This looks way fucking better than my expectations were. I love the more worn-in look too. It's how it should be.

Lightsaber is dumb, but w/e.

Consider me aboard the hype train.

I love the fact that I can't tell what practical and what's CG about that little guy. The line is completely blurred for me.

It looks CGI to me.

Looks good but I can tell it's CGI.

Must've watched it a 100 times now. I really like the saber and coupled with the way the character who wields it moves it already oozes so much personality, just a brute force to be reckoned with. What a great teaser.

that scene looked like something out of Dark Souls. By which I mean it looked great

Lightsabers don't really make sense to begin with, so I'm a bit surprised by people complaining that the cross guard is not realistic or practical. Lightsabers aren't realistic or practical. I get it that some people think it looks bad but I like it, there's no need for every lightsaber to look and work the same way. Until we see it in action I think it's premature to say it's pointless or useless, the guy may use it as part of his fighting style.

I thought it was a good teaser, it shows enough to get people talking and start building up hype. Yet it reveals nothing about the movie.

So with Ep 8 and 9 being planned - how do you guys think this will end? Big cliffhanger like Empire or a tidier resolution like Phanton Menace/A New Hope?

I'm sorry but that droid just looks stupid and impractical. I liked everything else though, including the controversial saber.

Ep 4 had the "Gonk" droid in the first few minutes.

It basically walked around on two legs and said "Gonk."

Impractical is what droids just do apparently.

Also, look at the tiny ass wheels on the bottom of pretty much every droid in that Ep 4 picture.

Those would get stuck in any sort of sand so goddamn fast. A ball with a larger and more evenly distributed surface area makes WAYYY more sense.

Well, part of it would have to be cgi given the nature and design of the top third of this bot, but I'll be honest if I were asked if the rolling ball part was practical or cgi I wouldn't be able to discern. And really it's something I could imagine would be both practical and cgi.

Yeah this is my thought about it. Little dude was built for his environment.

The only part of the shot that made me go wow that's obviously CGI is the green ship to the far right, I'm impressed by the droid looking that good.

Heh I just remembered when I was a kid I use to make wooden swords with three blades, obviously long main blade in the middle with a shorter blade on each side out of the crossguard but they were vertical not horizontal. That then evolved into a similar idea for a lightsaber with the top being wider to accommodate three emitters, plus the smaller blades could be fired. >_>

If I wasn't shit with Photoshop... Or well if I still had Photoshop I'd do my own version.

EDIT: I guess the easiest reference would be a Sai but not rounded.

Well I hope it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, I would think since JJ isn't directing the next he would want to have some kind of wrap up.

Oh my god that's amazing

How do you think they made the practical effect of a ball rolling

If that guy at the beginning turns out to be lando calrissions son, shoot me!

JJ wouldn't do that to us right?
Everyone is everyone's kid in Star Wars. Boyega is Lando's, Ridley is Han/Leia's, Andy Serkis is probably Jimmy Smits' or something. Every line of dialogue will be the various characters explaining their relation to each other. Greedo's son answers first.

After watching it countless times. I like it. The effects look convincing and with them they are doing things they could't do with models without considerable effort; vehicles impacting environments visibly. The droid was charming and cute. The bike is awesome. The lead's wardrobe is very cool. The stormtrooper armour is quite bulky and thick limbed compared to the OT, which isn't a negative. An unmasked Trooper as one of the leads is mint.

The Assassin Creed-like costumed villain has a swagger or limb I enjoy. I like the lightsaber and the flicker of it. I wonder how it will differ from other lightsabers in these new films. As it looks more in line with the flickering of the OT sabers but obviously more severe. No problem with the cross-guard providing he isn't twirling like a crazy person. Wielding it like a claymore with slow, powerful swings and that guard is very useful. I like the size of the hilt and what I can see of the design. I hope in general the lightsaber hilts will be visually unique to the users, until the Prequels, where anyone with a laithe could fart out a saber. Concept art seems to confirm this. (Wampa-claw saber).

The Falcon dogfighting to the theme. In broad daylight. The model was so crisp it shocked me for a second. All the tiny pipes and details. Was badass though.

Dispite this very little was shown. I liked what I've seen and I'm hyped but one thing niggled me. It is very minor and some might consider it me looking too much into small details however they could speak volumes as to the rest of the film. The blasters the troopers had were too new looking. Unless they are a new batch of recruits in which case fine. Looked very prequel prop shop to me. Though I did like the white accents on the blasters, seems to be logical if they are wearing white.

Hurrah....

That's Lando's son and the girl is Han and Leia's daughter and they're going to fall in love and get married at the end of Episode IX.

Haha. Nah. That'd be too obvious.

Maybe I should spoiler that just in case it's true... Hmmm...
