Star Wars The Force Awakens Trailer

The Clone Wars ended, and most just mixed into the Stormtroopers who were also conscripts and regular folks. As for the rest, we don't know. They officially said though that the expanded universe is no longer considered canon, so anything is fair game now. It seems like the end of Palpatine wasn't necessarily the end of the Empire and the Rebel Alliance still exists, and Imperial Stormtroopers still exist in large patrol numbers.

I'm just surprised they couldn't alter the Stormtrooper costume. It looks budget 1977 style, which I get is for nostalgia, but that's the point of making a movie supposedly set 3 decades more than the last. Let's see modern uniforms, designs etc. It was bad enough how they had to shoehorn in 1970's hairstyles and uniforms into the prequels for continuity.

Maybe like with the rebels in the OT, the Empire is now stretched thin and has to do with what they have, and can't really develop new tech.

The ST armor is sufficiently updated for a modern look, the changes are only subtle but the armor is sleeker

Abandoning the design would be stripping away star wars' identity

I think its very tasteful what they've done

Hilarious - love the pilot dodging a blaster bolt like the whole Greedo snafu. What's the deal with the rocks and soccer ball droid though?
When R2 was hiding from the sand people, he inserted a bunch of rocks with R2 peeking out of them, obviously in a place he couldnt have possibly gotten into. Then next camera cut, theyre gone.

Am I the only one seing a DarkSouls homage in that "Sith in The Dark Snowy Woods With An Ancient Broadword/Flamberge of Sort?"
I read many pages of this thread but did not found the reference

haven't played Dark Souls but that whole bit is very video gamey. the whole body movement, the camera movement, the camera angle, everything.

I don't understand what you're referencing?

Dark Souls has no snowy wooded area, the only snowy area in Dark Souls is the painted world. DS also has no Sith looking guys, nor any swords that look like lightsabers.

The scene where the Sand People are about to take Luke at the start of A New Hope and R2D2 is hiding behind some rocks. In the special edition they added more rock to hide him more.

Yup that is lucas all right. I couldn't stop laughing at all the tie fighters on screen or even the extended lightsabers.

^

lol this edit makes no fucking sense

The whole special editions made no sense it removed everything what made the original great but Lucas didn't stop there he also did it again on blu ray. I want a re release of the originals i will buy them another thing i avoided buying the whole box of the blu ray because like i said Lucas fucked it up those where not the movies i grew up with.

Man, CGI looks so bad in the edits. Amazing how good some of the original effects look compared to the CGI.

Life in general is pretty video gamey at this point. Hollywood has been especially video gamey for over a decade. Not sure how you can really say "that's right out of a video game!" unless you're speaking from before the turn of the millennium. Movies have been full of hyper-kinetic CG swagger for years upon years at this point.

I clearly remember the first trailer of DS2 being woody snowy darky
Plus: first gameplay I saw of DS2 had a character dressed like a friar of sorts
Plus2: are you sure there's no Claymore or Flamberge in DaS because that "lightsaber" hardly tries to look like an ancient medieval broadsword
