While it would be so, so rad to guide Captain Toad through Hyrule or Zeebes or Dream Land or Yoshi's Island, so far all the unlocks with Amiibo have been kinda fun but superficial and I dunno how much I like the idea of requiring the specific figures to unlock level packs. What if I can't find Marth? No Fire Emblem levels?

I mean even if it was only a few figures like Mario Kart, that's still $13 per pack and that seems like a lot VS the DLC Nintendo's been offering so far.

Maybe if it was just like "Have an Amiibo? Scan it and unlock a new book of levels" but it wouldn't matter which specific figure it was? Like a "Nintendo All-Stars" level pack.

Or maybe there will be Treasure Tracker specific Amiibo of Toad/Toadette? I could get behind that, I'd love to have a Captain Toad figure. I wonder when they'd announce it? All the DLC for their titles have been months after release so I guess it'd be sometime next year.

Captain Toad seems like the PERFECT game for any kind of additional level packs, though, no matter how they do it. Reply hope they bring more levels out eventually and I'm not even half way through it yet.

Diddy, Little Mac and Zelda are a little less available on Canadian sites right now it seems.

Just ordered Pit and Zelda, I'm less interested in the other ones for this wave.
 
A few shots of my Amiibo(es). I think all of them are really good quality, certainly not Happy Meal level. They are also heavier than I imagined. Luigi is quite larger than the other ones I have, but I guess that's a given. You can see some jean textures for his overalls as well, it's a nice touch. Sorry for the poor lighting, focus, and composition.

I'm a bit annoyed at myself for putting the decal on slightly crooked but this is how I'm displaying my Amiibo at the moment, the stand is from ebay. Also still waiting for the other four characters to arrive.

For Wave 1 I only need Samus/DK/Peach, I figure I'll grab the hardest to find (of these 3 at least) just to make myself feel better.

Wave 2 I have Zelda/Little Mac/Captain Falcon on preorder already, I assume Luigi will be the easiest to find so I can wait on him.

Wave 3 I want Ike and Dedede the most, Meta Knight is a must have because of exclusivity. I'll get more down the road but these are the must-haves when they come out (though I need Mega Man too).

Do you have GCU? If so continue on saving that 20% per figure (claps).

If not Toys R Us currently has a buy $35 in Amiibos (3 of them) and save $10. I did this in 3 separate transactions and got 9 for under $100 bucks. TRU also has the most stocked shelves I have seen in person. They are also carrying the Exclusive Lucario figure that you can pre order.

Don't forget BB has Meta Knight Exclusive up for pre order now.

Gamestop has Shulk exclusive you may want to secure as well.

There is also the rumored Rosalina that is amazing. Probably exclusive to Target

Mart and Villager are on the way. Couldn't find them myself so my Mother in Law got them (probably eBay). "They are for my daughter." Muahhahahahahaha
 
Do I buy Captain Falcon or do I wait for Ness?

I play both a lot in Smash and neither seem to be a much supported amiibo in the future.. Do we already have pictures of Ness or a release date?
 
Judging by prices, I suppose Link is rare not just because he's popular but because he unlocks stuff in HW? I only preordered Zelda on Amazon, haven't gotten anything else yet.
 
Got all of wave 1 and didn't even have to Preorder any of them. Walked into my target yesterday and got Marth and Villager :)

Wasn't going to get them all but why not?

Bring on wave 2!
 
Are Nintendo going to make more of these to restock stores?
I want Yoshi but don't want to pay double the asking price on ebay...

I'm gonna assume that they will just make more of these? (especially popular characters from the Mario universe)

Stores I went to last week (specifically the Nintendo World Store) have received new stock.
It's so weird to read posts saying Yoshi and Link are hard to find..at the Best Buys and Targets around here they are swamped with every single figure except the "rare 3".

Nintendo has begun restocking all the characters with the exception of the rare 3 so you should be able to walk into a store and get Yoshi without any issues.
 
Good to know that they're restocking.
I only really want to get the Mario universe characters (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi etc.) as a gift for my girlfriend.
 
So I hope Nintendo has an announcement soon regarding Wave 2 and doesn't just stealth release them.

Currently we know that Zelda, Diddy and Little Mac are the only ones with a possible release date of this coming Friday December 12.

Captain Falcon, Pit and Luigi still read as December 31, 2014, no release date, a placeholder pretty much.

What is everyone's plan for those first 3?

I have an Amazon order as back up, but will be going to Wal Mart when they open at 7am. Then Target at 8am when they open, then EB at 9:30am at opening and Future Shop at 10am. I will be trying the in store pick up for Future Shop as well when they go live around 3am or so.

