If it's something from Capcom, I really hope it's DMC5. SFV is going to be made for sure, DMC5 is doubtful. Maybe Sony could do something like Nintendo did with Bayonetta 2.

Kingdom Hearts is a Mess. I had to buy like every other console for it. It's kinda weird that KH 1.5 and 2.5 aren't on Xbox considering KH3 is going to be.

Yea, that series pisses me off. So many games that are on specific platforms. You have to buy everything, maybe even an Ouya in the future. -_-

Don't worry. There are still people like me who are not blinded by hype.
I can't understand why people would've meltdowns over a game we know is coming. Until it's not officially canceled it's not canceled, easy as that. Several Sony higher ups have confirmed that the game is still in development and I don't remember Sony ever quietly cancelling a game. Heck even Verendus said it is coming.

Internet Meltdowns are as follows in order of meltdownedness:

1. FF7 Current gen remake
2. TLG
3. Sony Crash Bandicoot
4. Megaman Legends 3

And thats about it...I dont think Shenmue 3 would make the internet at large go crazy. Kind of a niche series

Why would this be a big deal?

If it is something from Capapcom, it will 99.99% be Resident Evil 7. They are on track to release that game in late 2015, 3 years after RE6.

Eh.. same goes for TLG probably.

And I would place Agent or anything new from Rockstar being exclusive at the top though, since Rockstar probably has a greater mass appeal than FF7.

Shenmue is niche but Megaman would cause meltdowns? Are you high?

You forgot Half-life 3. And with the recent talk about Gearbox and seeing the PS2 Half-life version in their portfolio, could it be?

Just kidding. Although it would not surprise if Gearbox would bring Homeworld to the PS4.

I'm pretty sure Megaman has sold way more than Shenmue and has way more fans. I didn't even know what a Shenmue was till Gaf.

megaman legends 2 sold about 10% as many copies as shenmue despite being on platforms with a combined 20x larger userbase

Mega Man Legends would not get more buzz than Shenmue, despite how much fun the series is. Mega Man Anything wouldn't get more buzz than Shenmue really...

Clearly, but the fact that he's a fan doesn't mean the game would generate a lot of buzz. I could be wrong, but I think most people would be like "Wow, ANOTHER Megaman game. Welp.."

The last proper Mega Man game came out in 2010. "ANOTHER Megaman game?" No.

Wow, what an accomplishment. How many MM games have there been?

There hasn't been a proper Shenmue game in over 10 years and the series itself was never particularly big. There's definitely more Mega Man fans in the world. Take these two for example:

That's exactly the point. Megaman would be expected but a Shenmue sequel is something that would surprise most people. For the record, I'm not a Shenmue fan. Never played it though, so I can't say whether my lack of interest is justified.

The reaction to a Shenmue 3 announcement would be "What's a Shenmue?" It's a series that has had 2 proper games that didn't exactly break sales records over 10 years ago on two fairly unsuccessful platforms.

And why did they stop making them?

Corporate greed focusing solely on the huge money makers instead of the smaller ones? Internal vendetta against Inafune, the former spokesperson for the brand?

Are you? You think Shenmue is a bigger brand than Mega Man? What has happened in the last ten years to support that thinking?

Read the post above. Didn't say that Shenmue was bigger, just that an announcement that Capcom was going to shit out another sequel to a series that has had a ton of sequels wouldn't be nearly as shocking as Sega announcing that they were going to revive a series long thought dead.

It'd be a fan service deal that would have message boards going crazy. GAF would go at least a little nuts. MM would sell more, but the announcement wouldn't be as shocking, in my opinion.
I stopped keeping tabs on the series long ago, but it seemed like Capcom milked it until it stopped selling well enough to justify further development. That makes me think yet another sequel wouldn't be all that shocking, even if it's much wanted by a dedicated fan base.

Edit: About to jump in the shower and leave the house for a few hours. Didn't want you guys to think I was pulling a hit and run, so thought I'd let you know.

What are you gauys talking about? I see Onimusha, Street Fighter... is it about a Capcom exclusive? And why do people think it is exclusive?
Its just McSpeculation, large sized, with a side of hope. I don't know why people think they would be exclusive though other than some hints at meltdowns. A crazy 3rd party exclusive would cause a meltdown and Capcom is going to be there. Plus the whole old IP returning speculation.

Megaman is lower on the totem pole of defunct icons than Sonic and people didnt exactly lose their minds over Wii U getting multiple exclusive sonic games, they arent going to give one tiny fuck about an exclusive megaman

Yeah, I agree.

Shenmue on the other hand would cause the hardcore gaming community to lose their shit.

I don't think there's much of a point in measuring a "megatonne" in its unlikeliness when neither properties are huge nor likely to happen.

I agree to the reaction of a megaman game being welp another one has come out. But for Shenmue i was only vaguely aware of its existence after seeing it in a magazine many years ago so i agree that i think most folks would say "whats a Shenmue". Granted Shenmue is the type of game thats popular in this day and age so a remake could do well. So megaman niche(in that it won't sell that many) worldwide appeal and Shenmue hardcore mainstream appeal.

I don't understand why Suzuki never made a sequel on DS or something. There was a three year period when EVERYTHING was happening on DS and DS was cheap. Put out a visual novel and let us make out to photos of Nozomi

Agent (or any Rockstar exclusive) would cause more meltdowns than any of those games. Also lol at Megaman being compared with 1-3.

MML and Shenmue would both be met with almost complete indifference in the market. Despite TLG seemingly being the real spiritual successor to Ico, my favorite game, I willfully admit that TLG would be similarly received in terms of sales.

Agent would be a really big deal. Since the Housers were crowned, they've only headed two new IPs, Bully and Manhunt. A Grange Hill GTA and a janky stealth game. Agent was supposed to be their first real huge scope original IP, and it was already in-development in the PS2 era.

The time and financial investment, along with the talent and promise, makes for a game of huge importance, especially when compared to the three games mentioned above, or Crash.

FFVIIR would make a bigger splash as an announcement, but I'd be every surprised if it was a bigger deal in sales.

Are there any other rumors besides the big third party exclusive that I'm missing? Just trying to catch up, that's all. :p

Which DS are you talking about Kev?

Sonic may have a more... er, recognized fanbase, but the Sonic series is a complete embarrassment while MegaMan is well respected overall, despite a couple misses from the X series.

Btw, I think TLG sells a guaranteed 2 million. 4 million cap.
