Super Smash Bros. for Wii U |OT| True Potential of Smash Bros.

The characters I'm interested in if I pick this up:

Greninja
Shulk
Little Mac

How viable are these 3? I like fast characters that can get back onto the fight arena without issues.

Little Mac has one of the two worst recoveries. That said, he can absolutely wreck it as long as he stays on the stage.

Well that was fun, but I'm tired of getting my ass handed to me for now, until I figure out what I'm doing wrong lol. I want to have some level of a chance at winning *anything* in For Glory, so I guess I'll look for some videos if those exist or something.

We will settle it in Smash one day.

BRING IT

my friends and i say that phrase irl now help

After three games I've yet to get Sheik.

The new Side-B seems way more useful than the old one, which I never fucking figured out what exactly the point of that was.

Diddy is flavour of the month, but he's still very good. Up-air is absolutely the most ludicrous move. I was just making a joke about Diddy everywhere anyways. :lol

No, I know, lol. He's the go-to easy mode but his game is rather predictable outside of the over the top uair and monkey flip's priority.

But there's a lot of currently viable characters that we don't really know enough about from extensive gameplay. Even fucking Charizard has been having really good showings, Shulk, Sheik (no kill potential is a problem against fatasses), Rosalina, Ness, Peach (incredibly hard to punish her appraoch), Falcon, Fox, I've seen very good Robin's, Pacman, Megaman, DuckHunt, Sanic, etc.

Samus and Olimar are the only definitely bad characters imo at the moment lol. I have no idea what happened to Greninja after the nerfs.

GGs!! I think you played pretty well.

Finally able to mess around with my copy of the game. Just doing some training matchs. Not sure if I'm just this bad from not playing a game in forever or if perhaps I'm just not used to the Wii U Pro controller. Think it's both and perhaps more so I'm just this bad and will need a LOT of playing to get decent. Take it slow and get how I see people that play on streams out of my head.

Thinking of starting with Adult Link as the first character to focus on. This a good choice for those that say are new or way out of practice? As future advice should I just be focusing on a character I like and stick with them for a while? Not jump back and forth?

Greninja is good, but sadly not as ridiculous as he was in the 3DS version (RIP Hydro Pump), and Shulk is very good, but he's got a huge learning curve, and he's not really that fast unless you're throwing on Monado Speed a lot. He won't have problems getting back on stage with Monado Jump, too. Little Mac has speed and power, but he's straight up worthless once you get him off stage.

Pikachu might be your speed.

Ggs man, I have a hard time against those projectiles and grabs have to get adjusted

Mega man, Ness, and sonic. Three worst people for me, I find their play styles frustrating lol

So what exactly makes Olimar so "bad" this time around? I think he's certainly more approachable for more casual players (like me) at the very least.

The buttons on the pro controller feel so stiff compared the gamepad. That's likely playing a problem because when I press jump on the pro controller it feels like it doesn't register at times. Not so with the gamepad.

Anyone that has used the Wii U pro controller for the first time experience this? Are the buttons just that stiff and it needs to be "broken in" for the lack of a better term?

I'm confused, I remember reading that it took 8 classic runs to unlock Duck Hunt and 200 trophie to unlock ROB, now I've beaten Classic Mode over 20 times and reached more than 200 trophie earlier this night and nothing. :/

I just want my complete roster. D:

1 stock, suicide 100 times. Easy.

Different unlock methods in the Wii U version.

Rob requires a 10 challenge streak in Crazy Orders and Duck Hunt 1 kill in cruel smash

Beat one person in cruel smash.

Those were the 3DS requirements.

40" is rather small for that distance. Not just in this game, but in general. I had a 42" at that distance and it was straining.

I have 50" and my eyes are around 8 feet from screen.

Sigh. The temptation to shirk my educational and holiday-related responsibilities and drop a grand and a half on a big, nice TV is very strong.

