Regard with Name Changes? I never pay attention to people's names. I just picked the character and went ahead with it.

If someone actually did that to me then they actually waste their time to do something silly like that.

I've fought a lot of people named after racial slurs! What were their parents thinking?!

Maybe their parents are racists too. It's unfortunately situation where parents want their children to share same hates.

Anyway, 5 more headgear. Hopefully it wouldn't be that bad as 3DS version.

I think the Gamecube controller is good, but the shoulder buttons are awful.
The Wii U Pro Controller has great shoulder buttons, but the analog stick is not across from the buttons, which is uncomfortable. Plus it's wireless, which I think is irritating.

It's really about picking the lesser of two evils. If the 3DS had a better analog stick, I would actually said it has the best control interface.

I love the name changing. I've had it happen to me and since then me and my roommate can't stop doing it, especially in teams. "Goku" and "Vegeta" makes me so happy.

Getting the hang of controlling Fox better. His fair and dair seem nearly useless. Uair is a great kill move (imagine that) and nair and bair seem pretty decent with low landing lag.

His tilts seem great. Usmash is good for KOs. Not so sure about the other two. Having a hard time with his throws, uthrow goes SO HIGH and down throw sends the opponent at an awkward angle. Managed some dthrow->uair KOs but it's not easy, probably near impossible with good DI (for me right now, at least). Haven't messed with his back or forward ones since I never use those out of habit.

Laser is neat. Two recovery moves that aren't awful, neat. Reflector, hmm. I guess you can't really do any shine shenanigans in this game, maybe edgeguarding.

Played 15 matches with one guy and after I had 5 straight wins changed his his name to u suck. Beat him 10 more times in a row before he quit after trying to lag switch me lol.

The only time someone has changed their name on me so far on For Glory was when they had a " :) " as their name...and then I ended beating them pretty badly and they changed their name to a " :( "face lol.

I should make a ":/" face if I selfdestruct as Meta Knight.

And a ">:[" face if there is someone either spamming or short hopping everywhere. Or just rolling the whole match.

Local Smash group is doing a PM/Smash 4 tourney Saturday. I might be able to go... but it would probably mean staying up 24+ straight hours. Would probably sap all the fun out of it (that and going out in the first round in both events!).

I press the c stick and sometimes it does the neutral A, the regular punch moves. I don't know why, sometimes it screws me over, I price c stick right to punish and end up doing the A move. Why is this :(

The most annoying feeling in FG1v1:

Losing to someone you KNOW you can beat (bad character matchup etc) and then instead of going for a second match, they change they name to something like "GitGud" or "lolnoob" or "Wrrrekt" and then they drop the game.

Happened to me last night when I lost to a Samus spammer. Got my Zelda ready only to get trolled and abandoned :(
Ugh, sounds frustrating. Hasn't happened to me yet, so far just a couple of good experiences. One person I played changed names to "LASTONE" before the last match he played, then switched to "GGs" for a few seconds before leaving the room. Another had the name "Wavedash", so I changed to "Lcancel". Then next match he changed to "dashdance" lol.

But yeah, losing to someone you know you can beat is really frustrating when they're an online random. It's exciting if you could know they'll stay, but if they leave, ugh.

Agreed, that it's pretty much a trade off. To me, the GCN controller is perfect aside from the dpad and shoulder buttons (and the dpad is pretty irrelevant for Smash). The pro controller, for no good reason is missing the octagonal gates. The c-stick is also above the buttons, but that's only a problem because I'm used to the Cube controller. I imagine it's fine there for most.
Has anybody else been having trouble with their Gamecube controller s L And R triggers jamming?
I had an R button that would do that if I didn't press it at a fairly straight angle. Would probably help to take it apart and clean it. Disassembly isn't bad, but getting the springs back into the triggers correctly can be a bit of a pain.

I think I might have played that LASTONE guy, except we played like 5 more matches after he changed to that name. Lol.

this, I have been thinking in getting that Hori Pikachu GC controller, it has the c-stick where it should, and the Z L R buttos are like the Wii U Pro, hopefully they make a Zelda themed one someday...

