Gematsu: Sony to hold Playstation Experience event in December

There are a lot of strategies Microsoft can use to pull momentum from Sony in the console war, but seeing the FF7 logo with an Xbox logo underneath it would really bring to a head the consequences caused in the PS3 era. Even if it was multiplatform, it would be a huge momentum let down for Sony.
It's normality right now. No letdown. Nothing is won by keeping away third party games from other platforms.

Yeah I'm just really excited to see and hear more about Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, No Man's Sky and Until Dawn.

Hopefully either of The Order 1886 or Bloodborne can convince me too.

Unfortunately that isn't true at all. Every winning console has been defined by its exclusives. If GTA 3 was an Xbox exclusive for 3 years instead of a Sony exclusive, that would have had a huge impact and might have changed how that gen went.

Not really. Lets assume Mario became a multiplat for the next-gen systems. The subsequent Mario games would probably dominate and be among the Top Dogs with COD and GTA V. The franchise being exclusive to Nintendo doesn't really do much for the Wii U now does it - other than keep the console afloat? Availability to millions of consumers (across all platforms) does a lot in terms of mind-share about a title. When someone takes a large chunck of that fanbase away by making a third-party multiplat exclusive, the impact is definitely not the same. Mind you there are lots of factors to take into account like marketing etc......but still, the idea should apply to most cases. Will a third-party money-hat move consoles? Yeah....a lot depending on the notoriety of the title...but it's not a make or break deal.

I mean: nothing is won for gamers.
Of course securing exclusivity of megafranchises has an impact of market development.
But another question: Is Final Fantasy VII remake really such a huge deal for the masses? Or only for a minority of dedicated fans?

I'm a little afraid about Uncharted 4....

Don't forget that Amy Hennig is gone...

And Balestra has said that she really is the spirit of the series. Plus, she has been fired...

I've been in Philly visiting family this weekend so haven't been able to follow the thread so much. What's the latest on suspected showings and teasings?

If all games became multiplat no one would ever buy more than one machine. Game systems would be like Blue Ray players. You would just buy the cheapest one that has the features you want. Great for the consumer, but not so great for Microsoft and Nintendo and Sony.

If just Nintendo made their games multiplatform that would be the end of them. The only reason to ever buy more than one system is for the games you can't already play, the exclusives.

Let's say Microsoft gets GTA6 to be XB1 exclusive. You don't think that would dramatically swing sales for them? Or even the next Call of Duty? Come on, of course it would.

I am not saying it won't move consoles - absolutely it would - we just have to look at the impact of Destiny for PS4 console sales (and that was just a co-marketing deal). What I am saying is that such "exclusive" does not necessarily dictate winners or losers when it comes to console sales in a generation (5-7 year cycle). Too many games and many other factors play a role.

This thread is flying so close to the sun spoiler wise. Does something have to leak before I learn to stay away? No. No it will not. Can't take the insider information trolling either =o. It's gonna be big and that's enough for me.

Don't be afraid. Druckmann is a better writer.

I'm glad Druckman and Straley are working together again as leads. The Last of Us and Uncharted 2 turned out to be incredible.

I'd agree with you on any other franchise, but FF7 is Sony's baby. It isn't so much as "think of the millions in sales" as it is a bit of a black eye if they lost it being only for themselves. I don't mean it as it just being a AAA game they would lose to having themselves. That has happened and will continue to happen for both Sony and Microsoft. FF7 represents a lot more than just an exclusive title. Microsoft could get a multiplatform release of XV, XVI, XVII, etc., etc. That's fine and just the way things are in the industry today. 7, though, represents Playstation.

Considering how much Kev feasts on the tears of TLG fans, I have no idea why you guys are buying anything he says. This shouldn't be your first rodeo!

I told my brother about the last guardian and then showed him the trailer. Told him this is what the shadow of collossus team was working on. I had tears come out my eyes and totally forgot how beautiful that trailer was...and the fact that it was made 5 years ago. Nevet have i seen such a beautiful trailer with great accompanying music...it truly kills me every year we get nothing about it. I was happy as well that my little brother was interested in it as well. Damn it sony....the emotions everytime that trailer viewed
