Considering the sounds I heard from my back yard during this launch, I can't imagine what the SLS will sound like!

NASA set to test Orion spacecraft (deep space exploration).
It looks like a throwback to the Apollo era, but NASA's new spaceship is roomier and designed to go far beyond the moon -- to an asteroid and eventually Mars.

Deep space is used interchangeably, but in the context of the SLS, it's mean outside of earth orbit.an asteroid then mars = deep space?

See you guys in a few hours for splashdown.
By the way, if you're an American citizen - WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE.
Tell them you want more of that shit, throw in a couple of patriotic bullshit lines about how proud you are to be an American and blah blah US leads the wayespecially if your representative is a Republican]/spoiler].
I know I spam that in every such thread, but those thing absolutely matter and they do make a difference.

Hmm interesting. They're using a drone over the Pacific to get images from the capsule when it will be coming back down.
Guys, we live in the future!
Yup! This is too awesome! Can't contain my excitement!Perfect second stage burn!
This is the farthest a human rated ship has been since Apollo 17 40 years ago!
Here's Earth as seen from #Orion during its flight out to a peak altitude of 3,600 miles away from the planet.
