Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

Anyone looking to get black flag, you can purchase Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris for $17.99 from UPlay and have a choice for a free game.

Some choices include Assassins Creed: Black Flag, Watch_Dogs, and South Park.

So get Black Flag and Lara Croft for 17.99. Lara Croft and South Park are confirmed Steamworks.

The process to get all the emails was slow but it eventually worked. Thanks. I got South Park

Japanese publishers don't release games in Asia for the most part. Go figure.

Mostly it just Konami and Sega somehow. Capcom with their strange pricing here is nearly all available/ The rest of Bamco titles are available as well, and Dark Souls II also there since day one even though Dark Souls didn't present. That makes me suspect the absence of Dark Souls is because GFWL, which mostly didn't have support in Asia region IIRC. As with Sega.....people said that Valkyria Chronicles isn't available in Asia but I bought it day one here (Indonesia). I guess in Sega case, they don't published it in Eastern Asia while the rest of the region got it. Mostly it's whole Eastern and Southeastern Asia just like Konami's case with MGR.

If you are in the UK or EU, it looks like Bugbear secretly increased Next Car Game Wreckfest's price before putting it on a "50% off" sale.

Old price was £19.99 / €22.99. New price is £22.99 / €27.99 and then they put it 50% off the new price. They did not increase the price in the US so what the fuck is going on?

Seems to be the new thing the cool kids are doing. But its okay we have had a few apologists already on the subject.

Steam lists this for MK9:

Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA
Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition EULA

Anything I should be worried about?

EDIT: Looks like it's on all WB games, so probably not a big deal.

just terrible netcode and compressed as hell cutscenes. There's a HUUUUGGEEE mod you can get that replaces the cutscenes with the ones from the PS3 version, but theres nothing you can do about the netcode unfortunately.

If you're at all a lover of strategy games, and 4X games in particular, and you have the time to play this now, then Endless Legend is a great buy at 50% off - I'm confident that you wouldn't regret it at this price.

It's polished, well supported (a very meaty patch/add-on was released a couple of days ago), has that Civ-like just-one-more-turn character to it, but is innovative in several areas as well. The varied faction design and associated quest system is reason enough to play through as each of the eight factions at least once, so there's plenty of value here. The UI and music are terrific as well.

Endless Legend will be somewhere in my GOTY top five, for what that's worth. :)

My main problem with Civ and what's kept me from buying Beyond is that the end of matches for me took forevvvvvver to finish. I'd love the beginning of match fighting for territory and being very choosy on what to build and where to go, but then as the game went on the mass production and lengthy goals ruined it for me. How does the match flow in Endless Legend? Is it endless?

Can anyone comment on how The Banner Saga on PC compares to iOS? They are both discounted at $5 right now and I was wondering if there was any reason (performance and UI in particular) to prefer one over the other.

I can't find the article I read the other day, and I'm at work so I can't dedicate much time to look for it, but the author goes through Capcom, SE, Konami, Sega, and and a few other Japanese publishers and lists the missing titles and other egregious problems they have. It's rather frustrating, but I think Capcom and SE are getting better and are now releasing most things here. But there are some big gaps in past titles. I'd love to grab FF 7 and 8, but I can't. But no one is as bad as Sega and Konami, I would by Valkyria in a heart beat.

One of my favorites from last year....

Hmm , I am not liking the new steam layout in conjunction with the sales. It is a bit messy and i am not even sure if i am looking at a flash sale or a daily or if there is voting for the next flash sale etc. Any way to get a more "old style " overview ?

There is no voting or flash deals. If there were then Valve would make it really clear on the front page.

The only deals that are going on during this event are discounts that are storewide and lasts for 6 days, discounts on a set of games that last for 48 hours, and discounts on a set of games that last for 24 hours.

There's no flash sales or voting. On the top of the page you see the 48-hours dailies and in the bottom the 24-hours dailies. Both get replaced everyday(the 48 hours dailies go on "behind the scenes". That's it.

I worked black friday retail so I don't have time to read through the thread to see if this has been asked before, but I am wondering if the Euro Truck Sim 2 DLC Going East is worth it at 85% off. I haven't even started the main game but I am curious if I don't need the DLC or if the game is better with it.

Bought Armageddon alongside Endless Legends and Wolfenstein, because why the hell not?
I reserved the rest (Lords of the Fallen, LotR: Shadow of Mordor) for winter sale.

It's just a little janky when it comes to saving.

If you're referring to my issue the other day, I think that was just a freak occurrence. I had no save troubles throughout the preceding ~60 hours. On the bright side, though, going through the last mission again and not having to worry about not killing anyone made it much easier to avoid alert triggers.

Edit: D'oh, for some reason I thought you were talking about Styx.

If I purchase Dark Souls, will I need to install GFWL? I read that it's moving past this requirement but the game page says you need it to run the game. Also, should I really bother to use a controller or does it not matter too much?

Currently you still need GFWL to run it. GFWL will be patched out in December however.

And yes, you really should use a controller, the KB/M controls are dreadful.

Did Dark Souls ever get fixed on PC? 60fps, proper resolutions etc without external fixes.

No. Proper resolution support may be introduced with the Steamworks patch since it's an exceedingly simple thing, but since running the game at 60fps causes a couple of issues at certain points (there's a jump that can only be made when the game is running at 30fps and I think there's something else as well), I'd consider it unlikely.

You can also fall through the world if you slide down a ladder. Hilarious stuff.

Hmm, I may just buy it and then install it once it's patched out then, maybe.

Will do, I have an adaptor so it's no big deal. Cheers for the advice.

My next question is what are the chances of a Dark Souls 2 sale? I watched a Total Biscuit port review and it looks 100% better than that first. Has it ever been on sale? And for how much?

I don't think there are any jumps that are actually impossible, but there are certainly a few that become far more annoying at 60 fps.

Are daily deals in the Winter sale discounted more than the Autumn? There's a game that's 50% off as a daily but wasn't sure if it would be further reduced in the next sale.

Not 100% on these codes, but I think they should work!

Got Euro Truck Sim 2 after missing the Humble Bundle and Arkham Origins. Feeling dumb that I forwent Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Any chance we'll see that game hit $10? Basically all the games tagged "Walking Simulator" in Steam are on my wishlist...
