I do like the comment about Kirby luring in, most people assume I'm rushing em down, but its actually a odd defense read I like to do. I give thanks to shamrock for that, Kirby to squishy and slow for offense against most folks.
Yeah...its a good style.....especially because by luring people in you can often put yourself in a neutral position....which means getting up tilted to hell like i did lol

So a super good Falcon completely destroyed me. Guy was like a flea hopping around everywhere. Couldn't predict anything he did. And then it got laggy and a lagged input caused me to Bowser Bomb to my death. Gotta love that.

*shrug*

Does anyone have a link to that tournament that took place last week? I never got a chance to watch it.

EDIT: It was the VGBootcamp one, I think.

sorry mickey, when the wife cooks i have to leave on time! i could have played all night, seriously great matches. your wario has the edge over my doc mario i reckon, but i held my own on the randoms! ultimate troll match for the last game haha.

also, i got an amiibo, not a bad training buddy offline, that thing is evil. beats me in stock battle 70% of the time :(

Are there known problems with the digital version of this game? Been noticing some loading stutters with the intro movie, menus and in game as well.

edit: been googling about this and it seems that it's not widespread but some other people do have the issue. there goes any hope for a patch to fix it. weird stuff, hope nothing is wrong with my wii u :/

Always did wonder this, but which NON-THIRD PARTY character do you all think is/was "overdue" to be playable in Smash? In a "It took until Melee/Brawl/4 for that character to be playable?" way.

I have to say that I think that Little Mac was overdue. He feels like a character that should have been in Melee at least.

So I'm playing For Glory and I'm pretty sure my FAir was what killed Falcon here but

peachympubi.gif

I'm not sure what the hell is happening during the landing. Did Falcon grab me while the FAir connected, causing a grab release upon hit? The landing lag was almost completely negated too.

I can't see any scenario where this can be put to practical use but it looked pretty crazy.

Kind of looks like Peach is doing the toad animation.

Please add NNID MThanded. I need some people equally as bad as me to play.

Got banned before release due to some incidents in the Halo MCC thread. I'm back now and I need to train.

Also i got that plugable ethernet adapter and that foolishness does not work. It actually seems to crash my router. Never had any problems prior to using it.

#FuckNess

That character gets so absurd so quickly and with even fewer characters that outright tell him stop, he's free to run wild with kit that has been buffed out of the ass. What's more, he's not Lucas. (RIP better looking/acting A button moves)

And his PK Fire traps so damn well. They made him crazy strong this time around

Oh man that looked sweet! Can anyone slow that down? Might get a awnser that way.

Just read about that error code wii u problem....should I update to the newest firmware? Kind of worried :-(

Gonna be real, I didn't like Lucas in Brawl. PK Freeze was and is so much worse than PK Fire, and I preferred the silly domesticity of Ness's grounded attacks over Lucas's flashier stuff. Rope snake was cool, though.

In any case, the little dude has suffered for long enough. He deserves one game where he's at the top.

also kumatora > lucas

The only part of Pit that was ruined in this game is his Up B. Much more limited and leaves him far more vulnerable than in Brawl.

Yeah, that's the only bad change I noticed. His Brawl Up B was way better since you practically had full control of it once activated but other than that he's pretty much the same.
Even I would dare to say he's stronger now since his Down B covers both sides instead of one like in Brawl and Upperdash Arm is way stronger than his Brawl move.

Not anything practical, Peach Fair just hit you at the same time you went for the grab. Attacks beat grabs in this game unlike the previous games.

If a grabbox and attack hitbox connect on the same frame, in Melee/Brawl the grab would win (in Brawl, attack would deal damage at least). In Smash 4, the attack wins and they get out of the grab (typically put into a grab release animation BUT their attack still hits you anyway). Funnily enough, this is how it also works in traditional fighting games as well (attacks beating the grab).

It's normal behavior.

I was the Peach so it was my attack, haha.

Thanks for the explanation, so it's just as I assumed.

Hard to believe we only just got an Animal Crossing rep. There was a ton of representation for the series in Brawl (more than several series with playable characters got) but not having a character was weird. Although I guess that's because Sakurai thought it was a bad fit back when Brawl was in development.

Any guides for getting started with high level play?

There's no specific singular guide but there's multiple venues on youtube you have to explore and watch. I have linked these before but I guess I'll do it again.

The Basic Fundamentals of Competitive Melee (should apply to Smash 4 barring any exclusive techniques to Melee like L-Canceling)

First Attack on the basics of Melee (also should apply to Smash 4 on some level)

Melee Advanced How to Play (this covers a WIDE RANGE of tech in Melee, from stuff that is still in Smash 4 to stuff that is not -- you should be able to identify what isn't in Smash 4 but if you need help just ask).

And then finally a good one that I like is Cosmo's introduction to Melee here

If you were looking for a more handwritten guide well... that's not likely to be around at this point. If you want specific advice, I'd suggest going to smashboards or you could try asking folks here on what you want to learn or need to learn still. We can't help you if you don't tell us anything specific.

I also recommend anyone watch those videos as well that is wanting to get somewhere skill-wise. You might expand your knowledge and learn something new, you never know.
