The Game Awards 2014 Thread: Keighley unveils, less McHales

goal is to reach the center of the galaxy, which they said could take upwards of 50 hours

So you collect resources and tech along the way while cataloging everything you see for other players that retrace your steps?

That sounds awesome, but it depends on what the gathering is like.

there's a thread in here with info from the recent preview. There's gunplay, exploration, maybe meeting random space travelers if you're lucky, ship/suit upgrading. Yes the game is largely exploration and the sense of wonder but there's more to do.

But the attitude of "is this even a video game?" is seriously starting to irk many the wrong way.

I have no clue how anyone can even remotely have this kind of opinion either. It makes no sense at all.

Edit: Woo a Godzilla game for PS3...oh and PS4.

Not really Geoff...seems like the stream failed.

So, what DO you do then?

Maybe you guys should read some more about NMS?

If you need a goal, it's to reach the center of the galaxy. It will take a minimum of 40-60h to do so if you keep on track.

To do so, you need to upgrade your equipment with credits that you can earn in a variety of ways.

Harvesting resources, Piracy, Merc escorts/ helping law enforcement, discovering / exploring planets and cataloging species (you can actually also shoot on planets with a tricorder type thing).

You can also set your own goals in a galaxy composed of millions of stars and planets to explore.
