Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Does anyone know of a good HDMI to DVI/3.5mm audio cable?

I want to be able to hook it up to my PC monitor.
One is HDMI other is DVI, neither support audio through HDMI so... yeah :(
Also wanting to record footage off of it, but that requires DVI as well.
Getting a Vita TV for Christmas.

Other option is just hooking it up to TV in living room.

I am officially getting a Vita TV for Christmas!!!!! :D

Mom ordered me a white one from Japan (was expecting regular black one but white one was cheap enough to upgrade to)

(well California but still)

It will go lovely with my White 1000 Vita

Congrats, welcome to the club. I think we have an application form for jackets around here somewhere.

Anyway, is there any way to turn on screen smoothing for PSP/PS1 games like on the Vita? I really want to finish up Legend of Heroes trails in the sky but it looks so incredibly rough I'm having trouble sitting down and playing it.

can't hold down PS button to bring up menu?
Or are settings saved for games when moving from vita to vita tv?

Also I expect my gif come christmas! (not now)

I have to say that as someone who could never get used to the rear touchscreen for remote play sessions, PSTV has pretty much killed my interest in Vita itself dead. Unless I specifically want to play Vita/PS1 games on the go, that is.

Yeah but Vita TV doesn't play all Vita games.

So beisdes Spelunky, Nidhogg, and Skullgirls, are there any other Vita games that offer couch co-op on the PS TV?

I managed to get ad-hoc mode working for local multiplayer in a bunch of digital games I own with only one copy of the game using my PSTV and Vita (e.g., Minecraft), so that's not bad. I think it'll work for Freedom Wars, too, though I haven't tried it.

All PS1 games.
There's also this advance wars clone - http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/08/27/introducing-desert-ashes-on-ps-vita/

Hey guys,

I just started Suikoden II on my PS TV. Great game, but I'm confused about something.

On my Vita under the emulation settings there's an option for screen size where I can stretch PSOne classics to full screen.

I cannot find that on my PS TV for the life of me!! I went under "Other settings" and all it gives me is disc load. It's baffling to me why this would be absent since PS TV is basically a Vita.

Any suggestions?

(I tried using my TV settings but it's not the same, it cuts off a significant portion of the top and bottom)

If I have a ps4 controller it's probably better to get the base model and snag a 32gb memory card right? I've never owned a Vita so I don't have any memory for it.

Yeah the bundle is crap, an 8GB card is essentially worthless, and there is zero reason to use a PS3 controller if you already own a PS4 controller.

BTW if you're planning on getting a 32GB card you might as well pay a little bit more and import a 64GB card instead.

There are no PS1 scaling options on the PS TV. It's one of a few things that only the Vita can do for whatever reason. I don't own a PS TV, but I'm very interested in getting one and I've done some research.

Thanks, that's what I thought but it just seemed odd to me as I can't see why it wouldn't be there.

Hopefully it gets added at some point.

Have we ever received an explanation for this?

I did exactly this. Got the base model and a 64gb from Amazon. It's already half filled from psp, ps1, and ps+ games that I already owned. I also bought a few vita games too. :)

Probably because to set a custom size (and you need to if you want "full screen" 4:3) you can only use the touch screen.

It doesn't make sense though...you can access that exact same menu by holding down the PS button on the controller, it's just that the screen settings are missing.

No, I mean, if you want to manually adjust the screen size you have to use the touch screen, it's not like on the PSP where you can use (well, no shit) buttons so they probably need to implement those changes into the emulator and since the OS is literally the same they just removed the screen size section which has that and a bunch of preset sizes until they fix it. If they fix it.

How does Persona 3 Portable look through the Vita TV? It looked really blurry on the Vita (unless I missed something in the settings) so I was hoping it'd be better on the Vita TV.

Anyone else have issues with the ps4 remote play ending up in some crappy low res letterbox mode? I believe what is happening is the ps4 isn't able to determine what resolution it should be outputting at when my display is off, so the pstv ends up getting sent what looks like a 480p signal which ends up with black bars top and bottom, all squished.

The only way i can get it to work properly is to go upstairs and turn my whole system on....the receiver and tv that my ps4 are connected to. Then i get a proper image downstairs when doing ps4 streaming on my pstv. Obviously this defeats the whole purpose if i have to go upstairs and leave a second tv on.

I read it might be because i have a hdmi switch between my ps4 and my receiver? Do you think if i ran the ps4 hdmi straight into the receiver it might fix it? The reason I'm using the switch is because i have run out of inputs on my receiver, so if i want to add anymore hdmi devices in the future i will need them plugged into the switch. I can probably change a few things around though so i dont need to use the switch with the ps4.

Yeah. This is probably it. Though I'm not sure why it would be affecting remote play.

2D stuff looks great. 3D stuff less so, but better than playing the PS2 version on a TV.

Thanks for the response. Also, I'm planning on getting the hard copy of Persona 4 golden but I really don't want to spend money on a memory card right now. Is the pstv's 1gb internal storage enough for this game??

The game has no patch or DLC so you only need a few megs for your saves.

nothing looks better on the Vita TV because everything is getting blown up. in the case of a PSP game, it's taking a 480 x 272 image and blowing it up to 1280 x 720. Smoothing might help, but it's still gonna look rough.
