I'm not sure if this has already been said but it's been confirmed by the studio that it was indeed Andy Serkis doing the voiceover.

Seriously? Do we have any idea of his role in this / future Star Wars films? Is he a Sith? Is he some sort of creature? A mystery?

Really digging the movement from the Sith dude. A nice change from the typical samurai stance we always get.

This is my favorite scene after the X-Wing scene. He looks so menacing.

I've watched this trailer 30 times today.

Someone help me.

gawd i know. watched it on youtube a handful of times, downloaded it and watched it a few more times, copied it over to my ps3 and been watching in on my tv since. been texting my brother all day about it. completely loving it and soaking it all up.

I can't believe people are honestly upset over the lightsaber....

Why wouldn't they be? Every time there's a new modified light sabre, it's a big deal. And unlike Darth Maul's, this one is not that different from your typical sabre, while looking both dumb and impractical.

And honestly, the CG looks pretty bad too. It looks like they blew their budget on everything else that they saved the light sabre effects for last.

It's really just you

Whoops. I meant the original trilogy, not Eps 1,2 and 3.

A mystery. I don't think they've officially identified any of the characters except the OT ones. And even if you deep dive into hardcore spoilers, I have only heard the scantest speculation on what Serkis' role is.

He sounds like such a nice guy. :P

I bet all my money on super evil overlord.

Haha, yeah he certainly sounds evil no doubt about that, but I was just curious if we actually knew his role or if the studio has managed to keep it a secret. Like is he an actual Sith Lord or just some other type of evil character. Hell theoretically that cloaked figure with the new sword could even be him.

Seriously, for a first shot it's kinda brilliant. It's different and sorta funny and kinetic, but with classic nods. Bogey's mannerisms in that brief few seconds remind me of Indiana Jones or Han Solo, someone who's sorta in over their head and frazzled - a welcome shift from the stodgy, uptight prequel characters we spent so much time with.

Honestly I saw that first scene and immediately felt a sense of relief/confidence in this whole Ep7-9 thing.

100% agree. 100%.

Given the title, you get the feeling that he is suddenly starting to become aware of the force or something. You nailed it with the indy/solo comparisons.

You know, I agree. And even though my first reaction to the hilt is "this is dumb," I DO like the effect of that slightly-delayed activation. The saber design is dumb, but the overall timing and motion of the shot is pretty awesome.

Good use of steadicam.

Well it's kind of agreed on that the Sith is Adam driver so he is not that Sith.

I have read some stuff, I believe there are solid theories on who Serkis is.

What? I see nothing wrong with the effects and you do realize this movie is 13 months away from release. I'm sure the CGI has time to get better than it already looks.

There's something off about it. The energy emitted doesn't look like it normally does.

I can't believe people still say 'retarded' to be derogatory. So insensitive.

Anyway, watched the trailer again when I woke up. There's something I can't quite put my finger on, but it feels much more like the OT than the new trilogy ever did. Maybe I'm being thrown by the ships, but I think it's mostly the use of practical effects. Hopefully we're not going to be subjected to actors in single shots being stitched together from multiple takes like in AotC (I think it was that one).

Fair enough, he seems to be stomping about at something. It just seems like one of those overt shots to let us know that this dude is a badass. I don't want that in Star Wars.

LOL. Darth Vader scenes in every film are literally nothing besides overt shots of showing that dude was a badass. Non stop force choke killing mother fuckers and just talking non stop shit to all the rebels / Jedi.

Sick shot. Seriously this whole trailer is filmed with some gorgeous cinematography in my opinion. The Millennium Falcon scene, the X-Wings soaring barely above the water, this ominous ass shot of the new Sith..........goosebumps.

Agree 100%. I haven't been excited about Star Wars in decades. This teaser changed everything for me.

The new lightsaber looks to be Claymore inspired! Between the length and the hilt, it looks to be a much stronger version than the regular saber. Granted, it's probably as light as a regular saber, but probably has more power than it.

As for the light 'hilt' that it has, that's probably a sort of exhaust pipe for excess energy, which probably explains the length of it.

They are handled quite differently. The style is completely different, but I mainly mean stuff like the posing for a brief second or two to look cool as fuck. It's lame, and decidedly modern. But hey, I'm interested to see where Ep. 7 takes us.

Now keep in mind I'm a fan of Star Wars but not super hardcore into the lore. It is my understanding however that there is always at least 2 Sith correct? A master and an apprentice. So even if Adam Driver is the "main" Sith wouldn't there have to be another? Possibly Serkis character?
