PlayStation Experience Event in December Discussion Thread 2 - What we Know

We "know" (based on you know who) that FFVII is happening eventually if not soon, and Parappa has been heavily rumored recently. 3 out of 4...

Jesus I didn't know about the FFVII.

I remember the Parappa rumour thread from last year.

Crash is the only one that hasn't had any evidence, apart from Activision not re-licensing the copyright or something like that?

The SFV announcement is a definite megaton (not for me personally since I don't do fighters); here's to hoping for a couple more on that level and it will make for a cool Saturday

who is making FFVII at SquareEnix though? FFXV team is forever pinned, Nomura working KH3. I mean, when are they going to leak out a game FFVII's size in between their endless development cycle?

hmm.... What's Kitase up to at the moment? FFX/X - 2 HD has shipped.

EDIT: saw above post. Honestly I don't know the status of Kistase's team or if they are helping with FFXV.

the entire FFXIII team? They're not just helping out on development of FFXV now?

Also, this isn't a reply necessarily, because I haven't truly followed FF in years, but I figure now is a good time to throw it out there, what's this deal about CyberConnect2 or whatever wanting to do a FF game?

Fingers crossed

Activision renewed their trademark in 2012. They let an extra one they didn't need die, and people thought that meant they abandoned the trademark. They didn't. They own four Crash trademarks. "Crash Bandicoot", "Crash", a second "Crash" covering different merchandising rights, etc, and finally "Crash Nitro Kart" for the iOS games.

Welp, the first announcement isn't nearly a megaton for me. More like a kilogram.

(Personally, when I get a craving for fightan, I pick up Guilty Gear which has more satisfying gameplay, better character design, much more pleasing artstyle and Bridget. I hope the other announcements wont be as meh as this one.)

That's just from my perspective, though. I see for many people/fans this indeed is a megaton. So you could say Sony is off to a good start.

a kilogram damn that's some shit right there :P

I realize how significant SF is to videogames but I don't think it's automatically the biggest because of being one of the oldest.

'The biggest' is always changing hands throughout history.

The FFXV team is 200-300 but Tabata says they need more and re recruiting people from outside the company. Type 0 HD is Hexadrive and KH3 is being done in Osaka.

Wikipedia tells me SE has 3500 employees, so they should have enough left over hopefully :)

Certainly not the directors including Kitase, they are definetely working on what's next from them now that the FFXIII/Lightning saga is over. Of course artists, people who make 3D assets and programmers are called where they are needed but that happens all the time.

They have enough employees for more Mobile games. And to mantain them... and to make more.

But not enough to make HD Cities.

It's still the biggest.

May not necessarily be as big as its peak years, but in the fighting game scene, it's pretty much the Call of Duty/Monster Hunter/Pokemon-equivalent of its genre.

Still the leader of the pack.

yeah but there's tons of other things being made at SE, many of those 3500 employees got shit to do

I guess we'll see. It'd be veeery interesting, but if they put that on their plate too I don't know how well it's going to work out :P

Fuck I leave for an hour and SFV was leaked, god dammit.

Yeah Square is huge, how do you think the port so many DQ games to mobile ;)

Street Fighter doesn't do anything for me. I know its a big deal for fighting game lovers though. I'm hoping for some other kind of big announcement between today and Sunday. I was curious is the keynote when games will be announced? The schedule kind of has me confused.
