I don't get the troll part here and the memes.
People from Square-Enix announced the "PC version" of the game on PS4.
So?
If the game looks great on HD and in my 60" LED, then it'll be a MUST BUY for me, trying to beat Emerald Weapon at last, after two tries (on PSX and PS Vita).
They never talked about a remake AND, most important, as a big fan of the game, I fear what can anyone do remaking a game like this...

That's not a good point to be honest, Type-0 HD is a full/serious remake/upgrade.

I guess this completely kills off any hope for an FFVII remake ever happening. No matter how many people can dream it happening, it's just not going to happen.

I'd imagine a legit remake nowadays would cost in the many $millions, so yeah they should just put it to rest or crowd fund it. You can't remake FF7 as it was...it is like creating a whole new game from the ground up but with enough of the structure of FF7 that no one gets mad.
He yelled saying we are bringing the pc game to PS4. I don't think anything is going to be improved on.

I doubt SE even has the ability to do an all out remake of the game, they've been criticized before for announcing things too early and at the moment have FFXV and KH3 in the pipeline. another large scale RPG that would be in development for multiple years is only going to compound the problem.

I don't even understand why Sony let SE go on stage with this announcement. Like someone else said, this is something you announce on Twitter or just a general news outlet, but on stage in front of all those people? No.

My problem with the PC port is the terrible midi soundtrack. The PlayStation version's synth sounded better and actually had vocals for One Winged Angel.

PC version on Steam has been patched recently though, it has the OG soundtrack now.

They could use pre-existing engines and assets from XIII/XIV and maybe even XV. The basics are already there with other games, they'd just need to redesign some models and build new scenarios.
They have the money to do that, and they have the manpower. Or they could co-develop w/ Sony. It's not nearly as impossible as people make it seem.
This troll was in bad taste but I'm thinking it's just a tease for something very much a big surprise today that also might happen to be FF-related.

This is one of those cases where people all bitch about something, yet will still buy it when it comes out.
It was officially patched in by Square Enix as has been explained again and again and again by multiple people in this thread.

Unlocks on steam. Same with VIII. Its a sale sure but even without the sale discount its only $11.99. It will probably be the same on PSN.

I didn't buy the game on Steam yet, but I've heard about it several times. I first bought it when it first came out on the SE store and patched it myself then I had to format and didn't managed to get it back due to me not remembering shit about my SE account.
