The Order 1886: 15 mn of B Roll gameplay video (direct feed)

Are you seriously kidding right now?

For essentially the entire from time when the game was announced until now they showed

1. Hilariously inept demo in some corridor against some boring pop-box enemies doing nothing of interest. Which they kept re-demoing, like eighty times throughout the year with journalists (who kept writing they didn't enjoy the demo, like so many others did)

2. A few clips of QTE scenes with werewolves, a few hints of its horror elements.

3. This latest 2 minute snippet of gameplay from PSX, in which there was an actual 30 minute demo on the floor that tons of being loved but NOPE, can't watch! Two months out from release.

If you don't realize the intense skepticism and why it has been going on, that's your jig.

I think they're being a bit ridiculous about spoiling the story IMO. They should just release a full play through of this demo with the music and be done with it until the game releases.

Is that even something impressive anymore? Most games look stunning nowadays. The order will be usurped graphically by 2015's end.

This game will have to stand out with its theme and art direction, which is unique in my opinion. But is it enough?

yes, yes it is something impressive. What games are stunning is "subjective", and the ones that do look good are not this stunning.

This shit is unbelievable looking. Like, truly. Between this and Driveclub, PS4 has cemented its undeniable might in the visual power game.

The most amazing thing about The Order's Graphics is how clean the IQ is. Not a jaggy in sight. No terrible texture filtering. It's indoors, but no pop-in. Heck, hardly anything is even clipping.

I don't know, I wouldn't be so sure about that.

The game really is just god damn gorgeous. The fact that they have worked on their engine for a long time really shows. Can't see even Uncharted 4 looking better than this by the virtue of it being a little more open ended (at least it seems to be) than The Order. This game is the first ever I have seen that really has this almost CGI quality to it.

yeah it looks really good.. I like the players reflection in those gold canisters, I had fun just walking past them a minute or two.. reminded me of a mirror house lol..
only thing that was kind of weird.. on the way to the cockpit you walk past some golden fire extinguishers hanging on the wall. You can zoom in by pressing L2. If you zoom in on those extinguishers it takes some time for the textures to appear (not long though).. I´m not that technical but it looked strange, and once you let go of the zoom button and zoom in again it does the same.

I recall someone said the AA they use is actually more demanding than 1080p (without black bars).

It is. 4x MSAA. And it actually looks better than it did when they mentioned it earlier. May be they have thrown in some temporal AA as well to eliminate shimmering in motion.

Definitely one of the best looking things I've ever seen, but it really does just look like a Steampunk GoW, without the enemy variety in terms of aesthetics/gameplay design. Not to mention only about 2-3 minutes of that demo is open-ended gameplay, tops. Granted, the monsters aren't featured here.

But yeah, I'm good, I think.

Holy shit. I know it's subjective and all but i didn't think this was possible.
This is the most next gen game i've seen thus far. And clean as fuck. jesus i'm soo glad to not be distracted by jaggies and shit.

INCREDIBLE artdirection. Absolutely amazing graphics.
And it seems like a game that i will enjoy. Third person shooter with cover mechanics, bring it!

Wow.. i'm baffled on how good this game looks. And the character deisgn..

I assure you none of it is in RAD's hands.

I just watched the B-roll footage. Looks fantastic from both a graphics and gameplay perspective. While marketing may be done by Sony, I'm sure RAD actually makes the video trailers for the game. I could take the 15-min B-roll footage, cut it down to 3 mins and make a better trailer than anything RAD has released so far. RAD and Sony have a potential hit on their hands, they just need to better communicate with their potential customers/market.

I understand where you're coming from, but this isn't that different from how Sony marketed inFamous : Second Son.

Sometime Feburary, Sony had a preview event where the press wrote previews of a new inFamous build (b-rolls only) with Neon/Fetch mission. No direct gameplay allowed (there was a leak though)

Then they held back direct gameplay footage for like 2 weeks, as they held a livestream event with the games media to play the same build that they previewed 2 weeks prior. IGN/Gamespot/etc all had this.

Then there's the usual 'live-action-trailer' stuff. And then they had the gameplay footage actually revealed in full, alongside usual launch trailers and stuff where they tease beyond the preview build.

I don't care if a few people are skeptical or not, kiddo. I've seen more than enough of the game to gauge my interest. How you haven't been able to figure out what type of game it is, from the various demos/trailers shown, is beyond me.

Spoiler: it's a cinematic third-person shooter.

Unlikely that soon. It will happen once SSM and QD release another game I would say.

Don't forget GG, they are visual masters as well.

But lawd have mercy, I'm so excited for this game. The more I see it the more I want it! I'm actually glad we haven't seen that much of the game though to be honest. I like the rockstar approach lol.

Jesus christ, is your ability to analyze games reduced to flippin' comically simplistic and vague genre summaries?

Everyone knows it's a third person shooter. Guess what? Some third person shooters suck, some don't. Guess why? Because they all play differently and have different features and different levels of quality.

That's what the fuck a real unfiltered gameplay demo is meant to showcase, the minutiae of the gameplay mechanics. And that's really important in distinguishing the difference between a shit third person shooter and a good one, "kiddo."

The issue isn't what kind of game it is. It's been clear from observation and stated explicitly that it's a cinematic 3rd person shooter. The issue is that it looked boring and shitty and now it looks like it might be fun. They held back footage for too long, prolonging the impression that it was a dull, shallow, simple game with bad combat design. It might still be all those things, but this new footage has given some previously skeptical people hope that it will be fun to play, even if not revolutionary.

That right there really irks me. There has been far more positive impressions from that demo than the actual promotional gameplay teaser. It's astounding how the PR is abysmal in placing this game in a positive light. And it's 2 months away from release!!

game looks next gen

incredible visuals. I am sooo buying this on day fucking 1

Concur, this game is RIDICULOUS with its visuals, it is not an exaggeration to say i have watched CGI movies that look worse than this.

The art direction, Post processing effects, animation and physics..Wow.

Such a shame the game seems to be almost hidden under a bushel?

Cannot wait to get my copy in January.

I see loads have links now but if anyone needs a copy I can re-upload if needed!
