This was absolutely disgraceful. I have big problems with companies treating their paying customers and fans like that.

SE and Sony should feel absolutely ashamed.

It is cleaner than the classic and has trophies. That is what a remaster is. Look at Grim Fandango etc. Not much different.

I realized I haven't played this game in almost a decade. After the initial disappointment I realize this is the best we are getting and it is something I would like to play again.

I haven't made a thread yet during my year on gaf but I am so damn tempted to make a 'Sony, what the **** were you thinking?' thread. I really think one needs to be made.

And if the whole thing is a hoax, well then the joke is on us, which it is either way.

FF7 wasn't just designed with rough, chibi graphics, it required them. You replace those with HD, CGI-quality character models and the whole thing just falls apart.

The original translation and lines are a core element of the original game.

FF7 cannot be remade without being highly altered ,and thus changing to something isn' FF7.

SE knows this too.

Yeah, I mean, SE is getting hammers but few are mentioning Sony when they allowed this as part of the show.
 
yeah, at this point I don't really expect or even want a remake of FFVII any more. I understand the reason why it's can't/shouldn't be remake, but when they mislead us like this, it still freaking hurts man...

It's the same thing with Crash. They have no know how many people want the games. If it isn't happening, take the 10 seconds it takes to send a tweet out saying it.

Why?
The original came out and no one cared. Unless there's something offensive, nothing has to be changed.

Edit: The fact they're still selling FF7 without any of these changes proves that.

I honestly don't know what to make of it. They dropped it like a megaton, it was actual trolling. Huge cheers at the start, meager cheers just to not be rude at the end. Not actually sure as to which way we are being played, I'll reserve final judgement for when the whole event is over (especially curious for the mystery game, tomorrow at 4pm). But for me it just doesn't make sense that somebody traveled all the way from Japan and was given a prime slot in this conference to announce this. Its no more important than when PS Classics went digital, or the last Final Fantasy sale on the PSN. At most it should have been announced amongst smaller titles, taking up a minute or so, or a part of a montage.

Its shocking tho, to say the least. Whoever was behind it at Sony knew what they were doing :s

As soon as Spring 2015 came up I felt the pain. Like the girl that left me without breaking up, that sick in the stomach dread.
 
I have so many questions...are the cutscenes going to look like low-res dogshit? What about the pre-rendered backgrounds?

Is this game going to run in a 20 inch box inside my 55 inch TV?

I don't even know why I'm asking because I WILL NOT BE BUYING THIS GAME.

Fuck you, Square-Enix. If I had a Twitter account, I'd be blasting SE right now.

A remake would probably be morose ,dark and melodramatic which is nothing like FF7.

Its tonally very complex.

I mean look at Crisis Core...Its nothing like FF7..Only in name and some designs only.
 
lol fuck, missed the conference live and I go on gaf and see this thread. Fuck man, feels bad. Went and watched the conference on twitch, glad I didnt see that live. Godamn.

Final Fantasy X balanced its theme just fine. It was dark and happy at the same time. It's no excuse to not give us a proper remake of FFVII. Square-Enix are just a bunch of shitheads who are more concerned with Tomb Raider.

Let them focus on garbage like Tomb Raider. Hopefully they die a slow and agonizing death like Eidos did and get acquired by a competent publisher.
 
I think people sincerely believed FFVII would be appearing as a remake. And I think other people believed FFVII would not be appearing at all.

I don't think a single soul out there watching could have imagined in their wildest dreams a two minute presentation dedicated to a FFVII port. I'm still in disbelief that it really happened.
