Jericho, Benoit and Angle were similarly held back by politics and Austin/Undertaker's refusal to put anyone new over. I mean who'd Austin ever put over cleanly? He gave The Rock a win years after his prime had ended as a 'thanks for letting me kick your ass and win every other match conclusively' consolation prize.

If the internet was this big in 1999, people would be asking why Austin was making Foley look like a jobber every time they fought.

I don't think Benoit is a great example, but people like Angle got over because they were developed in the midcard. There's really no midcard today worth talking about. Stars like Edge and Angle blew up and got to main event status wrestling each other. They didn't need rubs from Austin.

Who can legit give someone like Ziggler a boost today? Sheamus?

Punk isn't after money though, or so he claims in interviews.
.

All he did was talk about money!

Hey, i don't care about money. Ok?
WHY I NOT GET THE SAME MONEY AS ROCK? WHY I NOT GET THE SAME MONEY AS BROCK? WHY I NOT ALLOWED SPONSORS ON MY SHORTS? WHY I NOT GET PAID MORE FOR THE BEST MATCH AT WRESTLEMANIA?

oh and for bonus points
Hey, this isn't a shoot interview. ok?

Man, how out of touch you sound. A work? Really?

Dolph Ziggler doesn't make the kind of money for the WWE that CM Punk did.

Simple as that.

So? The wwe is pt barnums circus. They are selling you a show and you don't even know it. You were probably one of those dudes throwing trash at the ring at bash at the beach. Unable to believe that hogan swerved you. Lol.

Seth Rollins program? To me I feel like they have mid card guys that they can put in main events if Cena or Brock can't carry a main event and then they have everyone else who just exist.

He wanted money that was owed to him that is fair enough. But doing a tell-all like this instead of behind someone's pay-wall and getting a cut, seems like he said what he wanted to say and he is moving on.

Here are the only clear shots of Punk's back I was able to get from WWE's Royal Rumble gallery:

I believe in the podcast he mentioned that the infection was under the top of the trunks - where it rubbed it most.

Now that you mention it, he did say that he dropped his shorts in Dr. Patrick Bateman's office to reveal the lump, which led Colt to make a tasteless homophobic joke. So it's possible that it's right above his a** crack or something.

If he's not about the money, explain:

"Fuck you, pay me."
"I need to make as much as John Cena, as Undertaker, as Brock Lesnar."
"I'm in this for the money at this point."

I'm telling you...

That implies that the writers and vince planned for all of this to culminate, even the Thor writing gig, post pipe bomb.

If this is a work, WWE's writing team deserve all the Emmys.

No kidding, but I doubt the Writers are that amazing to pull something like that off.

So let me get this straight... I'm the one that is claiming that calling out the WWE's medical team in a way that can get them into some serious legal trouble, and can't possibly turn out well for them in any way, is probably not a preplanned storyline, and I am supposed to be the mark here?

Yeah, sure buddy.

You must have been dialing 911, when pillman pulled out that gun, huh?

If you look at this shot of CM Punk's back:

You can see a white rounded highlight reflected on his tights. This may possibly be the lump in question.

The biggest mistake WWE made in recent memory regarding talent progression was making MITB its own PPV.

Back when it was a wrestlemania match it was basically everyone who WWE didnt care enough about to have in a storyline. It forced them to think outside of the box and push a up and comer into the main event.

Since its become a PPV the match has been dominated by older veterans and ex world champs. Cena and Orton winning the fucking thing for god sake. I think Kane won one as well?

They eliminated the one good way they had to take someone a push them into the title scene no questions asked.

Now the only way to get a title shot is if you "made it" before that cut off point or you are Roman Regins.

Remember when Cena won MITB then cashed it in on Raw 1000 and lost after Big Show interfered? What a waste. Just one big excuse to protect Cena from losing clean to Punk.

Money is a way to see how he is valued by the company. It's the performance barometer.

It's about money in that sense, yes. Otherwise, besides having a nice home and probably having season tickets to the Blackhawks. you can't say Punk likes to throw around money, he ain't Floyd mayweather.

I remember how excited I was when Sandow won MITB last year. Hell yeah Sandow is gonna get a world title run! When he cashed in and lost to Cena......oh man. The rage I was feeling. I couldn't believe what I'd just seen. And look at Sandow now. MITB used to signify a push. Now it can even signify a burial.

-^ He won because he was the weakest link, he needed to be protected the most, hence the briefcase and the heel turn. It's easy to be heel, see Edge, whose career was going down the drain in 2004.

I will say this was a super smart move on WWE's part though.

Ambrose was always the talent in the Shield. Dude could be put in the main event and no one would bat a eye.
Roman was clearly the company guy. Everyone knew he would get that Lex Luger Push after.

But Rolins? He was the dude with no personality who did flips. Everyone expected Ambrose to be the one who turned but instead they did it with Rolins and have people a reason to care about him. Gave him MITB because he was the guy who seemed the least ready for it.

To be fair, it wasn't like the MitB briefcase was doing that good a job of elevating people before the PPV. I mean, it worked spectacularly for Edge, but RVD didn't really need it, Mr. Kennedy got injured in the middle of his run with the case and they decided to waste it to move Edge over to Smackdown, Punk had the case twice and still wasn't really elevated until Summer of Punk 2, and Swagger's run with the WHC after his MitB win was just terrible.

He dealt with injuries in '03 and '04. He turned heel shortly after returning from injury and his career basically restarted.

It's better for heels to win those because of the cash-in. You'll find far more duds/useless winners than actual success for the match. Edge's career has been by far the best one for being able to win it. KotR had better success.
