Sinclair pass is amazing
That is all.
That is all.
This is actually one of the things that struck me as incredibly odd when I played the game for the first time yesterday. The a.i. just doesn't give two fucks and decides to ram into you at full speed on a straight line. One of the few gripes I have with the game so far.So they've fixed the AI? No more ramming into me and fucking up my score?

Heavy Rain
Stormy Clouds

The way the lightning lights up the terrain made my jaw fucking drop.

Nice to see a vid that's not in a super car. Epic.
The update itself is great but there's one really sad detail.
I am SO TIRED of shit splattering on screen when it shouldn't.
I play chase cam, I don't want the fucking rain on my screen, I am not a fucking camera and I don't have a windshield before my fucking eyes. Seriously.
Now it renders night tracks + rain almost unplayable and for no good reasons.
Is it just me, or does precipitation not affect driving conditions (handling)? Also, are there only a few places with snow? It would be nice to choose a Canadian location with snow during the day.
It's usually the player who is driving like a mad man, you really can't make the AI capable of reacting to all the crazy shit that the players do, when the players themselves aren't driving like how racers would drive IRL. And it's fun how the AI can make very human-like mistakes (that have nothing to do with what the player is doing). The AI does clearly have situational awareness, but the player can easily destroy all of that by being an asshole in races.I've read quotes from a number of people who've said that the AI is "amazing".
It really isn't, it's actually pretty bad, the AI have zero situational awareness.

I needed my first time in the rain at night to be a gentle one.

There's a very good reason why it does that. The rain is supposed to not only affect handling, but to affect visibility to add authenticity to the rainy weather conditions (driving in heavy snow/rain is horrible in real life and DC is trying to make it feel authentic) and if one camera mode did not have that, it would be an unfair disadvantage to everyone who used the other camera angles. The update itself is great but there's one really sad detail.

It wouldn't be fair for those that do play in cockpit.
You should play in cockpit too. Seriously.
I usually drive in FPS mode (not sure what the proper term is for a racer, but no hood, etc.) in most driving games, I just find I am most precise when using this view, but DC I prefer cockpit, and I think I finally figured out why and I think you touched on it with your comment about slowing down into a turn you did not even need too.I think driving so often in FPS mode in GTAV was a good way to get used to that sort of view . I'm finding myself driving in cockpit view in DriveClub much more then my usual front bumper cam. But all the views offer such a different experience I find myself switching alot just to catch a view in a certain lighting. Lighting is beyond phenomenal. It makes races even on the same track completely different. You may catch a think span of shadows messing with your view of the layout of the road causing you to go wider on a turn then you may do in a different time. You may hit a section of the road on a later lap in darker lighting causing the same effect. You may turn right into the blinding setting sun and have difficulty seeing on a stretch you were just fine on before.
Such like that. But man, the hood cam is phenomenal too with the reflections of the track. My fav though would have to be Cockpit and right on the road cams. Right on the road, the sense of speed is almost too much lol. I am only going 110 through those first few circuits and finding myself slowing down into a turn I didn't even need to.
Great stuff. Will post some pics when I get home. Already taken several. The photo mode is really well done
The AI is aggressive, sure, but these are pretty narrow roads and there are a lot of cars on the road so it's to be expected that they can't drive all nicely without any collisions or contact, especially when the player is sometimes driving aggressively & somewhat illogically himself. I find it fun that they are aggressive because I am pretty aggressive towards the AI drivers as well, so it's just fair that they fuck up my races from time to time when I've been a huge pain in their ass earlier.Hmmm.....not convinced by that argument, at all.
AI appear to have super-brakes, and can stop MUCH quicker than the player can, this leads to the AI ramming you as you tend to start braking much earlier than they do.
They also turn in on you a lot.
They also ram the hell out of each other............

It's definitely just you. Go take the Ariel Atom for a spin with and without precipitation and the difference in traction is night and day. You have to accelerate out of corners so very carefully to avoid disaster.
He shows them avoiding a moving car as well. Again, the AI IS good and they've managed to make them relatively humanlike in their mistakes. Just like the guy says in the video, any bigger mistakes with the AI drivers is more likely to be the cause of the player driving in ways that would simply make it impossible for even the bestestest AI to avoid the player with any kind of decent success than the AI actually sucking.AI avoiding a static car is a very different thing
Yes, the ones where it's realistic. Also, are there only a few places with snow?.
You can see some snow in the heights of the new Canadian track (Sinclair Pass). It would be nice to choose a Canadian location with snow during the day.
I wonder if any outlets will write any articles about these changes or update their reviews. The game really deserves a second look. This is coming from someone who heavily criticized the launch too.

And I personally brake a lot later than the AI, which causes another kind of problem (I'm often crashing into AI cars from behind), but one that is more easily avoidable (I'll just try to pick my driving lines in a way that even though I brake later, I won't bump into the AI cars).

As someone who doesn't care much for sim racers but loves stuff like Burnout, any chance I'd like this?
Like I'm seriously debating a purchase solely based on these gifs.
