Cesaro to appear on AoW in a year's time.
IMO WWE is self-imploding. Their decision making, their behind the times attitude, burrying new guys not making new talent, over-reliant of older start. FUCK. This is just like WCW! :O
We've got Lucha Underground as a new promotion with backing, and NJPW is breaking into the US now (and they are secure because they make all their money back in Japan, this US incursion will solely be extra money for them if it succeeds).
Those are two far superior products to the WWE.
They repackaged the entire company so that the bosses wife could run for Senate.

That was the day he was mad enough and fed up enough to quit. Why wouldn't you think he said that?
This is the best part. This is what he says he said to HHH and Vince the night he walked out.
"You have shackled me, you have creatively stifled me, you have made this a very toxic environment, I no longer want to be here. It boggles my mind how Daniel Bryan has not figured into your plans to be in the main event of WrestleMania because this is his year. Just like two years ago when it was my year and I was white f----- hot, just like he is now, and what did you do? You fed me to this guy.' And I pointed to right at Hunter. Vince was like, 'This is the concussion talking. I can't believe you're saying any of this. It is a main event - you're wrestling Triple H."
I like what I've seen of LU but it just doesn't have the financial backing to compete with WWE realistically. New Japan breaking into the US is good but I think that's more for the hardcore wrestling fans. I just can't see kids and more casual fans caring too much as it will be too hard for the characters and storylines to translate over and that's really what most of them watch WWE for. If some new startup with money from big wigs (say for the sake of argument, Mark Cuban) came along and started throwing big money and favorable contracts to guys like Punk or Bryan or Jericho they could make waves, but the I can't see anyone look at the landscape of pro wrestling right now (which, let's be honest, is basically WWE) and say " I need to get a piece of that pie!"
The irony is the fact they shitted on WCW numerous times for the same reasons. Yet, they bring back a 56 year old sting in the mist of a younger dolph ziggler having his moment.
Very much looking forward to Claudio Castagnoli's NJPW debut, he'll fit right in.
Ted Turner should try again.
I think Sinclair uses some money to nab him up, even though they've been disappointed with their return on investment. Don't need more Bullet Club brahs....Very much looking forward to Claudio Castagnoli's NJPW debut, he'll fit right in.
It doesn't need to directly compete with WWE, that was TNA's mistake. It just needs to be a viable alternative.
Really highlights the week to week to day of booking.I liked this exchange
<Vince> It's going to be you and Brock at Summerslam
<Punk> Great! Who's going over?
<Vince> uh....Brock.
<Punk> Great! Who's going to show up for work on Monday?
<Vince> ...*silence*...

Yeah but I'm talking more about a product that has more of a mainstream/crossover appeal. Stuff like ROH, New Japan in America and LU will never have that. They will be good products for the more die hard wrestling fans but won't really appeal to the mainstream. With how much WWE is struggling though, you have to question just how much of that "mainstream wrestling" pie is left though. Maybe wrestling just peaked in the mid to late 90s and will never, ever be that big again. In which case a scenario like Turner/Warner funding WCW probably won't happen again and WWE will be left to reign over their ever shrinking kingdom all by themselves.
Its hard to be a viable alternative when your shows are on networks no one gets. I don't have El Ray or Axs. So I doubt casuals will go out of there way to watch the shows on dailymotion.
WWE is now 1 and 2 since the collapse of TNA. If Lucha or New Japan were on Spike then they could be competition.
Hell the last time WWE thought of someone as competition was wrestling society x on Mtv 2.
I will forever be salty about this. To make matters worse she didn't even win.

Nah, there are alternatives thanks to the Internet.
ROH and New Japan matches I caught briefly on YouTube look much more involved than the WWE currently is.

Yeah, I was gonna say... I don't think WWE is mainstream at all these days.
CM Punk is such a blow hard. I'm guessing this is incredibly one sided, because, well, it's cm punk.
I stopped supporting WWE a year ago and life couldn't be better. It's so nice knowing that I don't have to spend 2 or 3 hours of my life a week watching complete inane shit.
Vince, HHH, and everyone have lost it. WWE is such garbage these days, it amazes me people here on GAF still watch it religiously knowing it will NEVER get better. Enjoy watching Cena and HHH hog the spotlight for the next 20 years.
Really hoping the for company to tank completely. It will be glorious to see.
It's big with kids, but I don't think it has that crossover appeal at all anymore. I was in high school during the Monday Night Wars stuff and even jocks were sporting Rock and Austin shirts. It was cool to like them. But the reason it became cool back then (the 'attitude' era, people cursing on TV, pushing the envelope) can't really be replicated. 16 year olds in 2014 are not going to care about a wrestler saying 'shit' on basic cable.

Actually if Lucha Underground manages to move from Unimas to Univision, and gets a primetime slot, it will actually likely have more viewers than RAW on the USA Network.
You're forgetting Lucha Underground airs in Spanish on Unimas, and has been getting good viewership even on a poor timeslot of Saturday afternoon. The Latino market is strong for wrestling, and WWE are doing a piss poor job of appealing to them right now.
Well to be fair WWE was heading in that direction with the summer of punk stuff. You would think WWE would capitalize on the younger talent meanwhile keeping their current product pg for sponsors. Yet, Vince will be Vince. I still mourn over the TLC picture of champions

This was suppose to be the future of the wwe![]()
Daniel Bryan is there most mainstream star right now. The guy was involved with the super bowl champions. He was celebrating with the Giants on there World Series win and was with the team on the floats. He was interviewed by news networks and by SI. Though WWE is pulling a WCW by not showing it on Raw.
Wow so he was pretty willing to come back after wrestleamania, but it looks like HHH and/or Vince got a little pissy and just fired him. That was a terrible business decision.
All that mainstream exposure, doe.
Getting on TMZ is a sure fire way to piss off the McMahon's even more.

Listened to the entire thing... fascinating shit. The only thing I can't comprehend is why AJ still works with the company. She's constantly in shitty angles, obviously doesn't need the money, and can go work at another organization if she loves the business that much... Go home and be a family woman.
What are they going to do about it? Bury Cesaro even further than they have already?Cesaro just retweeted the podcast. Somebody gonna get their ass kicked.
Yeah, I get the impression Punk hoped to come back sometime down the road when he healed up and do the part-time gig himself - probably to put the full-time guys over ala Jericho. It would have been good business for all parties. But that wedding day stunt and those royalty/back pay shenanigans burned that bridge irreparably.I liked the interview.
The most eye-opening thing of it all seemed like Punk was intending/expecting to come back, and seemed like the WWE was just like... nope, we can't do that.

Punk makes Chris Amann sound like Dr Nick.
Won't stop people from subbing to the network in hopes that it will get better though.
