The fuck are people crying about a lightsaber for...Those talking about the self made/ventilation theories are probably on point, look at the shaft of that thing, it almost looks like a flame. Far from a normal lightsaber.

I've kind of been a defender of the special editions over the years, but the changes to the Blu Ray version with the "NOOOOOO" added to a far more important scene than Han shooting first drove me over to the "Fuck you Lucas" camp. He went too far.

If you wanna look at it with that metatextual eye: If the main villain is some sort of Star Wars fanboy who thinks he knows how the Star Wars Universe works better than everyone else does, It's sorta like how the Incredibles' villain isn't a regular supervillain, it's something even scarier: a die-hard superhero fan.
Yeah, it was a compromise. Iger wanted Summer 2015, Abrams wanted Summer 2016. December 2015 split the difference, gave Abrams a little more time, and Iger got to keep his promise to shareholders about Episode 7 hitting in 2015.

Assuming the spoilers I've read are accurate:
if the character we're looking at is the "grave robber"/"sith collector", a sort of groupie dark side user who collects sith artifacts, and the sword is some sort of antique sith photo-lightsaber he dug up someplace that's more powerful (but also more unstable) than the normal "modern" variety

Saberstaff was just Lucas fucking around, reading expanded universe novels trying to incorporate it into canon history made me laugh. With saberstaff, a lot of your movements are limited, the only advantage of using one is not many people are used to fighting against one.

The schedule they gave him was bullshit, especially after ford broke his foot. Summer 16 should have been the date, but hey we get it early and a lot of magic happened in the franchise when rushed.

Yeah it's rough. I'd be fine with a few of the very basic, conservative fixes (dodgy saber effects in ANH, Vader's saber looking pink in a few scenes in ROTJ, etc.). But Lucas started to go hog wild on those movies, it's pretty sad.

I am like the most accepting SW fan, nothing really bothered me. That pissed me the fuck off, he totally crossed the line. The best scene of the entire series, it was perfect, it's my favorite movie scene of all time and he did that.

this is a big problem with disney. their subsidiary company marvel studios is putting out movies like they're on an assembly line, it shows with the overall universe too imo. and i think disney want to do that with the star wars franchise too. it's already a wack sign when they hired gareth edwards for a spinoff, dude's such a bland safe choice.
i hope rian johnson can put out some good movies in the rushed schedule. they killed it with this trailer though, got me extremely hyped and almost certain it's gonna be the only movie in 2015 to hit 2 billion.
