Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Soul Sacrifice Delta works on EU PS TV. Bought the game yesterday and despite PSN telling you it won't work, it does indeed work. Just ignore the PSN warnings and get gaming.

I just picked up Playstation TV, there any must haves for the platform, only got Persona 4 Golden (bought it digital on sale a long time ago) and the lego movie game (came with the device)

When do you think this device will get a price crash? Below $50/£30 seems like a good price point for me considering it's severely gimped in my country.

I'd add Virtue's Last Reward as a must play. Should play 999 first though.

Also: Started playing Soul Sacrifice Delta today and boy I am enjoying the heck out of this game so far. All I expected was some fun gameplay - what I didn t expect though was great atmosphere, sweet soundtrack and surprisingly competent writing. Super enchanting package with lots of character. I really, really dig the worldbuilding SSD does in its lore section. Of the 6 hours I played so far I spent like over an hour just reading stuff about places, enemies and the history of the country. The game manages to piece together a vivid, rich and living world. Consider me shocked at how good this has been so far.

Game works flawlessly on PS TV and playing it with a Dualshock 4 is a pleasure.

The price is already dirt cheap, I wouldn't expect much below the $80 deals unless a store completely stopped stocking them or it went out of production. It's...really damn cheap.

lol? this a device that can't even let you stream netflix or have any real media apps in the UK, lets not forget the fact that I need to buy a controller for this as well as a bigger memory card as the 8GB will not cut in the long run.

I don't expect this thing to rock NPD sales, unless Sony can give us a rocket-bottom price for this thing. Otherwise it's a niche device for an already niche userbase.

A hundred bucks with a mem card and controller is rock bottom to me, but what do i know.

Nothing you've mentioned makes it any cheaper to produce or distribute. "I don't like it" doesn't magically lower real prices for electronics

Hi guys,

I am very tempted to buy this mostly for remote playing my PS4.

The issue I have is that the TV I want to hook it up does not have a HDMI port but an old DVI.

I saw there are some adapters online, but since DVI does not bring audio, my question is: does game sound goes thhrough the DS4 jack as it does on a normal PS4?

That would solve my problem, I do not mind using headphones for remote playing :)

Thank you.

Soo how cumbersom is it to change accounts on that thing? I hate the long process with my vita so i rarely swap cards anymore (1 main 2 for other regions).

It's a Vita, should be exactly the same in that regard. There's a few things it does differently of course but accounts isn't one of them

I just realised that Ys Celceta doesn't work. Gutted. Playing that was one of the main reasons I got a Playstation TV now instead of later :(

I wonder is Amazon UK offers returns if I've opened the system and put my account on already

Did some quick digging around and came across this email someone got from XSEED in regards to Ys IV

"Unfortunately, as of right now there are no plans to release a patch to make the game compatible with PS TV due to scheduling conflicts with the development team. We continue to cross our fingers in hopes that the situation will change in the future, but we can't make any guarantees at this point."

Well that's dissapointing. I was so happy to finally play Ys with a controller on a TV that when it didn't work i was gutted. I figured a patch was coming but I guess not. Ah well, the next Ys game is on PS4 so i can play it there

Oh and a quick chat with Amazon UK turns how they do offer refunds with 30 days as long as you retain all the boxes components. Guess my Playstation TV is going back after a week of doing nothing on it!

ouch! :(

Thank you for answering. Looks like have to wait until I get a new tv in that room.

There are HDMI audio extractors which are relatively affordable - check a couple of pages back in this thread, there were links. One of those will let you pipe the audio to headphones or some powered speakers, and then you should be able to use a HDMI-DVI cable to connect to your monitor.

I just picked up a PSTV and a 7" 720p TV and am making a coffee table unit.

Perfect for playing while the rest of the house is using the main TV. It all arrives tonight, woo!

A coffee table unit?

Depending on how ambitious I get, I may mount it and make a clean, hidden, pop-up tv in a coffee table. Or, I may make a housing for it all and keep it as a portable, netbook size PSTV system.

(I want to remote play on the couch while the rest of the house uses the TV and the vita thumbsticks give me cramps after a while.)

Is anybody plays on EU PS TV in Killzone Mercenary, Persona 4 golden and Muramasa all EU versions? Terrible mess with all this compatibility and games regions.
Besides what's with the patch adding some new games to PS TV?

As far as I know they all work. I play muramasa often and P4G is on my must buy list.

The developers are the ones that patch the games, and after that do the call to Sony so they can be whitelisted. However I wouldnt keep my expectations high with the prePSTV games made in japan :_(

In fact I'm importing Danganronppa 1 US version as I fear that EU PSTV patch doesnt happen at all...

Get an Xperia with DS4? Actually I think you can use the DS4 with the vita too, providing you're close enough to the PS4 to have the DS4 connected to it

Mine finally arrived today.

It's very much a "dead dove do not eat" moment, but it's like the thing is upscaled from 480p... I expected subnative games to look like that but even the system menu is blurred, and I'm playing on a 24' monitor.

In any case, it's enough for what I wanted: playing Toukiden and other stuff with a DS4. I'd probably sell it if Vita ever gets controller support, though.

Well the monitor won't help, assuming it is 1080p and PSTV is outputting at 720p it'll be badly upscaled. I thnk it looks ok on my 24" monitor, but obviously not ideal. Have you tried 1080i? In theory it should be better because it is a 2x multiple of the native resolution and matches the monitor resolution. The interlacing might kill it though.

That would make too much sense, so no.

That's very unfortunate, I have a vita and kind of blind bought this and sort of feel I might have got a paper weight. In reality I was kind of approaching it as a Vita game player and nothing more, so reading that so many games don't work has discouraged me quite a bit. I just wanted to play them on a big tv I guess.

Cool. So which screen would be best to hook it up to? My 1080p 24" monitor or my 1080p 46" HDTV? Does it upscale differently?

Also, is Lumines: Electronic Symphony supported yet?

It'll look better on the 24" because stretching 544p to 1080p doesn't give great results, but it'll be less pronounced on the smaller screen.

Music Unlimited seriously isn't supported on Vita TV? WTF?

I subbed to it this week so I could have music in my living room, (Vita TV) den, (PS3) and office. (PS4) I got it going in my living room with remote play, but not having Music Unlimited on Vita TV seems like a huge oversight.