Hopefully Wal Mart has them all and decent paint jobs at 7am and I can just go back to bed.
 
I'm torn on wave two. I want Zelda but at the same time she looks so meh. I want captain falcon but I can't get over the giant leg block. I sorta want diddy and little Mac but I would almost rather pre order another two from wave 3 instead. Still waiting to see more pics of pit. I'm not too worried about getting Luigi, I feel like there will be plenty of him for months to come.
 
My Zelda amiibo has an estimated delivery date of December 19-30 on Amazon Canada despite the December 12 launch date. I always receive my orders within 3 days usually. Too much demand for Zelda or Christmas shipping delay?

All I wanted was villager but apparently he's gone now. Looked in like 10 stores yesterday and heard he's discontinued, that he was walmart exclusive, that he's only in one out of every hundred boxes and its random, that they replaced him with marth, and that he's not coming out in theUS. Retail workers like making stuff up, lol :(

This would also be acceptable. Honestly, Luigi is my favorite Mario character (barring maaaaaybe Birdo), and the quirkier they make him the more I love it.

And it is insane we have no idea what the Captain Toad amiibo support is yet.

Well, it's not Nintendo developed, but Hyrule Warriors has an entirely unique alternate moveset for Link that can only be unlocked through the Link/Toon Link Amiibos.

However, Nintendo's own offering in Mario Kart was something smaller (just Mii costumes), so using Amiibos in Toad Trackers could just result in costumes for Toad too. If they went in that direction though, I'd prefer if they just gave us actual SD versions of the featured characters. So, rather than Toad in a Mario costume, just give us Mini-Mario. If they tweak the proportions, they should be able to reuse most of Toad's animations anyway. Just leave completely incompatible characters like Kirby out of it.

That could actually work really well. Especially for Link, seeing as the game was initially intended to be a Zelda spinoff...

So even with the confirmation of limited release Amiibos, I'm still hesitant to preorder any.

Call me crazy but I kind of enjoy the hunt. That feeling you get when you go to best buy and see that last Meta knight on the peg...

Going to TRU today to pick up 3 more during the sale! Here's hoping for Marth! Haha haha (laughing slowly turning into sobbing) 😂
 
I'm tempted to buy Villager, Marth, and WFT if I come across them, but I know I'll open them despite getting them because they'll be valuable in the future. So I've got to STAY STRONG and just get favourites.
 
Went Amiibo hunting today after telling myself for months I wouldn't get caught up in another collection hype. Only 1 store (a TRU) of the 12 I visited had rares. I bought all of them: a Villager and 2 Trainers. I picked up the others at the other stores here and there. I had the most trouble finding a Yoshi without defects. I must of looked at 60+ of them across all 12 stores and finally found one with a pretty decent paint job at the last store I went to (another TRU). I noticed alot of Peaches have a dark line on the palm of left hand. Maybe its meant to be a ring but it looked weird so I found a few without it. From there chose the one with consistent colored hair. Alot of them have hair that may be darker or lighter blonde than the hair that comes down around her cheeks. Even though I only saw and bought the one Villager I was so happy that his paint job was almost perfect.

I have all of them except Marth. As I'm looking on ebay I see that 90% of them for sale have the bent sword ranging and price averaging $45 shipped. Gonna hope that a restock is planned. I dont want a bent sword Marth or any messed up amiibos thru the mail for that matter. Its a must I see what I'm buying first hand since I can honestly say more than half of the amiibos I saw today have 1-3 visible imperfections. I'm grateful the ones I have dont have anything wrong with them for the most part.

Just wanted to say I've ordered a lot from Best Buy and all but one were well shipped in a box. The one that was shipped in a bubble mailer was over Black Friday and that may have played a role. With the GCU discount and good packing I've been quite pleased with my Best Buy Amiibos.

yeah, i saw that.. EB also let me order marth and villager, but they didn't know when they'd arrive. i put money down for them, but am not really expecting to get them. if they say they have to cancel, i'll just transfer it over to different ones.

ordered falcon though, i assume he'll be rare, and I wanted him anyway.
 
Got a Villger and WFT for in store pickup at Target tomorrow. Also got all of Wave 2 and a good chunk of Wave 3 from Best Buy in the B2G1 right now. Lucario being "sold out" really sucks and I hope it comes back in stock.

Marth is going to be the hard one for me to find. Just going to preorder everything in advance now to make sure I get them.
 
if anyone really wants those Marth, WFT and Villager Amiibos, I can help get them from my local games. retailer (around 22USD each).

the only question is how in the world am I gonna ship them to you.
