I'm very tempted to pick this game up today but I need a few questions answered before I do.
1) Does it rain/snow on every track in the game or only specific weather-made ones?
2) Has the online portion been fixed completely? I've heard it is either: a) working or b) better than before. Which is it?
3) Is there something that still doesn't work from launch?
4) Would any of the free DLC be available to me and if so, what's the content?
5) I'll need some DC friends. Who's game?

Thanks for replies about the sound. I see now, yeah the thunder and rain sound effects are definitely too low or non existent. I've not heard one rumble of thunder so far after lightning. That would be epic. The only other thing i'd like to see revised would be the colour of the lightning (shoot me now)... it seems a touch too blue. Lightning I've seen in real life is just searingly white/bright. Other than that I'm loving the game lol.
Posted a wee video of the transition from dry to wet on Sinclair's Pass (Ridge?). So lovely when the track gets completely wet and reflective and the sunlight blinds you off of it. Amazing game, just amazing.

1) Precipitation is a variable toggle (dry/light/heavy/dynamic) that can be activated on any track. Rain can happen in any location, snow can only happen in climates in which it might realistically snow.
2) Everything online is operational. For me, it's been working flawlessly for challenges. Leaderboards can be a touch slow to load (I'm talking a few seconds), but that's it. Other than that, I hear others saying that multiplayer is fully functional but now and again they still run into disconnects or getting dropped from lobbies.
3) Everything from launch is rocking and rolling, save for the in-game notification system (no clue exactly how it works even as it's seemingly never worked properly but I haven't even noticed) and the companion app still isn't available.
4) You'll get, for free, two tour expansions which include various racing, time trial, and drift events; three (or is it four now?) tracks which are incredible; and I believe about four cars, three of which are super fun lightweight cars that are a blast to drive.
5) You can be my friend (supaflyryguy on psn), but you'll get loads more friends by adding DRIVECLUB-GAF on psn and then adding any amount of friends from their friend list. Vivecks came up with that idea and you can have 100's of friends if you want, so he's to thank.

What is your favourite track after the weather patch? There are so much options now.... It would nice to try some favourites.

1) Every track, but so far, only in Single event mode.
2) Servers can be a bit slow and wonky, but it works
3) I can't find anything that doesn't work, that said, I get plenty of crash to dashboard issues.
4) Yes, Ignition and photo finish pack, plus the two new tracks from the weather update

Not a big deal but notifications and companion app are still missing in action.
The two free DLC you'll get bring some single player events and some new cars.
The tracks aren't part of them, and you'll keep getting new free tracks (a whole new location) and few free cars later.
I'm kind of terrified what GT7 is gonna look like.

The only problem I have is that my concentration is not as good anymore after work so on weeknights my driving is terrible most of the times.
In the early mornings of weekends I drive so much better haha..
Got to be a little bit careful, as some of the static shots could be from the photomode, which can dramatically improve IQ from what you would see in motion.

Same here. I'm really tired after work in those heavy months like december. We will see over about 30 min when i'm home haha! I also have to go to the gym (it's downstairs), but i'm maybe gonna skip that for today ;-). Pfff to much games i have to finish, but luckily 2 are singleplayer (Alien and Metro Last Light).
I'm playing Drive Club again since the weather patch. I was to busy with GTA V and Destiny. But i still switch between those games.
That gif of the dude driving through the rain looks almost real. Could be the rain hiding all the gameness.

It honestly looks good in game too. The anti-aliasing has improved since launch.
Oh, I know it does, it's the best looking game of this generation, but the IQ can still be dramatically better in photomode (shadows in particular)

Just got this last night.
Loaded up a USB stick with some music and went driving. The more I raced the more I realized my current playlist wasn't cutting it. I think an exclusive lineup of Boards of Canada and/or Royksopp is exactly what this game needs. Very atmospheric with a tinge of nature.
Also, I could use a club/DC buddies too. PSN: Strikevillain

I agree it's a wonderful game, but do notifications work for you? I've NEVER seen them work, yet no one discusses this so I don't know if it's just me.

Oh, the in-game dash system in the right corner notifications? I wouldn't even know, to be honest. I'm guessing it doesn't if I haven't noticed it and I've had the game since launch. PS4's game-notifications work for challenges, though.
edit: I'll edit my post above to clarify, since it's something that I hadn't noticed but you are surely right about. Companion app as well.

Things were working good for me a few days ago but all the driver statistics now have pretty much stopped loading for me and challenges take forever to be able to see/view. The numbers also seem off, it says I have 3 received solo challenges but when I go in there it only shows 2.
I'm getting the same thing but it really is more of an annoyance than a problem. Not forgiving the game but just being realistic. I'll take this behavior 24x7x365 over what the game breaking stuff that happened at launch.
There is work to be done to polish off server connectivity and oddities. Also Evo, please add a local stat for best lap from splits. It'd be nice to know what kind of lap I could be running if I could put it all together.

I was under the impression that photo-mode actually makes the shadows look worse? At least that's what I remember people saying and seeing in comparison shots.

Game came a looong way since launch. Now if it could support my G27 I would be in heaven.
Big fan of both Röyksopp and Boards of Canada, here, but sometimes you need some more rhythm to set the times on fire.

Yeah, the one in the top right corner. I assume that is where I'm supposed to get updates about people beating my challenges, and other various things from the club. Kind dumb it doesn't work at all.
Going to boot this game up for the first time in weeks and play it all day. Does the weather stuff pop up in solo offline mode? Like the campaign? Or is it only online races, and custom races?
Or is it integrated into various races at some points? I want to experience the weather. But I usually only do the campaign stuff.

Online races and custom single events (non tour). An upcoming Tour pack will add campaign events with weather.
Ah bummer. I'll have to jump online then. =/
I've always much more enjoyed offline. Because I'm not very competitive and just like to relax and race. And I love the environments in this game. I guess I can do the custom single events? Those are offline right?

Ok guys, I made a comparison from vanilla DC (launch) to the patch that came out today to see if there's been any change in IQ for gameplay. It's not a perfect comparison but I tried to get the lighting and positioning as close as possible.
Here's the original shot I took back in October:

I honestly don't see much difference but I do feel that the game...looks better...post weather patch. Not sure what it is exactly.
Why is the vegetation different on the rocks? There's moss on the rocks in the original version that's missing on the latest update.
