I can't think of a good PR statement for Sony, because saying "we almost won while not cutting our price" doesn't sound good, while in reality with how close it was - it's awesome.

How about "the PS4 was the number one grossing console this November and remains the best selling console in 2014 by X00,000" something like that I guess.

I feel like there needs to be some perspective here. It would mean they couldn't plausibly win the generation, but the overall stats for XBO still paint it as a very healthy console on track to outsell the X360 worldwide. I don't think "fucked" would be a fair way to describe the situation they're in, except in the very narrow sense that their ability to come first place would be torpedoed. PS4 and XBO are both seemingly filling the void left by the WiiU's total failure to follow-up on the Wii's success.

I thought Sony GAF of all people should be used to explaining how the PSP wasn't an overall failure just because the DS was a mega-success.

MS talking about UK in an NPD report, no full PR yet we got one in october, nothing from Greenberg you know that win wasn't that solid. That's without taking Cboat's whispers into account. Doesn't sound like that are too happy with the situation even though they obviously increased their marketshare quite a bit but don't close the current gap. Looks like Sony could win December this year with enough stock and some offers to combat the XB1 $329 bundle.

Unless he posts some sort of evidence I personally never believe him. Same in this case.

It's absolutely time to drop the gamepad and rebrand as the "WiiUPro" at $150 and patch all existing software to work with the WiiU Pro Controller and pack two in.

Hell, pack Mario Kart 8 pre-installed, Wii U without gamepad, and two Pro Controllers for $200 and you have a winner.

They clearly don't want to do this though. Look at Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and Amiibo. They're trying to create more software to convince people of the value of the Gamepad but it's just not working.

I think they just really need to focus on making sure that their next hardware is as good as it can be at this point.

This is false. Nintendo made more money than Sony in that era because of the GBA. They would have made even more if the GCN wasn't such a colossal failure. Fast forward a decade later and that "colossal failure" looks like the PS2 compared to the Wii U.

He is mixing total profitability of Nintendo and profitability of GC. Nintendo made pretty similar amounts of money during GC gen as Sony but it had more to do with GBA than GC.

Not even close. The WIi U will close out with likely half of the GCN's sales (it's already at over third). GCN had only about a seventh of PS2's sales.

It's a terribly selling console, but there's no need for hyperbole.
