You may have seen the trailer released last year. Valve reached out to the creator to incorporate it into TF2 as an official update with community made items. Proceeds support the creators.

Actually the map was removed from the update, after being basically completed because (according to one of the map makers) Valve though it was "too confusing and challenging for new players."

The map wasn't that confusing and was actually quite fun, so needless to say there is quite a bit of a backlash in the TF2 community against the map being removed.

The movie is quite good though.

It's a nice movie.

That update though...

Not just that, but there's that duck stat shit that's locked behind a paywall too.

The video was nice, though not 100% spot on (characters were a bit weird at times).
So it's just some cosmetics and a new melee?

Honestly, I don't understand how Valve could consider this map confusing when things like cp_steel and rd_asteroid exist. Heck, even Gravelpit is more confusing to new players than Snowplot.

All in all, I'm disappointed. Also, ducks stopped being funny after Halloween.

The video is amazing though, props to McVee and his team. I just wish the update bundled with it was of the same quality.

Ah my bad, just assumed it made it in. Bit of a bummer, didn't seem too much more involved than the actual new game mode/map they're testing.

That Valve focus-test magic at work!

It was alright - no voices and it only reached the comedy and genius timing from valves own in a few spots.

I would love a game with these characters in another type of game btw. Something story driven like an RPG or a platformer ala DK64.

I liked the film okay, but the update is TF2's worst, following on the heels of the worst Halloween update.

Buy a badge for $5 that lets you view the Star Bits leaderboard. That's literally it. You run over ducks dropped from foes and that increases your duck-o-meter. Compare your duck-o-meter with your friends' because apparently we've come full circle and Cow Clickers are cool again.

Even the update page is a poorly designed, unreadable and poorly written ("This sounds like something Valve would say but I'm not actually a writer so I don't realize how awkward and unfunny this reads!") mess.

Everyone involved should be embarrassed, and I feel bad for the dude that spent nearly two years (?) on the short.

Loved the short, hit all the right marks even if the animation looked a little stiff or awkward in some places.

Update itself is a pretty big disappointment though, especially the fact the map made for the update didn't get it. Valve has always been very picky about what kind of maps get in, which in itself is pretty dumb considering some of the monstrosities Valve has added into the game.
