XBL: Games with Gold

Anyone who says #IDARB looks meh hasn't played the game. Great game for Feb game with gold.

The competitive side is amazing, upto 8 players, story mode, mini games, twitter feeds, hashbombs, music creator, character/flag creator the game is just pure fun basically.

Consider myself lucky to have a copy already.

You meant Ryse right?

- Game no one buys anymore
- DLC out the wazoo
- Microtransactions
- Multiplayer that could use the population boost
- Could generate interest in a sequel and help fund it

Perfect candidate.

Ryse doesn't actually have that much DLC, not sure why people think that's the case and any sequel would be entirely down to Crytek, so that's pretty much a no with their current financial situation.

Dead Rising 3 is the better candidate. There's a game that could do with generating some interest for a sequel.

Chris Charla just posted this in the #IDARB thread,

#IDARB THREAD MICRO FAQ

Q) Why did Other Ocean announce the game now / early / without Microsoft's permission
A) After we set the release date together Other Ocean was like "can we announce it now and start giving out codes to our supporters?" And we (Microsoft) were like "Hmmm... no one has done that before. Sure, why not?" It feels in line with the crowd-sourced nature of the game.

Q) Will there be a GwG game in January?
A) Yes.

At first, I thought #IDARB looked dumb and like something I might not enjoy. Then I read about/noticed the hockey/basketball comparisons, so I now want to check it out.

Normally, multiplayer and frenetic games aren't ones I'm into, but it's interested me. (I play MP sparingly. It's fun in short bursts, just not all the time.)

I highly doubt January will be a retail game. Plenty of parents bought retail games for their kids for christmas, and it would stink if they unwrapped Dead Rising 3 on Christmas only to get it for free a week later. I think it will be a digital title like Lococycle or Powerstar Golf.

Dead Rising 3 would be an ideal GWG for me, because I really enjoyed it but sold my purchased copy while I could get some cash for it, to put towards another game.

It was just before the Street Fighter DLC -- which I'd like to play -- was announced, so I kind of kicked myself.

I don't really mind any game at all. My preference for self published games are that they release that month. MS should make that a thing so it doesn't devalue already released independent digital titles.

Worms with 4 friends is some of the most fun I've had on the XBO so far.

Hoping we get something big-ish (that I'm sure I already own) for January.

Worms is great, even better because the group I played with are all awful which leads to some great laughs.

Hehe.

Serious question, do pharmacies legit sell games in the US?

In Canada Shopper's Drug Mart does. It's a pharmacy, but the ones over here are like big convenience stores as well (sells some groceries, makeup, etc). I think Walgreens in the US is similar.

P.S. -
I got Dead Rising 3 at a pharmacy. $20 though.

Pretty good on the 360 front for me.
I do like racing games and I don't own The Witcher 2 anymore, but I might play it again in the future.

On X1 I already have D4.

If MS had any sense, it would be Dead Rising 3 with a sale on the DLC.
`

Not for a much longer time. A ton of new Xbox owners will be buying games in January and February, and DR3 should sell a fair number of copies. They would be better off waiting. You might make a better case for Ryse, but even that is going to sell some copies on sale, there is no need to give it away yet.

Mostly, using online subscription revenue to give away free games is dumb. I pay for a solid online environment, not free games. I understand why sony had to start this, since they had to convince people that paying for online made sense after it was free for so long. But I think it appears to have held back PSN from becoming as solid and stable as it needs to be.

And really, XBL is not as stable as it was before they started giving away games. But then, Microsoft is collecting less money towards online play now, because of the free content they give away. I'd still take XBL over PSN in a second, and I'm 99% happy with XBL anyway. But I kinda wish they would both stop the giveaways and just invest in the online environment we all want.
