Super Smash Bros. for Wii U |OT| True Potential of Smash Bros.

So, Olimar/Alph was kind of busted on the 3DS version, but I actually think he's pretty good here. Great range on his grab, and forward smash. His aerials have decent range and can autocancel (including his d-air). You can do a ton of damage to someone if your pikmin are latched onto them. You can also cancel the pluck animation into anything. He doesn't really have a hard time KOing either.
Isn't he the same here as he was on 3DS?

Sort of. The Pikmin in the 3DS version would do really weird stuff like randomly run off to the other side of the stage or they would run off the stage and magically teleport back to you. There were a couple of times where they would just freeze in place and become unusable. I haven't ran into any of these issues on the Wii U version. I haven't tried him after the patch though on the 3DS version, so I'm not sure if he was fixed.

The worst thing about Olimar in 3DS was that Pikmin AI was busted and would constantly separate from him, leading to tons of empty moves.

I'm not really that sold on Olimar in spite of that problem being absent in this version. Show me the receipts!

Ganondorf is such a frustrating character. So many of his moves are godlike (Uair, Fair, Bair, Dtilt), but his mobility makes him a total pain to play. I used to main him...now I'm all about his esteemed son Captain Falcon. Though a part of me still longs for the 'Dorf.
You and me both. I get punished so easily playing as the dorfmeister. And with Falcon, I can't connect his knee anymore or I suicide a lot. :(

I'm so bad at this game. :lol

Can't even beat one mii in Cruel Melee to unlock Duck Hunt. ;-;

I couldn't do it either with my three best characters.
Then I used Little Mac and did his counter uppercut (Down+Special) and got 5 KOs on my very first try with him.

I don't think any top players use him even in this version lol. He's being slept on I think. : p

Olimar was fundamentally broken in the 3DS version, so there's good reason for him to be slept on in that one.

Not sure with the Wii U version but the 3DS version's Olimar left such a rotten first impression that I really can't get into him. I really hate the three Pikmin limit. He always feels like he's playing with half a deck.

Good Games man. Keep at it. Your Yoshi is still pretty damn good.

Yoshi is the only character I have been using, pretty much, so everyone else has been neglected xD Now I find Bowser too slow, and pretty much impossible to use against a ranged-user. I have picked up Samus, but she has only be used like 10 times.

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble being "good" at this game. I recall feeling quite confident in my abilities back 10 years ago with melee.

I've practiced a range of fighters and so far have found myself most comfortable with kirby and yoshi. I want badly to play samus (or zss) but for some reason just can't seem to do well as them.

Oh my god, I was playing the Wrecking Mario event, and one of the Warios grabbed a hammer and hit me with it. Mario hit the screen, but the last floor came down right before I was KO'd.

I don't. :P

Anyway, I need more practice against Greninja, you're the only I've ever played against lol. I have no idea what the fuck it does.
Yeah, he's got some funky stuff at his disposal. Once you get used to Shadow Sneak, you'll probably be able to punish me a lot for using it.

Hi guys, i'll be picking up the game tomorrow, is it possible to unlock all characters with my 3ds copy?
No, the characters have to be unlocked again, save Ness, Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, and Bowser Jr., who were switched to be starting characters. Some of the remaining eight have new unlock conditions as well.

In fact, linking to the 3DS version does not unlock anything in the Wii U version that you've unlocked in the 3DS version. The only thing you can do is use the 3DS as a controller in "Smash" modes only as well as transfer any custom characters you have made. This does not unlock any moves or costumes that the custom character has in the Wii U version, this just makes it possible to use them--you aren't allowed to alter them.

Shit ain't right. So many for glory people immediately counter if you beat them by picking a projectile character which doesn't help.

Create a Mii Brawler with lots of power equipment, and the custom specials where they kick their legs sideways, preferable a side special, and repeatedly do that with a small group of cruel fighters. I've gotten up to the mid 20's doing that. Its effortlessly simple. :)

I loathe the fact that I have to select my name every time to get my control option. Why didn't they have a default control option setting or sth like that?

Also, 2/3 matches online so far have been pretty laggy :/

Other than that, game is phenomenal

1) Because their logic was a game for multiple, not for self.
2) Thats probably you, not them. S-sorry

Dang that is time consuming. I got 11 KOs in cruel in about a minute using Lucina. Stand near a ledge and shield grab the Miis behind you. Kills at 0%. If a lot come to you, hop on the ledge and abuse invincibility.

wait how does this work?

Now that online is up in EU, feel free to add me, NNID: Hellfire
I'm a pretty relaxed player, not competitive at all, but I can handle myself :p

Wtf? Doing it wrong!
I just don't have that competitive spirit, there's nothing wrong with it. Hell, Smash is perfect for that. I'm not saying I don't try to win, I'm just not very competitive and don't usually bother too much with learning very advanced stuff or doing things I find cheap or boring to do.

It was a joke lol.

Any way to put all your Smash attacks on the Wiimote D-Pad (like in Brawl), using the Nunchuk too of course.

Just testing out different setups, and in Brawl that was actually super effective once you got used to it.

Edit: Maybe I'm too drunk already, but I see zero option to do so (only shake smashes), so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Seriously, "GAF Smash Community"...I go away for hours to hang out with the family and drink more with my grandfather and roommates...and nobody in the community has ANY answer to this simple question... I expected some high experienced people constantly scouting posts for help out tips, but I get nothing.

So yeah, WTF, and can/how do you put Smash attacks on your Wiimote D-Pad like you could in Brawl?
