Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

A hot lap at night during snow:

The game is virtually unplayable in these conditions, lol.

Your sight is like 20 to 15 meters mother of god

Graphics in general seem to be greatly improved.

Not just weather.

I am noticing a big difference from what I saw in October.

I need to get better at racing in this game again. It's so difficult.

Can someone try to do before and after comparisons? I'd really like to see these IQ improvements to be convinced. Or I could wait till I get back home, but I need to know neow! :D

those vids have pushed me over the edge, ordered it from Amazon UK for £24.86 with £5 discount if you use a Mastercard!

There's no AA improvement, hopefully now that they have the weather update out Evo can consider improving the game IQ based on the game performance with all the alpha effects and whatnot going on.

I do the same thing you do, and I agree - clear days should enter the rotation. I'll bring this to rushy's attention. (I bet he doesn't have anything going on right now.)
Sorry, it;s none of my business but when you say you'll bring it to his attention are you involved in the game in some way?

In reference to the weather maybe they could have a slider which selects the chance of having bad weather. something like this and you just slide it to where you want.
[Clear] 0%--20%--30%--40%--50%--60%--70%--80%--80%--90%--100% [Rain}

It could still take into account people's choices when it comes to Cloud Cover & Precipitation, for example I could choose Stormy & Dynamic and about 15%. That keeps it all dynamic so it's still unpredictable but most of the time I'm not going to have rain or snow but because it's unpredictable it could surprise me at any time in any race.

The may not have the groundwork in the game but I'd also like something like a "real world" option in the game for both weather and time and with that if was playing an the new Atlanterhavsvegen track then the time would be relative to me so it would be an hour ahead of my local time and incorporating the local weather for that area would be a real bonus.

As I said, the accurate weather may not be possible simple due to the game not being built for it so I can;t imagine that will happen.

EDIT:
While I'm thinking of improvements it would improve things if it was possible during an event to pause it and select to change the car your using if you're clearly using the wrong car for the job, At the moment it's so slow to change the car and get back to an event so if they could somehow add that so that you don't have to go through several menus to quit out to the cars and more menus to get to the start of the race again.

Err, we need aquaplaning, black ice and foggy conditions before.

And I fucking need a way to trigger photo mode while I'm driving with a wheel, dammit!

They should just add an option for photo mode into the pause menu. Not as convenient but would be a nice workaround

I just did a race in India, clear 12:00PM TOD. Yeah, I'm not crazy, trees look more defined, and they even drop leaves, there's single baloons floating around, it looks noticeably better. I'll upload a couple shots in a minute.

Someone please post comparison shots or something. You're killing me here

It seems Evolution did a lot of hard work on this weather update and it shows. The lighting combined with dynamic weather looks absolutely fantastic at times and has a real next gen feeling. The most impressive thing for me is how silky smooth the framerate remains during these weather effects. It's just so smooth.

Also, the 2 new tracks are great. They both look awesome. The canadian track has a pine tree zone that not only looks fantastic but is also fun to drive through. There are lights overhanging that part and when it becomes dark, they start shining. Look really nice.

Hats of to Evolution for pulling this off. It definately needs replays now so hopefully we will see those soon-ish. If only i could overcome the issues i have with th AI in races, i would play this game a lot (and buy a season pass).

I'm really tempted to finally pick this up now...but the fact that you can't do any of he campaign races in different weather is really, really off-putting to me. Did they ever say the reason for not being able to do so?

Each tour event has specific time/date/weather settings. ie. Playing the "Hot Hatch" event it will always be at the same time of day with the same weather conditions. Allowing you to change them would invalidate all of the leaderboards,

If there is a specific tour event that you want to try in different weather, it shouldn't be hard to recreate it in Single Race mode. Just pick the same track, car type, and time of day, and change the weather to whatever you want.

Campaign races don't have any other option configurable, like clouds, time of day, etc. Why should weather be an exception? It will just mess up the leaderboards.

The campaign is made with preset weather. They would have to change the goals to accommodate rain/snow. Next DLC events will feature weather heavily though according to Rushy's tweet.

edit: Beaten like a PS+ edition of Driveclub

Looking at those videos seems every single weather condition is ruined by the awful bf3 like 'shit on the screen' effect.

Such beautiful graphics and then they put that awful wet screen/blinding snow effect over it all :\

Can you turn that off at least?

Damn this weather patch is really tempting me to finally pick up the game and stop waiting for the PS+ edition.

Before I head out to Best Buy, have all of the online issues been resolved? If not, what issues still exist? Maybe if they are small I can overlook them.

Have you tried driving in a heavy thunderstorm or snowstorm? You really can't see shit at all. That's part of the experience. In fact the rain effect in this is nothing compared to what I've experienced from some torrential downpours in the summer here. Sometimes you have to pull over because you literally cannot see the road in front of you.

There are 3 new tracks. 2 in Canada and 1 in Norway.

I guess that will have to do.

Yeah, I agree that it would be nice to go through Tour and earn stars while also messing around with the event settings, but they specifically chose them for the event.

Like they might have selected a certain time of day and time progression for an event so that when you come out of a tunnel the sun is just setting. It's part of the experience.

That sounds neat but may not be sufficient since photo mode supposes you have a DS4 in your hands, and the DS4 is almost disabled when you're using a wheel (a legacy one, at least, how's that with a T300RS, guys?)

Whatever, this needs a fix. So many wowing moments I couldn't capture because of that... :'(

By the way, I've sent you a challenge that you should be able to try!

T500RS user here. I know what you mean, but isn't a reply mode supposed to drop soon? I think that might be an even better solution.

This is a videogame
You don't see people asking for neckpain in an f1 game either.
