Nah, best way to get customs is through Crazy Orders. Play as the character you want to get customs for, and get 15+ turns each round. Usually get 4-5 customs for that specific character and another 4-5 customs for others. I got all of Ness's stuff within 45 minutes for instance. Granted, gotta do this character by character, but since you also acquire other customs along the way, it all quickly gathers.
Oh, nice tip! I haven't tried Crazy Orders yet. Of course, I'll need tickets and lots of gold for it.

Love Ness in this game. Just love him. Won a local tourney with him. His f-air is such a good approach, and I love the short hop double n-air pressure. Not pleased much with the impracticality of using PK Flash still, but his other specials are more useful in this iteration all-around. PK Fire is great for spacing and edgeguarding in particular. Love that he was given Lucas's PK Thunder for the purpose of avoiding gimps.

Need to find a secondary and tertiary character now. Can't rely on Ness alone to continue the tournament wins. Anyone have a good idea of who Ness's best counters are, and which characters are best counters to those characters? I'm pretty comfortable playing everyone on the roster, except for Rosalina.

If I ever do use PK Flash, I use it as an edge guard option. I don't expect it to hit anybody but people trying to avoid it can make for some pretty predictable recoveries.

And yeah against a good Rosalina player it's painful. If you get off the stage it's gg.
I'm not sure who would be a good counter against Rosalina, I'm still trying to figure that out myself.

Here's another tip regarding Crazy Orders: After you've passed 10 turns, start going for the gold reward tickets. They grant 1K - 4K per victory at that point, and for reference, it costs 5K to enter in the first place. I usually come out of a run with a bunch of customs and around 5 - 8K gold. Don't even need passes. :)

Passes are easy enough to gather anyway. Usually can get 1-2 through a Classic run or a few from Master Orders.

So yesterday I hosted a tournament at my local anime store, and the game is so much more fun to watch than any other smash before it. Skill levels of the people that came are high, most are top players in melee and brawl, and the clash they had on Smash 4, compared to how they never clash in the previous games, gave a lot of variety and a sense of community that I was missing so much. Everyone leaved happy and I´m planning a second tournament 2 weeks from now.

We also are planning Amiibos tournaments. 8 player matches with amiibos, winner takes all. Its going to be fantastic

If people are curious, first place main was Sheik, second was Falco and Mario, third was Fox.

Nothing curious about Sheik placing first, but Falco and Fox? Really interesting. Would have loved to see how that Falco was played in particular. My general impressions of him were that he's close to trash.

Where is the Nintendo Land love in this game? No music, no stage....that game was great and I'm surprised to see it not make an appearance.

Falco relied a lot on short hops and gimping, it was a really close match, it actually beat the Sheik user in Winners Final, but the Sheik user bounced back and won the Grand Finals.

I wish I could have streamed the matches, I don´t have an HDMI port in my streaming device, I did save them on my console, so once I figure out how to share them I´ll post them, if its ok.

Where should I go to get better? I'm trying to main charizard and have been practicing against lv9 cpu in 1-on-1. I sometimes get a few wins. But most of the time my dodging screws me over because I am looking the wrong way so I start up my quick attacks to the air instead of to the enemy. Then he smashes me and I'm dead.

Also I can't seem to stop other people juggling me. Some matches end with me dead and them at 0 percent.

It's not in the game. It'll probably be on the Miiverse stage along with Tomodachi Life, the Mii Channel arrangement, and stuff formerly on Pictochat in Brawl.

My only question is if the Find Mii music will be on it, as it's currently not in the game, and doesn't really fit with Miiverse.
Or maybe there's still a Nintendo Land stage...?
Constant switch up of side-B and side smash. Make em think, is this Pikmin gonna hit me, or latch on to me? Keep them away with endless Pikmin pressure, including grabs when you have a Pikmin that'll run a little longer than the others.

When returning from the edge, throw all your Pikmin at the guy before using your up-B. You'll fly farther and faster, and give him something to worry about while you recover.

Up and down smashes are also solid, with good range.

Always have 3 Pikmin out. If one dies, pull another one as soon as you can safely do so. Don't forget to use your down-B to regroup the Pikmin if they're scattered around, and you need them for moves.
Sounds like some good strategies. Is he really as bad as people say he is?

It's funny because it's true.

Congrats on the successful event, keep it up!

As long as we're mentioning results, we had one of our first Wii U locals on Saturday. (Note, I wasn't at all involved with running it). Top 8 had 7 different character. Sonic won, ZSS placed 2nd and 7th. Dedede, Pac-man, Greninja, Mac, and Diddy were also there.

So would people like to see frequent balance patches or balancing spaced out much more infrequently?

There is a correct answer for this

Naw, only if you play him like he's someone he's not. Since almost all his attacks use Pikmin, he rarely makes his actual body vulnerable to punishment. Focus on hanging back and applying pressure with projectiles, and you'll do good work.

Does anybody know how to get the trophies for the Plasm Wraith and Hocotate Bomb? I'm worried they might be locked behind challenges, and they're the last two trophies I need before I have everything for the Pikmin series.

The first balance patch was okay because it was clearly meant to polish things up a bit for the Wii U version, but now it needs to slow down.

I feel like a lot of the single player challenge modes (100 man smash, etc) are a lot harder in the Wii U version than the 3DS version strangely enough.

The game actually feels harder in general, maybe I abuse the smash stick to much in the joy of finally having one, or just isn't used to the new controls, idk

Is 15+ turns normal? I can only get through about 3 or 4 before either losing or barely squeaking by.

Wasn't there Nintendo Land music in the 50-Fact Extravaganza?

Hmm, I'll check again tomorrow. Maybe it's an unlockable CD. Couldn't find anything on YouTube.

I guess the only other possibility is the Miiverse stage coming in an update will use Nintendo Land music.

All these ass pictures and yet Tharja's is the one made the ESRB go "Woah Woah wait a minute. This is too much" and made Nintendo take it out of the game so it would get that E10 rating.

It's unfortunate that Fire Emblem Awakening didn't do too much for me. I wanted to like it more than I did. Smash at least let's me enjoy the fucking great music in that game. The FE theme is so good.

I dislike the clone characters, and I already made a soft vow that I'll never play the most egregious of them (Lucina, Dark Pit, Dr. Mario).

You don't know true bullshit until you eat a Mii Brawler forward/up smash and then he calls the whole squad in to fuck you up while you're stuck in hitstun until the rapture occurs. :lol

Oh god. So many deaths to this just trying to get a single KO for Duck Hunt Dog.
