Dunno if it's common knowledge yet, but I discovered something very interesting while playing Ganondorf in 1 on 1 For Glory. His mid-air side-special, while a Suicide KO normally, functions as a winning move if both you and your opponent only have one stock, likely as a result of your opponent being below you when you strike bottom.

I've tried to avoid using the move for anything but a reset to 0% Health for final stock, but it's something people playing against a Dorf should note. Unless this was noted, like, 10,000 posts back... For very obvious reasons, I haven't read the entire thread.
 
Who's good at fighting Master Fortress? I just need to beat it one more time for the challenge. Already done it with Sonic (somehow) and Wario (even bigger surprise since I suck with Wario) so just need a third.

Seeing as how you need to get through the other Master forms, someone you're good with. Otherwise Kirby is good.

Yup, this was well known. Bowser's side special used to be like that, but then they patched it so Bowser dies first when using it.

I think one of Kirby's throw also works as a suicide kill.

I have to say, as a Ganondorf main, it's quite satisfying to win a match by suiciding myself.
 
God, I'm so crap at Smash I fear the day I play with some of you online, it's gonna be embarrassing.

Tried today that Mario Party-esque mode, meh... not a fan.
 
Just realized I haven't registered my Smash Wii U on Club nintendo lol.

If only my 3DS copy had a CN Pin I could have availed the CD and the Mewtwo DLC for free...sigh...

So, I'm a proud new owner of a wii u following Black Friday. Haven't played a smash bros since the gcn version, and couldn't be more excited.

Big question about online for the experts in this thread: I want to play with an old Melee running buddy who also bought a system on Black Friday, too. We always played 4 player free for all, and I am curious if we can be joined together and still play with random opponents in the "with anybody" matchmaking. Is this a possibility? We are coming over from PS4 where you can party up and allow matchmaking to place the two of you into the same lobby/game.

From what I've read, if I select "with friends", then I am limited to playing with people on my friends list.

I've heard there will be a patch where you can join lobbies. So in theory you and your friend could join the NeoGAF lobby and fight two of us. But I don't have a link to a reputable source.

I wish there were playlists like in Halo, e.g. Team Skirmish, etc. There could be "Team Classic" with 2v2, classic items only, classic maps, 3-stock. "Big Team" with 4v4, "Multi-Team" with 2v2v2, etc.

Also would like a "Mirror Match" where it only pairs you with someone who picked the same character.

I try to avoid using it outside of people trolling me on edges, because I've had a few people quit out of 1 on 1 because of it.

That said... Holy crap is Dorf in full BEAST MODE with Smash 4... People will land entire combos on me, and then two hits later they're more damaged than I am because I landed my regular twice. They really extended the difference between Falcon and Dorf for this release, to the point where they're utterly different characters now.

There's nothing more satisfying than charging up his Special while someone whales on you, tanking the hits and smashing them into the stratosphere without a care. Or just landing a stomp.

By god is he slow, but he makes every shot count, full stop. If you get hit by Dorf, you regret getting hit by Dorf. It's glorious.

I had such horrible luck the first time I got past 11 turns in this mode and picked one match more than I needed to. The worst part? Like 3/4ths of my haul were custom moves and almost every one of those were lost.

I usually avoid it because of how risky it is. Unless I'm outside the stage, facing the edge when using it, and in a distance covered by the side special, I avoid using it because if I fail, I end up dead lol.

I ended up using a hammer on the hats. After getting screwed in the 3DS version and watching the hats dry up already in the wii u I decided it was probably the only way I was getting that challenge. I'd have much rather used on the all-star on hard challenge since I hate playing as shiek but oh well.

Not if you use the GCN controller, though sometimes if I try to go from a roll into a side smash, it does another roll instead. Something about the timing of button release is a bit different, I guess.
