I am finally about to play the update for good few hours!! Shit..
Yeaa, I'm still hyped to play DC, but also snow is hitting gta tonight and I have long wanted to run races with full winter weather on tarmac- not just some rally course [*cough gt]

I will try those settings out.



Also me and one other GAFer are in a club called the: The Formula.

Really think they should have just waited till the weather was ready to release the game. It would have reviewed much better.

I'm addicted to the online now. Only level 20 but got a few victories under my belt. Racing against mainly lv. 30-50 people.

Game is so much fun, on or offline. Wet or Dry. The crazy thing about the weather is sometimes you'll be on a long track and a storm cloud will be over one section of the track, causing massive downpours and then suddenly you are facing into the sun and a big break in the clouds so you get this light misty rain, where your wipers go very slowly and the track is just slightly damp, then you get back around and bam you are in a downpour again. Its surreal to see that sort of transition during a race. Makes it so unpredictable and fun.
 
i'm not even a racing guy and this thread made me think i should get the game
i'll definitely get the ps+ version, and i really think that's when the good reviews/word of mouth will start to spread
man i got goosebumps looking at some of the the shots and gifs in this thread, it's nuts

Well, on the other side of this.. think it still would of been a disaster as they still wouldn't known the network side of things were a cluster fuck waiting to happen.. so it would of been another 2 month delay.. then..boom
 
Hurry up and release the PS+ version, Sony!

So that I can actually buy Driveclub digitally. I can't believe how their current set-up prevents a PS+ version owner like me from upgrading to the full version.

Myself and plenty other people I know of have been able to buy the PS+ upgrade though? Did they get rid of it?

Its a confusing mess. The whole ps4 store / browser store / editions thing. They totally have not got it straight, internally.

You can rebuy the game that you already bought. Be careful.
 
I can't say this enough but this game really made my jaw drop. The visual is absolutely stunning. I can't imagine what driveclub 2 or gt7 would look like

Once you own the PS+ version, I think that icon on the left changes to a PS+ Upgrade Edition that's yellow in colour instead of red.

At least that's how I recall it. It was 2 months ago. :/

The one that says its unavailable is the $60 version for non-Plus members. They make it unavailable so people (that have Plus) aren't charged 10 extra dollars when they buy the game. There's no upgrade on the store for the free PS Plus version because it was never supposed to be released in the first place. Right now the only option for Plus members is the $49.99 version.

edit: Though actually the upgrade was going to be 50 bucks anyway so it comes out the same.
 
Has anyone else been getting regular crashes back to the PS4 "desktop"? Like it fully kicks you out of the game with an error message and a report option.

It's only started doing it since the weather patch. It has happened while doing tour events, loading up challenges and viewing leaderboards. I can't remember the error numbers but I assume it's the same one each time.

Regular, well, I don't know about that but I've had a couple with an error, usually when viewing challenges, or clicking when a challenge looks sort of half empty like it hasn't fully loaded details. None in race.

Yeah, I've had it crash once in a tour as I crossed the finish line. No issues otherwise though.

However, is it possible to turn off the challenges during a time trial? I've been doing those with all the HUD turned off, but I can't seem to turn off the on track challenge displays.

When i turn off the HUD I just turn off the main OSD opacity down to zero (should be the very first selection in the display options menu) and everything goes away.

edit: Oh but maybe the challenges still show in the environment. Pretty sure there's a way to turn them off, though.

I wouldn't say 'regular' but it has happened to me a couple of times.
 
Ok. Found how to turn off the challenges in the environment (should you choose to.) This does not require any HUD elements to be hidden.

Go to Settings > Display > turn "In Game OSD Notifications" OFF.
 
Anyone here able to help me out to get the challenge trophies? Just need someone to play and lose to 5 of my challenges.

I'm looking for something pretty on my PS4. I'm normally not really into racing games (loved driving through the world in GTAV though). Would you recommend this game to a newcomer?
I like unlocking stuff, is there much to unlock in this?

You unlock new cars, tours.. if you like graphics you can't go wrong!

There's a whole bunch of decals/paint designs to unlock in addition to the cars. I'm at level 47 and still unlocking new ones even though I've had all of the cars since a while ago.
 
To preface this, I am not usually a fan of racing games....

Got my copy from Amazon today and HOLY SHIT are the graphics insanely good. I was able to finish up the first rookie cup series. Love the racing, sense of speed, and also the mini challenges throughout the race. They add a constant sense of competition even if you are way out front or in dead last. Very addictive and I am having a blast with it so far. Can't wait to get home from work tomorrow night so I can play some more.

Was able to squeeze in a rainy race and a snowy race and I can honestly say this is the best looking game that I have played on the PS4.

Best $30 I have ever spent that is for damn sure.

I personally think there is a bit of a juxtaposition in the difficulty, I think it tries to straddle the line between arcade and sim too much, there are no options to adjust the difficulty, AI is as it is, no driving assists to turn on or off etc etc.

Where as something like Forza, you can tune the driving model to suit either a complete beginner, or an experienced sim racer.

It's a good mix between sim and arcade. You'll be able to catch your drifts easily and it's not difficult to stabilize your car when you're sideways even at high speed, braking is also very lenient; but the handling is sim in other aspects that require throttle control, certain racing lines with proper speed on turns to avoid understeer or oversteer. I guess it's just something you'll have to try for yourself. I've both seen both arcade fans and sim fans like the handling.

The difficulty in the tour events varies. There are some really tough ones, especially for a newcomer that will take a bit of tries to beat, and there are some easier events including some of the later events that you assume would be more difficult but really isn't. It just depends, you can also skip some of the harder events as long as you have enough "stars" to progress to the next set of events.

Also, your friends can send challenges which are events like the tour, just created by your friends. Basically there can be an endless amount of race events that you race against your friend's times/ghosts, and you don't need PS+ to access this part.

You can add DRIVECLUB-GAF to your friendlist and add everyone on there, since we're all from GAF.

It's got nothing to do with any differences between PS4 Store and Web store (I don't think there's any, in general). It's a problem speciffic to Driveclub, and they've very definitely messed something up there. As you said, even though I own the $50 preorder edition due to buying it with PS+, it's still letting me buy some kind of $50 edition. Even more weirdly, when I highlight the purchased game on the PS4 launch menu, it shows the $50 purchase price underneath it, which just makes me cringe a bit every time I see it. I just hope I can actually re-download the game for free once I need to.

Are they talking just about the sound volume, which seems to be lower in this game than in other games?

Well I am going by what support told me when I managed to buy it twice, once via the browser and second time via the ps4: they said, oh its possible because its two different game-stores. Perhaps they were confused.

So then they reversed the second one, credited me, but de-licensed my digital copy forever. Now I have to use a disc to run it :(
