And I don't really think either of the designs looks "silly," per se. The original looks a bit cobbled together, and the proposed revision looks more fantasy/coherent, but neither of them strikes me as silly.

It looks like a big lightsaber with two tiny lightsabers sticking out of the sides.

But I'm sure we'll all see it so much we'll just get used to it. Remember when the title of episode II was announced? Attack of the Clones? I had never heard of anything more ridiculous. Now it's just normal.

It's cool that she's not 'Hollywood' levels of attractiveness. Carrie Fisher was good looking, and she became greatly lusted for with the gold bikini outfit, but it's cool that she was 'normal' looking. Natalie Portman is absurdly good looking.

People think a black lead is a bold move, and it is, but normal looking people is kind of even stranger.

I literally have no idea what you're trying to say. NOTHING matches up here other than basic things like they both have flying ships or they both have things that go forward at a fast pace.

Sure there's bound to be some stylistic things that are similar cause it's the same director, but I don't see what you are.
