do anything wild or have lots to mess with. It's a simple game where the most you'll be doing in training mode is grinding out basic combos.

I legit gave the game a fair shot, but training mode was boring and people in my area weren't going in with it so it was boring and yeah. Tenryo being mental didn't help either lol

I think you're underselling the flexibility of the game a bit -- Exceed combos in particular let you do some really stupid stuff. Then again, I'm not the kind of person you would want to ask if a game is a good training mode game.

So BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma and Arcana Heart 3 Love Max might be cheaper.

EX headbutt is shit, there's no defending it.

Yup. It's an OK anti-air but it's all Honda mainly has as an anti-air and it's costs meter. Not to mention on block it's still punish able.
