Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

just bought astebreed for $4.49. i've been wanting to play it ever since it was released but $15 seemed too steep. it might go on sale for cheaper but at 70% off i figured i might as well get it now just in case

Yes they are both Steam.

I am a little confused.

I tried searching for Final Fantasy games on Steam, and the only ones I see are:
FFVII
FFVIII
FFXIII
FFXIII-2

So what's the deal here? Are the games (FFIV, FFIII) not available in my region (Singapore) or is it just not sold on Steam?

Singapore is luckier than Japan, only XIII, XIII-2 and XIV are available here.

I really enjoyed it. $4.49 is a steal.

Okay, so does that mean that if I were to buy FFIII/FFIV from the SE site, that the codes won't work on Steam since its technically not available in my region?

You can ask someone like JaseC, he'd know. But I think you can use a VPN to activate the keys (do not try it until someone more knowledgeable can confirm or deny!)

Revengeance isn't available in Singapore as well but I managed to activate a code from Amazon on my account using a VPN. Of course, each game is its own beast. Maybe a glance at SteamDB will help.

I have a new strategy for Steam sales that I would like to share.

A couple of hours ago I put Legends of Grimrock II, Divinity: Original Sin and Age of Wonders III in my Steam shopping cart. It all seemed a bit expensive, so I decided not to buy any of them. With a cheap mindset like that you will obviously end up living a lonely and unfulfilled life, so I decided to try and break the psychological barrier that prevented me from buying these essential games.

The solution was deviously simple. I went back into Steam and decided to buy only Divinity: Original Sin. I waited for a couple of minutes, then I bought Age of Wonders III. Twenty minutes later, I bought Legends of Grimrock II. In the end I have all the three games that I wanted, but no clear memory of what I paid in total! The fiscally responsible part of you is completely sidestepped by splitting meaningful total costs down to snack sized subcharges.

Now you just need to go into Enhanced Steam and see how much you've spent altogether for the sobering reality :p

Stop the presses!

Seemingly as part of the Divinity: OS 48 hour deal, Dragon Commander is 75% off!

Check here to see why you should buy it.

How long it is? About 30 hours?

Heh. I managed to activate the code in Singapore before they locked it

How about Just Cause 2 -- I played a bit on PS3 -- but I see PC has a multiplayer mod... worth it?

Yeah, for sure. It's straight up mouse and keyboard, though, if that's a factor for you.

Hell ya. Game is quick to go through and it finds a way to be fun in an extremely oppressive atmosphere.

Ok, cool. Is $2.99 the lowest it's going to go?
Isn't the Winter sale in like 2 weeks?
I have a backlog, so it's not like I'll get to it today... I just don't want to miss the price if it's not going any lower... argggg, Valve, why must you taunt me so?

Check isthereanydeal.com and see if the price is the lowest its been for the game on different sites. I'm only getting games that are 75% off and the current price is the lowest recorded.

Its still SO hard to resist. Right now I'm debating on whether to grab Just Cause Collection and Far Cry Collection for 14$. :S

I don't have a crystal ball but I think it went for $3 during the last big sale. I also seem to recall that it's on sale an awful lot, plus it was in a recent Humble Bundle. $3 is a good price but it's not like you'll never see it again.

Sheesh. Capcom fucked up bad with their Ultra SFIV listing. I bet a good number of people actually think they own the Ultra upgrade.

I'm cracking, risen 3 or age of wonders 3? I probably enjoy both of the genres the same.

Age of Wonders 3! I can't believe it is so far down the steam sales charts right now. Amazing deal, particularly given it just came out end of March. This is a game ppl have been waiting a decade for.

Looks like I can forget about that one too. Gotta have a NA based billing info to purchase from the SE-NA site, and I obviously don't have that.

God dammit region lock.

I guess this is why piracy is still alive and well. =/

If any of you are military sim buffs and haven't played Arma 3, you're very much missing out. I highly recommend picking it up. While it does have a great amount of single-player content, playing it in MP, and specifically with TeamSpeak and TaskForceRadio is simply amazing. Easily worth $30 IMO, especially since the community is extremely active.

The way BIS does their DLC is well done and doesn't fragment the online community either. If you don't own the DLC then you cannot be a pilot (or gunner?) in the vehicle, but you can still be a passenger. Any of the new features, such as the new helicopter physics is free for everyone as well as part of their "platform updates".

You can't just give them a random US address and then buy it with a credit card or PayPal?

Just FYI Valve hasn't killed the mascots; they've appeared dead in past sales as well, but they always come back to life. The mascot-bones from this sale has been visible in some regions since day 1 but some of the ongoing daily images have still featured them. Don't worry.

Anyone have any opinions on the Saints Row IV DLC? Wondering if I should get the Game of the Century edition or just the base game.

For some odd reason I really like them, despite their simplicity.
I'm glad Valve is still using them!

Just to add to the others' comments, it should work.

Those two games are region locked in my country as well (Malaysia), and I managed to buy codes from Green Man Gaming via VPN. The codes worked.

BTW, if you do end up buying the games, there's a font mod on their Steam forums that improves the look by a whole lot. Download it!

Why haven't i being able to access the Rocksmith 2014 page all day? The game isn't region locked in my area. The webstore nor the steam client itself doesn't even work.

Not sure if it's been posted here, but Lords of the Fallen is 22.49 on Bundlestars.

Lords of the Fallen

Use the code SUPERNOVA25. Definitely beats what Steam had it for.

Not sure if someone has mentioned this already, but you can use the code BONUS28 instead and get it for $21.49. Only a meager savings over the other code, but hey, it all adds up!

I had finally decided to pull the trigger on Thief over at the SE store since it's now December and I managed to have some money left on my prepaid card, but it turns out the sale ended. I found it out by logging onto the site and seeing the price for the game I had in the cart since days change to 32,99€ from the 6,59€ it was, which to me reads like a sign that I'll get it when it's 5 or less. Also I can use that money on those Blood Rayne games I'll never play and that Advent Rising on Steam.

A single playthrough of the campaign is around 20 hours.

Very well done. You are a genius!
