Are you fucking kidding me? Why even fucking introduce a war scenario and then completely ignore it. Though my hopes for one more Varric and Bolin episode are rising.

Who says they're completely ignoring it? This is probably going to directly tie into the Kuvira stuff if they figure out that the vines are acting up because of her interference.

Dang you always on top of the new stuff.
I see all
korrasami will not happen

Yeah i'm guessing this might be the final push that gets Republic City finally motivated to help Korra take down Kuvira. Stop her messing with the vines which are also in turn kidnapping Republic City citizens.

So looks like the AV Club reviewer for Korra liked this weeks episode of Korra.

Reaction to it

Woah now, the episode hasn't even aired yet. Let's relax before season 2 comparisons.

Lol fair enough. But I hate how they are juggling the war plot like they did with Book 2s civil war (which lacked depth and was all over the place and then pushed to the background entirely). The episode itself is probably great I'm sure. But I'm just shaking my head at how they are dealing with the main plot this season.

I dunno...generally the reviewers I see are pretty biased and forgiving.

Reviewers are always forgiving of this show. I haven't seen too much criticism of the show from the critic side of things. That said, while I haven't been a fan of this seasons main plot pacing, and overall structure, I've really liked each episode on its own as 22 min of entertainment. So I'm sure this will at least be good in that sense.

Having watched ThunderCats 2011 and TMNT 2012 on Toonami, I can understand why reviewers who cover action cartoons a lot would be so forgiving of Korra. xP

Yeah, plus for all of its flaws it still does some amazing stuff. Especially when you compare it to most Western animation it seems very ambitious. I would say that and the legacy of the overall Avatar universe makes people a bit more lenient on it.

Thunder Cats 2011 started out kind of strong. Actual thought provoking, but then it just kind of spiraled into confusion.

TMNT 2012...While I personal prefer the 2003 Cartoon over it. I can see it being a lighthearted story with some actual character...unlike Korra's main cast, the turtles all have their likes and dislikes and I can relate to them, I actually know what most of them are going to say from scene to scene.

Honestly, I'd rate TMNT2012 over Korra in terms of Quality writing.

I dont know, a 4 foot man tried taking on Kyoshi.

and she was a confirmed 8 foot amazon with an "I don't give a fuck about consequences" attitude.

8 feet? Where did you hear that? I looked around the web and I thought it was she was a little under 6' 6", as shown by this height chart here: https://www.tumblr.com/search/lok+height+chart/recent

She needs her own show.

I know it's not canon, but in case you're interested I'm making a fan comic about Kyoshi discovering she's the avatar here: http://amirai.deviantart.com/art/Kyoshi-The-Undiscovered-Avatar-page-1-316751159

The first 41 pages give a pretty good idea about what it's like (the action heats up at page 28).

8 feet 7 feet, ehhh she was tall.

given the medical and nutritional aspects of their livelihood she could have only grown to 80% of her potential :p

Yeah, sorry if I took it too literal. Heh, I suppose if the rest of her body had grown proportionally to her feet, she might have been about that tall, though.

She is 200 years old so the lesson to learn is that Kyoshi doesn't give a fuck about the rules of nature.
it is her theme song after all

To be fair 6'6 is pretty damn tall. Especially if the medium height during that time was less than it was today.

oh god

Thundercats 2011 was so frustrating, I just couldn't stand how dense Lion-O was.

oh Thundercats 2011, it had potential.
but it was incredibly slooooow, Mum Ra was a joke, im not sure why they needed the stones when they could beat him with the sun/ a mirror, i dont remember.

And, two seasons later they have two stones? it would be much more interesting if they collected all by then, a lot of useless filler too some good, some very boring.

But it was good looking, i liked the new designs and characters,it sucked when it was cancelled.

Kuvira does have a brass set on her telling Korra to use the avatar state all she wants like she didn't even give a shit about it. I'm not sure if it's just flat out ignorance on her part or she really just thought she'd be able to take on the avatar at the height of her powers. Non hax mode Korra she beat her convincingly, hax mode Korra? Didn't stand a chance. Though yeah it's good that she didn't want her army to deal with Korra, shows that she's not afraid to lead by example. Though yeah seeing something like Kuvira being healed up or mentally preparing to take on Korra would've been interesting, but Kuvira seems to be pretty mentally prepared to deal with everything so it's probably something she did before she stepped up to fight Korra. They really do need to take some time to humanize Kuvira and you make a lot of good points regarding that. She's not a cyborg or anything and they need to make sure they portray her human side. Though I am interested in seeing an actual flashback with younger kuvira and Su during a training session or something.

I'm just thinking Kuvira guessed Korra still wasn't at 100% for that duel.

Other points are solid though. We still haven't really seen a reason for Kuvira to be a big threat yet other than the spirit vines and her charisma (towards the beginning of the season). I get the appeal of doing a villain that's imposing simply through the sheer force of their personality and ability to lead, but it's a tough thing to do. I'm not sure it could be done very well in the span of time they have with Season 4. It took a whole TLA-sized season just to establish how much of a magnificant bastard Azula was.

God damn Thundercats 2011 just fucked up one crucial aspect. With the romance between Cheetarah and Lion-o. The M Night Shyamalan twist at the end was fucking horrible writing and afterwards I couldn't forgive the show for it and coincidentally couldn't forgive other flaws on the show.

TMNT 2012 though is great and has consistently better writing and entertainment than Korra for me.

Oliver Sava, who reviews LoK for the A.V. Club and was the one who first revealed "Remembrances" was a clip show and complained about it. He got to watch this Friday's one, "Beyond the Wilds" and
tweeting that the episode is supposedly unexpected, but very good.

He also revealed the official plot synopsis, which is:

Episode 9 was when Zaheer killed the Earth Queen last season right?

Looks like Korra has started taking after GoT and having shit go down in the 9th episode. Hopefully this is where the season speeds up.

That was actually episode 10 and episode 9 was the stakeout episode at Misty Palms Oasis. But yeah looks like from some of the recent information the pace is going to get considerably faster with these remaining episodes or as Bryan likes to state Poop Gets Real.

Guessing he's finished the score for the Book 4 finale now. Can't wait to hear it.

I feel like the most interesting thing that can happen in the next 24 hrs is if I book mark that spoilar post and read it after I've watched this week's ep.

Or maybe I can drink 4 liters of water and lock the bathroom doors.

Well this is interesting looks like Nick are airing Book 4 episodes in batches of three on Nicktoons starting this Friday. Possibly to catch up in time for the finale maybe?
I suppose it's something at least. They're also having a Book 3 marathon on Nicktoons tonight.

His feelings should only be broken once he gets these soundtracks out there.

lol thought you were saying the remaining episodes would be aired in 3's. BOOOOOO

That said, it's probably likely Nick does a special 2 two part series finale movie type thing on Nick.

I thought this season wasn't airing on TV???

It wasn't. But then Nick started airing them on their side channel. But it looks like they are now marathoning episodes in blocks. What makes this interesting, is that they are probably ramping up for the series finale. Possibly, they will do it like the ATLA series finale and make it like a mini movie event.

Oh man, the Republic City Dispatch podcast is unbearable. Talk about forgiving.

One can wish. It should be Nick instead feeling broken for not releasing those soundtracks.
Shakes fist at nick.

Haha yeah that would be pretty nice but with the way Nick is rushing them I don't think they have enough completed episodes to do such a thing and last we heard they had just completed production on episode 9 only four weeks ago so they must be in full panic mode attempting to finish the episodes in time.
Must be fun happy times for Mike and Bryan right now.

Happy Thanksgiving, KorraGAF.

Thanksgiving...?

Happy Thanksgiving.
