Star Wars The Force Awakens Trailer

Of course everyone looks like they're in a hurry in the teaser. It's Abrams. His characters are always running to or from something. There's a long take in Mission Impossible 3 of Cruise just running and both Star Trek movies are practically marathons.

I'm not complaining as it doesn't bother me but its true. Everyone is always in a hurry in his movies. The light saber fights in this will be sabers clashing during on foot chases. And it will be awesome.

Unless there's an official age from the time of ROTJ, he could have been 20 or 30 at the time.

Dd you forget about Attack of the Clones? He was a young teen in that. And that was about 30 years before Return of the Jedi. And this is around 30 years after that.

The rumored Boba Fett movie is also rumored to take place shortly prior to A New Hope. It wouldn't change what happened in Jedi in that case.

I hope theres some laid back moments in this movie as well. I like the upbeat style he has but I just hope theres some breathers in this.

I'd say this is a safe bet.
Whether people will like those breathers... i mean, i reckon that football droid scene is going to be one. Yet at the same time, it looks like a silly scene, not something like Luke's training scene in EP4.

Totally filmed in a backyard you guys.

Ah, yeah. His appearance in that movie slipped my mind. Well, an elderly Boba Fett would still be welcome. Maybe he could still fight, since he relies on heavy armor and weaponry. Not to mention a jet pack.

Didn't know there was a rumor about the time it takes place in. That would be cool. I'd like for it to be a gritty bounty hunter focused story about Boba's day-to-day dealings with his clients and other bounty hunters.

Eh, I disagree. If you divorce the performances from the directing, Loyd and Christensen were pretty terrible and Portman was forgettable. Everyone else did a pretty good job, imo, at least with what they were given.

Loyd and Christensen should never have been cast though. They were both really wrong for the role.

The closest to good was MCGregor, because he didn't give two shits and McDiarmid, cause he did nothing else but reading his ridiculous lines with gravitas.
Star Wars was never the place for memorable acting.

He kept the same sound guy through all the movies and they worked together to get everything right. The sound design in THX 1138 is outstanding.
One of the best creative decisions Lucas has ever made with regard to Star Wars IMO. Even though the story seriously tanked with the prequel trilogy, the art and sound design remained top notch.

"We should turn back..."
I hate to ask... but is that some kind of weird image manipulation that someone did, or is that a joke. I don't get the reference. :(

LOL what a scrub
A scrote, actually. A chode even. He takes 5 minutes to trash a 1:30 teaser. Interesting.

"It dunt even look like a movie"

whut?

And how many times does he turn his head to the side so you can see his Halo neck tattoo?

LOL what a scrub

He's kind of right though. The teaser was weird. The shot of the sith marching through the woods and whipping out that Cross sword looked like something from a fanmade Star Wars film and some of the other stuff was very questionable (Why are the ships flying so low to the ground? Whats with those quick shaky cam cuts of the Stormtroopers, etc.)

You sure about that? Palpatine was a roller coaster in episode 3 lol.

Notice the targeting computer on the top right.

Notice also how much bigger the new cockpit looks, unless my eyes are wrong, which is possible. Just looks way too roomy.

Also, that foot stomp as the sabre lights is just goofy to me.

Seriously, for a first shot it's kinda brilliant. It's different and sorta funny and kinetic, but with classic nods. Bogey's mannerisms in that brief few seconds remind me of Indiana Jones or Han Solo, someone who's sorta in over their head and frazzled - a welcome shift from the stodgy, uptight prequel characters we spent so much time with.

Honestly I saw that first scene and immediately felt a sense of relief/confidence in this whole Ep7-9 thing.

However, this post that actually gives me some hope. Very good observation.

Ian McDiarmid is the greatest actor in the whole series. He pushed it a little far in the Windu and Yoda scenes in ROTS, but I still love his portrayal of Palpatine. Such a goddamn cool villain.

This is the best trailer since Godzilla's teaser.
Just flawless. I can't get enough of it and the idea that
These are Jedi Hunters and Luke has been fighting them off for over 30 years is just the most bad ass sounding concept ever

no he isn't right at all

the teaser isnt out to allow people to know why things are happening, its to set the tone for what's to come

and i haven't seen anything scifi with this much personality since district 9, i love everyone involved and boyega is going to fucking kill it in this movie

The only reason it's 'weird' is because its literally just a bunch of random shots from the movie. No context. But that's what teasers are supposed to be.

He really doesn't have a good point. The directing and tone is completely different than anything in the prequel trilogy. The sith shot looks fan made? lol okay. I got a Harry Potter vibe personally and that's only because of the look of the dark forest...and that's not inherently a bad thing either. As for the ships flying low...maybe they are avoiding radar or have some other strategic reason? Plus it's a bad ass shot!

i love how the scene transitioned from the dark side to the light that shit was so uplifting :D

If they wanted to really show diversity they would have picked a mixed race or middle eastern guy as the lead. It's frankly insulting that Hollywood still thinks throwing in an african american lead suddenly makes the movie "diverse". There is more to this world than white and black people.

Hey...maybe just maybe John Boyega was the best actor for the the role and wasn't picked for his race!? Many white actors went up for the same role.

Also you do realize the "big 3" leads are Boyega, Ridley, and Isaac right? You do realize Isaac is hispanic right? Jeez....

No.

1- Sith walking through the woods looks like a scene of us following a "lead" character, likely a good guy/former good guy, looking for something, and then sensing something is there.
2- Ships flying low to avoid radar/whatever might be further up ahead.
3- Stormtroops is likely us following another lead who is a stormtrooper in this scene (Boyega), they are landing for some mission and we are in there experiencing what they experience like in any war movie.

Nothing weird in there.

Does it feel good, knowing that you and the people who agree with you are the only non-racists in the world? I bet it feels great.
Everybody knows that only Indonesian people can be the true measure of diversity.
Merch.

Are you serious with this comment? Casting a black actor (he's not African American) is insulting?

If you don't cast a middle eastern actor apparently you aren't being diverse. Ignoring the fact that of the 3 hero leads ZERO are white males. Crazy....

I hated the trailer outside of the action shots. I'm actually shocked there were lead characters in that piece. I actually had to read that fact to know. I assumed all I had seen was extras.

Personally I am sick of Star Wars' gender normativity and token racial diversity. If Luke isn't retconned into a genderqueer albino Native American/Cambodian mix in TFA, I am fucking done with this franchise.

I thought about the trailer more, and I think I figured out what threw me off. The lack of any real space or alien shot. That might have given it the full "Star Wars" feel I was thinking about. I can't wait to see that stuff in the first full trailer.

Sorry I posted an image of a straight white man. I'll try to be better in the future.

Anyone already talk about this?

Pretty sure we've known that they're going to use old concept art for thing for a while now. This is cool but does not surprise me.
The new X-Wing's engines are based on the old concept art by the way.

(I kind of hope we get a Star Destroyer akin to an old concept, the same concept that spawned Victory-class Star Destroyer, which is smaller, "winged" design. Always loved how it looked.)