Finished off collecting the fighters, stages, CDs, outfits, trophies, and finishing the challenges! All that I'd still need to collect would be the rest of the hats (have 40 of those) and custom moves (have 305), but I think that's something for the future if I feel like it.

Anyone play Charizard? He's my anti-rollspammer pick in FG1v1. I"m not good with him at all, but Foward B and down B alone make him tons of fun for "not so serious" matches.

What characters give you the most trouble with him? I'm honestly considering putting some time into him to actually get competent. Just wanna know the matchups. I hardly see him in tourneys
Typically safe characters that don't have to commit to anything too much see: Sonic (particularly) and Diddy. Charizard's neutral is very "eh" and largely centered by NAir (which is probably his best move) and he can't approach very well. Charizard shines when it comes to punishing and edgeguarding, and is absolutely terrifying at an advantageous position. He's the character that wants to adapt to the opponent and punish their mistakes accordingly. Unlike other heavies, Charizard doesn't really excel at anything, rather his moves are multi-purpose and diverse so he doesn't fall into typical heavy problems see: he actually has no trouble landing safely. Also, rage benefits him. A lot.

Which goes back to my point, basically any character that are difficult to trap and punish are probably hellish for Charizard. Since he doesn't really have Bowser's OoS option or DK's pokes these character really don't have anything to fear against Charizard. He just doesn't have that one thing that makes you respect him, if you know what I mean. (I guess there's Flare Blitz, but that's not something you should throw out too much against a good player) If he can't get into a good position, then he's going to have a lot of problems in the match.

Yeah I fully understand what you mean. I've lived on his Nair in Project M and it seems its still legit now. Yeah I kinda struggle OoS cuz his tilt isn't nearly as good as DDD as you said. I aslo have trouble closing on spammers.

As far as flareblitz, I do something unconventional and probably risky (and probably stupid). If i get them offstage i tend to pretend like i'm chasing, get behind them, and flare blitz back on stage. If they shield on getup, the recoil puts me hanging on the edge safely. If they avoid it, the distance will usually carry me to safe area.

Those of you complaining about the shoulder buttons on the Gamecube I'm curious, are you using the new ones with the Smash logo or an original ones from the GC days? I find the newer ones don't click as well and even jam a little if you press it slightly down at an angle. No problems at all with my original ones from years ago.

Anyone else has this problem?

Haven't had any shoulder button issues with the newer smash ones here.

Actually did have this happen a few times online. Not sure why.

I'm watching Officer Jenny's ZSS play. Her Zair play and the reverse neutral B... ugh I wish I wasn't at work right now. I need to get some practice in!

Edit: Nair into Fsmash at low percent? Is this real life?

I hate it when you do some amazing shit while practicing and it just kills your will to play because you know you will never replicate it. Granted it was PM and not Smash 4, but I just had to turn the game off because I can't do anything better than that.

Wrong attitude. You are on the cusp of greatness bro

Ha, not yet, but I'm getting somewhere. And I had been practicing mostly ledge stuff for an hour so it was about time for a break anyway (which is why I went and did the nasty combo in the first place).

Speaking of which, how do people usually get off the ledge in Smash 4? I remember seeing the standard ledge get-up was one of the best options in this game. True? Because I never use that in any Smash game.

Is it wired?! If so, please link it to me. This would be huge.

I would probably sell the GC adapter.

Standard get up is the safest unless you're playing a character with a safer option (villager, megaman, sheik, ZSS come to mind). Most inexperienced players use the jump get up or try jump get up air dodge or attack. But an empty jump or a pivot smash covers those options. very easily. And if they try to double air dodge u can exploit the landing lag as well.

A decent option to use against ppl who use the standard get up is to roll into the ledge and grab from behind. Since you have their back they can't jab punish. I use this alot in FG1v1. Not sure how viable it would be in a tourney tho.

Will have to try to use that. I usually drop back and hop onto the stage, sometimes with an attack (can't ledgedash in this game...), and mix it up with ledge rolls/jumps/attacks depending on what my opponent is doing/expecting

I'm not really sure dropping back and jumping up is really worth it in this game though, which is why I asked. Especially having heard the standard get-up is the best option.
