Goofy, but brilliant.

No reason why the celebrations can't have happened. They just didn't show when the Imperials crushed the uprisings afterwards.

That's the fix that they went to with the EU, Allston's Iron Fist specifically described it. Easier to just ignore it and stick with the original movies though.

Nice.
Which was your favorite?

I thought they were all really great in their own ways. A New Hope had that origin story energy, there was a great story progression in Empire and great finale in Jedi. I really liked the last part of Jedi, I was surprised that it got mixed reviews compared to the first two. I liked it just as much as those films.

I don't know if I could choose a favourite. They're all great, and having only watched it once I'd probably have to give them a few rewatches before I could choose.

If people are whining this much about a small thing like the lightsaber hilt, after all we have seen is a teaser, imagine how much whining there will be over bigger changes once the movie is out.

I can't wait.

The fact that there's so much fervour over the hilt is hilarious, the teaser was great and really captured the tone and look of the OT IMO. That's a mini miracle after the Prequels (which I saw bits and pieces of and couldn't stand).

I wonder what sort of accents the two leads will be doing.

Carrie Fisher's Queen's English attempts in a New Hope were so weird.

people open banana's from different sides so inevitably there are people that complain about the label being upside down

best to let people wallow in their own misery and enjoy one more thing that they can't

If we get even a minute of Harrison Ford being Han Solo I'll be so fucking happy. That's all I need for this. I can't really fathom that going wrong.

Lucky for us, I imagine old Han Solo to be exactly like old Harrison Ford, so he won't even need to act, just be himself.

I hope Boyega keeps his natural voice; he's got a great, thick British accent.

I would love that but I have a feeling they'll make him change it a bit for the movie.

Some of my friends who watched Attack the Block said they had trouble understanding him. I thought some of the other characters were a bit hard to discern but Boyega himself was fine for me.

Best to just roll with it

Aren't thick British accents natural for imperials? He may have good case for keeping it.

So I got done watching the original trilogy for the first time a few minutes ago. Very solid movies and I can see why people love the series as much as they do. Looking forward to The Force Awakens.

That's cool. Glad to see it can still be appreciated.

My sister watched them all recently. Not really for the first time, but it was the first time since childhood and the first time she actually paid attention.

She said that Return of the Jedi was her favorite.

Yeah I had the realization I geeked out over the teaser and we didn't even see familiar faces yet. That'll be something else.

I said before, I want to keep that for the big screen.
I'll be squirming in my seat!

I'm avoiding that spoiler thread from now on and any trailers that have the OG cast.

Isn't like having the hilt would have helped them much in the situations they both (Luke and Anakin) got their hands maimed.

it looks like he should have taken his whole torso.

it looks like he should have taken his whole torso.

That's just the awfulness of the prequels. I hope the maimmings and odd lightsaber grazing wounds are fixed in this new trilogy. It always seemed stupid to me the way Dooku kind of touched Obiwan's shoulder and thigh with his lightsaber.

The Dooku gif just looks that way due to the perspective... never really got the impression that it would have stricken the torso. Also Dooku isn't a cold-blooded killer. He had plenty of chances to off his combatants but spared them. I got the impression that he was being controlled by Palpatine but didn't see eye to eye with him about everything. Dooku wasn't entirely an evil bastard, just doing what he's told.

Which probably explains why he didn't kill Anakin. Of course he likely didn't know of Palpatine's complete intentions but may have thought Palpatine had plans for Anakin. I'm sure he was told to not kill Analin behind the scenes.

He knew that Sidious wants to discard him as Sith apprentice in favor of Skywalker?

I was jesting that there is no reason Anakin shouldn't have died there other than plot and poor fighting choreography.

Man, it was clear from Attack the Block alone that Boyega was a good actor, but it's so cool that he's 1) been thrust on a huge stage so quickly and 2) has handled it so capably. Dude is gonna be gigantic during and after Star Wars.

Hopefully he's got a good head on his shoulders and doesn't burn out from the tidal wave he's about to be riding.
