You're right, I'll be patient and wait for further details, but it's just funny because of what Sony said post TR deal "we don't need to buy exclusivity".
There's a difference between helping the funding a game for a company with financial issues and buying timed exclusivity for a game.

I hope this comes to XB1 eventually, multiplatform 3rd party games being exclusive to a single console always feels wrong to me.

Is it just me or does the game basically look like a Street Fighter 4 expansion? I guess it's too premature to say. I hope they completely rewrite the mechanics, SF4 was a pretty big letdown.

Another comparison pic for those who missed it earlier.

My impression is that they went back to the zbrush originals, did a smaller polygon downgrade, and then added some details like Ryu's longer hair and new gai.

Not that this is an unreasonable approach.

The actual renderer itself seems notably upgraded.

I'm not as upset yet because I'm waiting to get clarity on the funding situation. For a long time Ono was saying there was issues with making SFV and all this and Capcom's financial troubles, I need to know if Sony helped them bring the game into existence or if it was being made multiplatform and they just paid for exclusivity.

What exactly is the difference? It's still just money changing hands at the end of the day, and we will never be privy to complete financial details of a games development. This always just feels like people just begging companies to tell them what they want to hear to somehow feel better about themselves, like the whole "don't announce DLC before a game comes out so that I can pretend it wasn't in development until after release" thing.

Man I love console exclusive battle. Good O Days.

Exclusives are what define a console. I don't want all systems having the same games.

Was not expecting a SF5 announcement today. Might pick up for PC, and actually get some use outta my 360 fightstick again. Doesn't look that great to me though, maybe cause it's still early on, or it could be the artstyle. Can't put my finger on it.

I think that's definitely what they did.

I'm glad too, but I think their shaders could use a bit more work. Still early though.

Yes, their success on mobile and PC f2p (outside of perhaps the Onimusha game) is pretty limited.

However, it's the lowest risk/highest reward option they can find, so they're investing in that instead of taking risks on other platforms.

They used to take risks on other platforms quite often, but since they've frequently failed, and cost a ton of money when they do, they're retreating to where they can fail very often and not lose a lot of money, and any successes in theory would make them a lot of money.

Yes, it makes sense but it's still well Street fighter with that much dominance and reliable fanbase in such a genre It doesn't exactly seem like the biggest of risks, especially considering they probably resell updated versions again and again.

Makes me wonder how a mainline RE is going to work since it's the type of franchise than demands a high invest/risk to remain relevant in the AAA space.

I dont see many "competition is good" posts now. What gives?
People were just as pissed about Dead Rising 3. Taking a multiplatform game and making it exclusive is a bit of a scummy move. However, Super Fighter 5 Ultra Edition will be on Xbox One probably.

We don't know the details of it. Considering Ono said there was no money for it, maybe Sony helped out

How much money does it really take to upjump SF4's character models' resolution and detail?

Cacpcom must be in such dire straights, that Sony "Money Hatting" SF5, was literally tossing change into a homeless dude's hat.

the graphic style and design are too similar to street 4, i'll play it, but it would have been nice to see something new in that departement!

Knowing Capcom, Super SF5 will probably be on X1 as well. And they'll be like "we're sorry, guys, here is the better version", and all will be forgiven.

I'm not accusing you of anything here but if people are seeing your posts as somewhat biased it may be due to the Sony logo in your avatar. Just a thought.

That was a standard "let's add this to our avatars" little bit that was going around about the time of the, I think, PS4 announcement. I just never took it off. I'm called a Sony Warrior and a Sony Hater in equal measure (because I call out Sony making stupid decisions or having poor schedule planning on a regular basis and started a few threads on those subjects).

I'm just still of the opinion that one can't get mad at any of these companies for doing this. If one is going to do it I feel it's unreasonable to then try and hold some other platform holder to some lofty "moral obligation" to not do it and thus immediately put themselves at a disadvantage in the market.

Now, if this had been the first ever instance of such behavior, I'd be more annoyed, but it's not, so platform holders have to play on the same field as their competitors.

Lol sure. Capcom needs help financing their biggest game and the most successfull fighting game series ever conceived. And I'm pretty sure the money bleeding Capcom really doesn't want sales from the Xbox version whatsoever.

It's moneyhatting and it directly contradicts what Sony PR said 6 months ago. Pure and simple.

For those saying this is the situation as Tomb Raider, it isn't.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced for the PS4, as well as X1 and PC, before MS announced it as exclusive. I even had the game pre-ordered for the PS4.

double dipping PC + PS4 confirmed. (PC for work , PS4 for home)

I hope the speed, rhythm and feel is closer to SF3s than SF4.

I always hated SF4's mashmellow, mushy feeling.

I don't understand Xbox1 owners, you made your choice to opt for the dudebro console, that is your own doing

What a dumbass thing to say.

This is one of those days that will be remembered. "Where where you the moment you found out SF5 was a PS4 console exclusive".

Count me in the boat of people who think the art needed a more drastic update.

Also... At least I know I'll have another game to play on my PS4 finally? I haven't touched it since TLOU...

People didn't wait with the Tomb Raider deal, though. They pressed and pressed before knowing details because no real details were given. I suppose it's too early to press Capcom on this since it's not "official" yet, but once it is I wonder how it'll all play out.

I think they might view that one as a big enough seller to spend money on.

I mean they do spend some money on Monster Hunter for 3DS so if something is sufficiently "safe" I can see them rolling with it.

So the myth that moneyhatting began and ended with MS can be put to bed.

About time.

This isn't even the first time that a fighting game has been inexplicably Sony exclusive after a mutliplatform entry, as the memories of Soul Calibur 3 still linger.

IMO Ono was referring balancing and tuning because as number of character increases time takes to fine-tune balancing increases exponentially..

Show me proof on this, especially when I'm pretty sure this is such false information (isn't SE having financial issues too?!)

Because, Tomb Raider was announced for PS4, Xbox, and PC, THEN for just Xbox. Here, it's announced from the start for PS4 and PC.

Show me where it was announced for PS4, XBOX and PC before the Gamescom exclusivity announcement?

Either way "we don't have to buy exclusivity" was a bold faced lie.
