The Order 1886: 15 mn of B Roll gameplay video (direct feed)

It's on Gamersyde. Just make sure you watch the gamma corrected footage.

The only console game that has a chance is Uncharted and it would have to be 30fps for that to happen.

Uncharted would have to be more linear than Uncharted 1 to look better and we already know it isn't.

I think only QD stands a chance at outdoing this due to the way their games are designed. They can unload an insane amount of resources rendering a few characters in smaller locations. Makes me wish Ragnar Tornquist was head of QD :l

Not necessarily. I don't agree with it, but I can understand their rationale to an extent. It's designed so that new and exposure on The Order is released in stages, to keep the game being talked about beyond its initial showing.

Stage 1 : show a short trailer + teaser at keynote = get people talking about it.
Stage 2 : a larger playable slice on the showfloor, showfloor impressions or quick-looks from sites that are on-the-ground at PSX actually writing it asap, with some cuts.
Stage 3 : news/previews start trickling out from sites that got preview code instead of playing it at PSX.

Chances are stage 4/5 will have something similar to inFamous:SS, where we'll have the media being allowed to stream the game, or select media outlets will stream it with RAD alongside to talk about the game and their ideas/PR management during the stream itself.

If the rumors of the game being fairly short are true, I would understand RAD's holding back on showing too much. With the new footage the last few days, I think they've renewed interest and hype for the game. Now they'll go dark again until release.

If you look closely in the E3 demo Lady Igraine uses it and it instantly turns rebels into mist.

I'm guessing you'll need guns like that to fight lycans. Considering we've only seen the thermite rifle and arc rifle, I hope there's a few others like that and that they're kept under wraps until release.
I imagine the Thermite Rifle will really damage them.

Dude watch this gameplay of you want to see how brutal the shotgun is

Sick god damn!

Punchy as fuck, maybe they got pointers by ND.

Sidenote: Please, stop with the "kiddo" nonsense. I'm 30 years old, and it just makes you look ridiculous.

Extra sidenote: I know of a youtuber that "insults" people by calling them kiddo all the time on twitter or in his comments. It's hilariously dumb.

Anyways, onwards to more Order: 1886 impressions!

I like what I'm seeing. I just wish RAD would show a bit more. I get it, you don't want to spoil the story or locations, but there's a fine line between "showing too damn little" and "getting people excited".

Oh you mean Star Citizen, the not released, non-playable, slow as molasses and while still running on a powerhouse PC that probably costed over $1500 demo?

Sure, most idiots could make something look better on hardware like that with half a decent staff.

We get it, but no one is that impressed knowing the context. I love the PC, but I'm super tired of people driving by threads with no context PC screenshots and waving their e-penises around.

Yay, it's one of those people who think gaming PCs cost >$1000, these are always fun.

Also "Oh you mean Star Citizen, the not released, non-playable" changed to "Oh you mean The Order 1886 the not released, non-playable" would actually be more factually true, as I can play one of Star Citizens alpha modules right now.

The should just release a gif of Galahad walking down a London street wih NPCs around him like the concept art, if it's in. Just enough to know it's in the game but no context and only a brief look so there's still plenty to take in when you play the game.

i like those "breather" moments in games like Uncharted and The Order.

Wait, that's actually in the game or are you just hoping for it?

In terms of consoles visuals I agree, The Order looks amazing. But the first epsiode of Star Citizens singleplayer is being released in 2015

It does not look impressive here, it just looks like a Hi-Rez last gen PC game, The Order is pushing and doing alot more impressive things to look like CG.

Infact from the Above I would say Alien Isolation is a better looking Space game at this point.

Not likely I think. RaD guys have been working on their engine from the ground up for next gen for years. I think ND's is still kind of half and half. Plus, The Order's art and presentation seems to be a level up from Uncharted's. Check out what happens when Galahad starts the lock pick mini game. Everything little thing is so detailed and you can tell they are super meticulous.
Well this artdirection wouldn't be fitting for Uncharted ofcourse. But yeah, it's incredible.

Well the game looks A LOT better than I thought it would and the actual shooting sequences seemed to be just fine. However...

I still have the same concerns. There still isn't enough player controlled action, and a lot of the parts that do have player input are QTEs or minigames. It feels like that they really wanted to make a movie and every once in a while they were like "Oh we'd better have the player press a button so they still know it's a game".

As I've said before, this game is likely to be too short with little replay value. It'll be a good rental to experience the story and marvel at the graphics but it doesn't look like it'll be worth a buy.

The levels of The Order seem pretty similarly designed though. I don't think QD will have it any easier in that regard. It will probably look better just because its later in the cycle.

I watched the B Roll clip and I noticed the kitchen scene doesn't look as good graphically as the scenes in the Blimp? Might just be me.

I might have to book a day off for this. This type of TPS is scratching an itch for me.

The Dark Sorcerer was running on a quick port of the Beyond engine. I don't think QD will have any trouble taking the crown.

We've already seen their amazing Sorcerer demo, and that's allegedly based on their last gen "Beyond" engine (which supposedly incorporated some tech from the engine they had been working on for their PS4 title). The current engine is supposed to be built from the ground up. If there's gonna be a studio that can do it, I think QD stands the best chance

What he/she said lol

Yeah man, its looking like an interactive movie more than TLoU. Maybe its just the way its edited. Atleast some of that gunplay looks exciting.

That's some of the most boring gameplay I've seen in a long time. The first 5 minutes could be used as a sedative replacement in doctor's offices.

Alien Isolation does run magnificently for how good the lighting is. The lighting reminded me of Doom 3 so much.

Well, hyperbole and all, but i also still hope there will be large portions of the game where there are no small cutscenes every couple of seconds.
No matter how well they are done, they take you out of the immersion if it happens too often.

I have no problem with well done QTE-s though. They can be really great for life-death situations, making you even more nervous.
