Now that my frustration has settled down a bit, I'm ok with this.
Day 1
Still keeping the hope alive for another day.
If this is the same version as the PC one I'm pretty sure you can just play it right now. Doesn't take a monster rig to run.
Already have played it on PC, but I prefer playing a consoles.
Not a huge PC lover

That's what I was thinking. As someone who strongly believes we need to make classics as widely available as possible, I like the idea of this release. Especially if they bump the resolution and add trophies. And because PS1 classics (stupidly) can't be played on PS4.
But a press release would have been sufficient. I guess the reasoning is that it was the 20th anniversary celebration. But man. What a burn....
No less than $20 I'd bet.

I had the exact same thought. Which scares me, but I also wouldn't doubt that Square Enix would make a special exception.
I couldn't even believe they'd do that. I held out hope throughout the whole damn thing till the end of the trailer. Final Fantasy VII isn't even my favorite out of the series and I was so damn hyped. This honestly could've been something announced off to the side or at least without so much fanfare. Incredibly cruel.
Wish the announcement was actually Final Fantasy XII getting the same treatment as X and X-2.

Glad I got the cliff notes after the presentation. I don't believe in a remake and even I would've probably fallin' for this if I was watching live.

Not surprised, holy shit S-E you are on a roll pissing off people with this and TR.
PSX Classics aren't playable on PS4, atleast not yet. Getting it on so fast and for the 20th isn't really a bad idea in and of itself, but that Hashimoto presentation whew.

I don't think people are being irrational. That was stupid stage presence. At least announce a new game if you go up there. Also, this has bugged me for a long time. Why do they keep sending Shinji Hashimoto to speak horribly butchered English, instead of hiring a representative who speaks English well. They could have used someone from Square's US branch. Or Hashimoto could have brought a translator with him on stage.

The PC port was alright. Not sure about the music comparison. The video software was shitty though, and doesn't work on newer versions of Windows.
It doesn't really have anything over the PSX original except for high resolution blocky characters.

No it doesn't. That's a huge stretch. IMO there's no way we don't get it --- it's a cash cow for Sony. We didn't get it at launch because it wasn't (rightfully) a priority, and once the PS4 settles in for the long haul I'm sure we'll get it.

I don't see how, this will likely have achievements similar to the ones on steam and other small changes. If anything, they are likely doing this before that feature would be added to double-cash-in.
