Bit the bullet on lots of irresponsible video game spending just now.

Wish there were better options available to try games before buying when they're on console you don't own. Here's hoping I like KI as much as I want to.

Why did you buy it when you don't own an X1 yet? It doesn't seem to be on sale, either.

I didn't buy KI itself, I bought the X1 and a TE2, and when they come in I'll go on the console store and buy KI, then see how wise of a purchase it was.

Oh, I see. As much as I want to play KI I can't justify it yet, especially considering that I need an arcade stick as well.
Also true!
I'd like to see you lose to me. No way that'll happen.

Surprised nobody has posted the B1G1 on KE sticks.

Unless you have, then my bad.

I got one of those earlier this year when they were 80 bucks. On the one hand, kinda wishing I held out now. On the other hand - I've been having a shit-ton of fun playing with it since I got it, and I don't really have people over all that often to run games of ST and 3S as often as I'd like, so just having the one isn't really hurting me any.

Have yet to actually run into any GAFfers on Steam with my scrubby Poison, though.

I'll play you sometime

Real Talk this kid is what...19 or something and is only gonna get shit ton better while these old people (Daigo, and Crew) won't be able to keep up. The future is bright for Smug.

Shiiit, I own KI2 for Xbone, but I'm so bad at it I wouldn't even be able to tell if the netcode is bad. Everything in the game feels weird enough as-is to me.
Add me. Net code is easily one f the best out there. There rollback system is incredibly weird though. Even though it's DSP it's worth checking out.

Correction: Delay-based netcode confirmed for 98UMFE.

It still might be decent. I hope. I can't be too mad because I didn't spend any money, I sold a bunch of TF2 items and paid with my steam wallet.

Arc and Namco don't use rollback-based netcode and their games are pretty good online. So I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt since I haven't seen or heard anything bad about their past projects that involved the addition of online multiplayer. I've only run across acidglow's video, how their netcode fixed MKAK, and nidhogg's improved netcode on PS4/Vita over the PC's.

Most of the discussion with them is happening in the game's forum on Steam if you're interested in more. So we'll see how things go.

That's KI3, and it was fixed in a patch IIRC.

Yeah, I was looking to test their netcode with KI2 myself. Not the same game, bla bla bla, but if it sucked then it would be a good indicator of what's to come.

Melee Ganon was so beautifully outside the box. He still fit the grappler archetype while being the most mobile/flexible character of that ilk. He's great aesthetically, too. Despite looking strong, he still has a sense of litheness to him.

Absolutely crestfallen by his Brawl/Smash WiiU interpretations. Just awful. His run animation alone makes me want to delete him from the game.

Well said. I loved playing Melee Ganon. Brawl Ganon is just misery and frustration. He's not even a shadow of his former self, he's a torture device.

ArcSys' netcode isn't very good, IMO. I think people say this because it's been better than Capcom's for about half a decade, but that's because Capcom's efforts have been awful. Namco does do a better job, but in Tekken they kind of cheat (since the game has some built-in input lag, even offline) and I think they do use some form of state adjustment -- mainly that the game will snap animations forward in certain circumstances (VF5:FS does something similar online). I also know it's possible to get it to fairly reliably desync under certain circumstances. :x

I'll be honest -- I'm not pre-ordering the game because it's using delay-based netcode. At the very least, I'll wait for impressions and then buy it around the Winter sale (they'll probably either have the pre-order discount or none. Honestly, I'm OK taking an L there sales-wise). At least it sounds like they know how to implement delay-based netcode in a fighting game.

Wait, so America actually gets her before?
You get her free if you pre-order. If you don't, you have to wait until the 16th before you can have the privilege of paying $8.95 to play her. Whereas anyone in the US heads-up enough to download her during launch week (in the US) gets her for free.

Agreed. The Ocarina of Time look is just superior to the Twilight Princess look for me.

He's just a heavy palette swap of Captain Falcon tho

I'm assuming you're just being blackule, but just in case you're serious...

No.

The Musou game has the dopest look yet, but even if that makes it into Smash 4 as DLC, it'll still be marred by that version's abhorrent gameplay/physiological interpretations.

New Wu Tang Album, Finale to the Lord of the Rings, and then Xrd the very next day.

Gonna be a hype December.

In Project M they made him his own character. Has Marios Cape, an extremely powerful (nearly guaranteed KO from 0% taunt) and a float similar to that of Mewtwo. No more warlock punch. But he has a new dash and special effects.

4 inches of snow. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody. Be free. Like GB.

To be honest, even I join in. It gives me a reason to eat more Turkey.

Daigo (33 this year) is old. He won't be able to keep up with Smugs raw speed & ferocity when Smug hits his prime age of 25-30 by that time Daigo will be 40+.

No hate. It is sad, but father time catches up with everyone. Smug is the future.

If being good at a young age is your only criterion here then JWong should be the best FG player in the world right now.

Reflexes actually decline fairly slowly with age. It's been shown to be one of the last skills to deteriorate in professional athletes and it's one of the reasons elite hitters in baseball can keep playing through their late 30s. I wouldn't expect Daigo at 40 to be much worse than he is now -- any marginal loss in his reflexes or hand-eye coordination would be offset by the additional experience. The Evo Seniors Tour could very well be A Thing 20-30 years from now. :x

I know a lot of professional players in other games (like Starcraft 2 and LoL) come and go at very young ages, but that has more to do with the absolutely brutal schedules those games and leagues demand, along with the fact that eeeeeeeeee-sports money still kind of sucks. It's understandable for someone to retire young when taking the 9-5 is both easier and more profitable.