I just got the Link (for Hyrule Warriors mostly) and Pikachu Amiibos and I'm surprised how much I love playing with them. Shame that they'll pick up customizations and trophies but not CD's kind of put a damper on my plans to farm them.

I think Toon Link is fine as is, it's really regular Link who should've been changed...really wish they went Skyward Sword, although I guess it was easier to use Brawl Link since SS Zelda really wouldn't work that well with her skill set here, and Sheik would feel outta place. If Wii U Link is the only main Link between now and Smash 5, will Sakurai skip over that? Personally, I think Smash 5 should go with a Link/Zelda/Ganondorf that are like the ones in HW, combining elements of all of them and being Smash-original, sort of.

But anyway, really think Link should've been able to roll bombs, and replace his Boomerang with, I dunno, something from Skyward Sword. The Beetle if it wasn't an item could've been cool, if it just poked the foe away, and could grab items for Link like the Pikmin.

Link has had so many items and abilities and variants it's really a shame that we have 2 links with variants on the same exact items. As many have said, toon link has several items unique to his games that would have changed him up drastically, like the deku leaf, grappling hook, etc. It'd also be nice if a zelda character could use the many rods from the games, too. Oh well!

That's how I feel, I didn't get him in Brawl, but in 4 he clicks.

Basically though, less Pikmin means it's hard especially on For Glory to keep up with the opponent, like Little Mac, as they can burn through your Pikmin quickly leaving you needing to use Pluck, which is hard to pull off on Omega. And Pikmin Fly leaves him really vulnerable, and basically he has no offensive Specials now besides tossing, which is harder since you can't get Purple as easily now.

Personally, I'd like to see Olimar and Alph as seperate characters next time, with Olimar being more Brawl-style, and Alph being more 4-style, with some more differences, like Alph gets Rock instead of White and Purple.

No lie, I sort of want Lana in Smash lol. Her book with the cube, reflecting walls, etc. would be really neat. I bet we're not done seeing her, but I doubt Sakurai would ever include a spin-off like that in Smash.

I'm really disappointed that Toon Link's Final Smash still isn't the Wind Waker.

it'd be a stage-wide gust bellows :v

I played on game pad for a day, then bought the Pro Controller. I don't notice a difference. Hell, I even tried the Wii remote plus nunchuck combo yesterday and it was fine also.

If you don't waste money on a 3D display, you can get an awesome gaming 50-55" for half that.

Wish I could, my friend, but I'm trying to fix my internet at the moment. Such a gentleman like you shouldn't deal with this.

WE WILL SETTLE IT IN SMASH.... another time.

Lol im no gentleman >.>

*bops you*

(And before someone asks, I am a guy, I just mea-ohnevermind)

Anyone use the usb wii lan cable? I'm getting a lot of lag or input delay so thinking of getting one. But i remember hearing bad things about it being worst than wifi yet Maximullian recomends it.

Deku Leaf seems the best item for Toon Link, replacing Side-B. Shoots out a gust of wind that blows the foe and projectiles back. When used in the air, Toon Link himself also gets pushed back, so it can be used to escape.

I'd also like the Hook Shot replaced with the Snake Whip from ST, now that Lucas is gone...

Deku Leaf could literally work exactly like Peach's Parasol (New Up B). New animation, of course, but same movement. Also I think Adult Link shouldn't have boomerang (Spinner or Ball & Chain would both be great), and Toon Link shouldn't have bow (Give him the Skull Hammer to pound foes into the ground), just to further differentiate. One of the Links could have Bomchus instead of normal bombs.

Raw speed is around the same, but with any wired connection you'll get much better connection quality, fewer dropped packets, and less ping.

i made a Mushroom kingdom stage (Smash64) but it doesn´t look well...
I made a box to farm parts and an aerial stage.

I think Smash has a bit of a RPS system. Sword beats Fighter, Gunner beats Sword, Fighter beats Gunner. At least, that's what my amiibo cpu 9 training has lead me to believe. Of course, the problem is that most characters aren't so cut and dry as to fall squarely in a single class.
