Terminatyr Genisys teaser trailer teaser

In terms of quality from start to finish I don't think BTTF has the same kind of quality dips that Matrix, Terminator, or Alien had personally.

Well, shit, I agree there for sure. I can sit through all three BttFs whereas I'd rather rip my eyeballs out than sit through Terminator 3 or Alien 4.

Ok that tease was actually decent. Looking forward to the trailer now. Still not optimistic it will be a good film though. The cast is terrible. Love Arnie though.

That teaser was good. Almost as good as the Jurassic World teaser.
I expect the same disappointment tomorrow.
Seriously, I liked the shots, particularly Skynet launching missiles.
But Genisys really?

Yep. I can sit through all three of the BTTF movies and have a pretty good time. I think the quality of the sequels are enhanced if you marathon it and watch all 3 movies in a row. BTTF3 has a bunch of really nice parallels to the original movie that I think make the movie work despite the genre switch.

Pretty soon, we'll get one second teasers for 10 second teaser trailers, which tease 30 second extended trailers which tease full 2-minute trailers which tease the 2-hour movie which is pretty much a teaser for the next sequel, anyway.

You just defined the Hunger Games.

Yeah. No. It doesnt look worse. You know it. Put off your nostalgia glasses and look at it again.

I love Terminator 2...i really do. Heck, I love it since I was 6 but to say this teaser is trash is just plain dumb, boys and girls. It doesn't look bad at all and what about waiting for the real trailer tomorrow to judge about the look of the movie?
I don't think teaser looks bad. I'm very hopeful for this. But T1000 doesn't look that great in that shot. Liquid metal CG in T2 had some sort of elegant simplicity that gave it otherworldly look and sold the whole thing better than this does. They also did some liquid metal scenes with a mix of props and CG, which were especially good.

This is just how I remember it:

It still amazes me that nobody in these Terminator threads can be bothered to look up what
Genisys actually means, it isn't just some made up word.
It stands for General Identification System (computer system for biological identifications).
It's probably related to the rumored
man+machine bad guy.

Connor here is shooting at the tarmac and the Doctor is too emotionally distressed to hit anything. Holy hell I should probably quote that image.

Or not post it at all since its a banned image.

- Racist / Bigoted humour or language. As per the Terms of Service, "you will not use NeoGAF to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Sexual, racial, or ethnic slurs will not be tolerated in any form and are bannable on the first offense." This includes racial or bigoted humour. We do not allow any slurs--including middle school language like "That's so gay!". This also includes racist comedy images, for example "Shoop da Woop" or "Stole My Bike". It also includes misogynistic, sexist, homophobic, or anti-transgendered remarks, jokes, or memes. Although we do allow some humour that offends, it's easily possible to cross the line and people are banned for particularly cruel and insensitive remarks all the time ("rape time" is one example--and I know the "nicole bass" meme was a big thing years ago, and no shortage of people have been banned in threads commenting on natural disasters).

The fact that Genisys has a meaning doesn't make it any less terrible as a title.

Anyway, the teaser for tomorrow's teaser trailer (God, does everything about this movie sound a bit off) didn't hype me. That CGI hand at the end looks really bad.

The liquid Terminator effect looked awful, why did they think that was a good image to lead with?

Everything else looked like it was a 16 second trailer for a teaser trailer.

Given how Paramount appear to be sabotaging their own film with their marketing efforts thus far I'm actually quite looking forward to watching the trailer tomorrow.

Quite liked this teaser and it gives me hopes for the full thing. Very much enjoy the T2 callback, with the new T-1000. It even looks like T2 in that particular scene, visually.

I hope they show some grey haired Arnie in the full trailer.

Practical effects last the test of time, it's so sad how entirely reliant films have become on CGI.

I don't think the bullet holes on the T1000 have aged well at all. They look like pie tins very clearly hanging off his shirt.

Made gifs from the trailer. They both look off, particularly the Endo arm. An odd shot as it makes his arm look really out of place. Sad to see that they CGI'd it too.

I'm okay with the liquid metal, that's always going to look unnatural, but the arm is real lousy. But it's a trailer so w/e.

I don't know anything about Terminator, but I just came here to say that the OT thread needs to be named "OT Genisys".

This is fucking awesome. It's too bad this is a dying art.

Someone explain this to me. Where the shit is his actual right arm?

Producers tend to be lazy nowadays and demand things to be done:

- fast
- cheap
- at any angles to accommodate whatever change they want

Most don't see the value of practical when they look at a spreadsheet that says 'we are spending [x] in [y] time when we can do it cheaper and faster in [z]'

To answer your question, most practical were depended on angles to hide things such as cables really well so in that specific case the actor probably rotated his body to hide the actual right arm/shoulder area.

I really do love the T-1000 shot. It's the new guy playing a T-1000 but he looks very similar to Robert Patrick.

I'm guessing the CGI isn't finished for the arm, because it looks pretty terrible at the moment.
